.10 cents a watt for me. For me it is certainly not about saving money. For me it is about having for emergencies. At times I think it isn't worth it and then a hurricane just tore a Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Caroline and Tennessee a new one. And rethink that it might be a...
You people are insane. You never signed a contract with a disconnect fee, so they have no right to charge you a fee for no longer patronizing their business.
I have a jackery 2000 for camping. I have a Anker F2600 for hurricane use (It will power my refrigerator for 1 day) I have panels that will recharge both if the sun is shining. I also have a 3500 watt gas generator. The problem is gasoline is impossible to come by once your gas cans go empty...
Agree. The NOT DIY route is very very expensive. The DIY route has knowledge hurdles that are extreme if you aren't infatuated with the technology. But those DIY hurdles have always been there and are now lower than ever. So yes even though a hurdle is still there adoption should still...
First off, I have been fascinated by solar for a long time. Never bit the bullet due to batteries being crappy. Advancements (lifepo) in batteries and the drop in price for everything else has me taking another look.
What I have: A gas generator, an Anker F2600, two 195w bifacial solar...
It isn't about the logic. This is all about control. They want you dependent on them without the ability to even voice your opinion against them for fear of retaliation. This goes way beyond just the power company.
The 18k pv is sealed so it will be less likely to have issues than others that are rated for indoor use... even if used indoors only. No way for dust to get in them. Ever opened up an old computer?
I am going to install and small system with its primary role will be to supply energy for certain things during emergencies. The batteries alone are going to run at about 2000 to 4000 dollars depending the size I settle on. If everything else was given to me for free (haha) it would still...
My thoughts. NATO is preparing for war. If the nukes go off it won't matter. If they don't go off and we don't destroy each other then in 20 years you won't even want to use those crappy solar panels you are about to buy anymore. You will want the ones that are like 55% efficient or maybe...
Any thought on the other question. I have panels I can connect to my Anker. Is it crazy or normal to consider running something in my house off of this system? This would mean charging and somewhat discharging the Anker F2600 each day.
It would cut my electric bill by a tiny tiny probably...
I have PF right now. I think I am on the mend. Going watch the video right now. Interested to see what is in it. There is so much contradictory information out there even amongst medical doctors on PF.
edit: watched the video
The "trigger points" are where the muscle is in constant...
Hello,
I am looking at a small cheap charge controller that comes in a package with a 30 watt solar panel. The charge controller can only handle 10amps.
Similar charge controllers cost about 10-20 dollars. This one is not mppt. I don't see the company name in the package. Just wondering...
Update and question
I have the panel and charge controller. The panel puts out 20v in full sun. It is suppose to have protection that will not allow the panel to drain the battery. I do not know how it does this if it does it at all. I assumed it would be via a diode.
So I get it with...
Battery chemistry has greatly increased the longevity and usable power density of batteries in recent years.
Battery cost has come down in terms of usable watts for the cost.
PV panel cost has been steadily dropping for years.
AIO systems make the knowledge and tool hurdle to DIY systems lower...
Oh, another day another war. China and India this time. OK not yet. But China is taking Bhutan and that threatens a big chunk if India that they only have a small piece of land connecting it to the rest of their country.
The world is not safe and getting more unsafe by the second.
I have looked into hydro but it just doesn't work for me. Ground is to flat. And the waterways that have decent current might be 25 feet deeper and look like the Mississippi after a hard downpour. Good luck. Wish I could.
I already have a gas generator. I want something that will run my essentials when I don't have power for months or for forever! Portable battery for short term minor outages, generator for outages that last for a week. And for the future a solar system that will last for years.
Also if I...
Thank you! That is helpful. 30W idle consumption is a big plus in my book considering initially that could be half of the power usage for me.
And pass through is a must.
If a dry motor runs on 120volts, could the following setup work. Cut off the existing dryer plug. Wire up two regular ac plugs from that power cord. Then one ac plug would power the dryer motor and any controls and the other plug would run the heating element with 120 volts?
