Good that’s what I want to do, so much cleaner.
  • Post in thread: EG4 6.5K setup.

Can I put 3 inverters in parallel (2) on L1 and (1) on L2. This would give me 13K on L1 and 6.5 shared with L2 for 240v loads. I would try with an amp meter to make share the loads are off balanced to L1. Basically I could monitor the two legs for a period of time one move loads between L1 and...
  • Post in thread: Combine Multiple EG4 Battery Racks?

I have a 6 battery rack, and a 5 battery rack. I am connecting them each to a Lynx distribution module, then the shunt then a distribution module. The distribution module opposite the batteries will feed 4 inverters. I added a t class 400A fuse to each bank. I also have a cerbo GX to monitor the...
  • Post in thread: 48v Battery Charger

I ordered one. Actually pre order. Need a charger to charge (10) Lifepower4 batteries. Was going to use 2 EG4 3K inverters to provide 100A charging but this is a cleaner solutio.
  • Post in thread: EG4 6000xp clock on stove looses 2-3 seconds a day.

Grid breaker in material. I’m 100% off grid no grid input. I haven’t put a frequency counter on it yet but sa gives me 59.99 to 60.01 as frequency range. There are 3 6000xp’s in parallel.
  • Post in thread: Recommended mounting material for mobile

I know that this is the wrong place BUT the discussion is going. I’m looking at building a new room where the electrical panels, inverters … will be located. Every one is using concrete board to mount equipment. I’m looking at putting 1/2 plywood on the wall with 5/8 sheetrock over the plywood...

  • Post in thread: Safe Grid Use of the 5000ES and transformer

Fighting an imbalance from the grid, it’s gone. BTW that imbalance is only with your direct neighbors, once you get to the high side of the transformer its a single phase. The harmonics from the grid are not an issue, if you generation is sized right although you will have harmonic distortion...
  • Post in thread: EG4 6.5K setup.

Looking at the three phase system all units are tied to the serial pairing com. The paired inverters have their current sharing tied together. The phase that only had one inverter only had the comm connected. The question is this also possible with split phase? All having the comm daisy chained...
  • Post in thread: Flickering lights on new EX-6500 system

I’m just bringing online an off grid system. I have 2 inverters and 2 more to flash with the most current firmware. The only flickering so far is when the contractor was running his airless paint spraying. This flickering can also be seen when on grid as the pump draws high current when pumping...

  • Post in thread: SA BATTERY QUESTION.

I know I can run separate rs232 lines to inverters to monitor several inverters. Can I monitor batteries on RS485. I have no problem with the address concept as I’ve worked with 485 for decades but will SA support multiple 485 batteries? If it does I would get two licenses and use one SA for...
  • Post in thread: Ground Mounted 9,600 watt Sol Arc do it yourself solar system-Solar Pirate

Some geometry? Span between front to back, Space between support posts. From height and back. (Ground to top of cross beam) I have a similar design 8’ at back and 16” at front. Instead of concrete I was going to use 12’ 4x6 with 4’ in the hole with secure set. Any thoughts?
  • Post in thread: SPF-5000-ES Wire Size?

Sorry if this is addressed somewhere already. I looked BUT could not find an answer to my question. Depending on which version of the manual you have in hand the AC Input / Output is spec'd as either 10 or 8 gauged. Which manual is correct? Thanks in advance. Also I am bench testing using...
  • Post in thread: Generac 15kw 2 wire auto start help

It’s not that difficult. It takes a couple of relays. One relay takes the NO contact from the inverter and opens a 240 line from the inverter out. These two lines go to the Generac. On loss of 240 the generator starts running. When power is stable it provides a 12v signal back. I use that to...
  • Post in thread: Safe Grid Use of the 5000ES and transformer

Just a simple question as to the load capability of the ATS. As this thread is about the 5000ES and transformer. The one listed on SS's website is the ATS 5000T-US. In the product data from Growatt a ATS 11400T-US is also listed...
  • Post in thread: Combine Multiple EG4 Battery Racks?

The Lynx shunt is just a fused shunt, that speak VE.can and if for the lynx distribution. you can continue to use the smart shunt for both or get a 2nd, one for each bank.

  • Post in thread: Lead carbon and the cycle claims at 50% DOD?

What many always forget that time = money. DIY batteries are a great idea, you can repair them when the BMS dies. but what you save in $ is so minimal over buying EG4's or other rack mounted batteries that it is questionable economics. I am looking at the Northstar batteries because there is no...
  • Post in thread: Chargeverter hook up question.

I’m building an off grid setup. I have a generator that will fire up on a contact closure (2 wire start) I have 12 Lifepower4 batteries in two banks 60Kwh of battery. I have a Chargeverter that I’ll be hooking up. Can I leave it connected to the battery bank permanently so on low SOC, I’ll...

  • Post in thread: Design Review - Growatt SPF 5000 ES Grid Backup & Neutral Bonding

A shunt trip breaker has a trip coil off the side of the breaker. All you have to do is energizer the coil (depends on the breaker config) I use 240V from the inverter out through a relay. If it is a DPDT relay you can use the contacts you need to do this. Once energized it trips the breaker...
  • Post in thread: Aluminium bus bars

I’m looking at aluminum bus bars 0.625 x 1.75. From the cross section I should be good for 580A. I can make two bus bars 36” long for around $70 if I used copper for the same capacity same length it would cost me $350.
  • Post in thread: How to run AC input off generator only with 2 Growatt 5000es inverters and auto transformer…

Would an inverter generator for example a HONDA EU7000 provide a more stable power source if you want to use an inverter with a Genset? I was looking at using 2 of the 48V chargers from signature solar in parallel to charge batteries off the genset.

  • Post in thread: EG4 6000xp clock on stove looses 2-3 seconds a day.

I worked in the hydro industry and once the breakers closed the freq was tied to the grid. Your only freq issues occurred in black start mode. Off grid you are the time base for a lot of devices. To be off 2 seconds a day your freq would only need to be off by .0013888 HRZ. Its not much but...

  • Post in thread: Combine Multiple EG4 Battery Racks?

Using the Lynx distribution system you have a 1000A busbar system. I have my battery banks on one side of my shunt and inverters and charger on the other side, nice and clean. I made inverter cables all the same length and battery bank cables all the same length (wire gets expensive).

  • Post in thread: EG4 Battery Rack - Split the busbar?

  • Post in thread: Safe Grid Use of the 5000ES and transformer

But if we’re looking off grid 50% of the issues go away. Mind you there are still issues but most can be engineered not to go away but to have a safe system. That’s what this whole discussion here has been about even though it has gone off topic like the movie “UP”. —- “squirrel “.
  • Post in thread: 6000xp Gen Start

That's why I am bouncing this off of others. There is NOT a whole lot on the Victron AT. I originally was going to put (2) SEAUTO AT's in but as I always like to keep things simple I thought if the Victron has more capacity use one instead of two. If it's only 100A pass thru using the same...
