Thank you all for the suggestions. I cleaned them all up today and everything appears to have gone well. I feel somewhat more empowered being off grid and controlling my energy resources...of course, empowered when shit is working...frantic when it breaks.

Thanks for the response. Let me redo my SG readings with more accurate info and I will report back. btw, I'm using one of the EZRED battery hydrometers...if that matters for accuracy and reliability of readings.
  • Post in thread: Low cut off volts Classic 200

I have this controller that shows me the SOC. And yes, it was setup for my battery bank size.

Thanks for the response. I got. Floor standing charger and figured out how to put the magnum in bypass so the genny is powering the house, not charging the batteries. Disconnected the solar array. Isolated the battery and have it currently charging at 6 volt 40 amp setting. I'm guessing a...
  • Post in thread: Charging one battery out of 16

After some time learning, I came to realize that these smart battery charges, I dont believe, are doing what I need it to do. So I returned that and bought a Schumacher SC1667. This seems similar to old school manual chargers. I was able to isolate the battery and keep it charging for 6 volts...

Thanks for the reply and your experience. Can you give me more details on the charger setup? Or the make model of charger?
  • Post in thread: Charging one battery out of 16

Just bringing this to the top of the topics as a new thread... I just got the right timing to do an SG test on all the cells. I put this into a spreadsheet, I attached a screenshot of my results. It appears to me that bank 1, battery 7 has 2 cells that are misbehaving. I sent this info to...

I ended up getting the sc1667...guess I was on the right track of thinking, with being a beginner with this stuff. How long would you charge a single battery for? I have 2 cells on a 6 volt that read 1240 and 1250 for SG.

    That is awesome.

Thanks for everyones replies. I just got the right timing to do an SG test on all the cells. I put this into a spreadsheet, I attached a screenshot of my results. It appears to me that bank 1, battery 7 has 2 cells that are misbehaving. I sent this info to Trojan support, and this was the...
  • Post in thread: Water venting

Hi All, I thought I would start a new thread. My other thread is about a battery that had low water on one cell, and then turned into an SG convo. Before I chase down the SG, I noticed more of a water issue. I have 16 Trojan batteries. 2 banks of 8, wired parallel series for 48v. These are...
  • Post in thread: Solark 12k outdoor Solar Assistant

I have the Solark 12k Outdoor version inverter with Simpliphi 6.6 batteries connected in a closed loop. It appears, from the documentation that the CANBUS/RS485 connection is on one port in the inverter. I bought the SA Pi with their splitter. I have not been able to get the SA to work, along...

I could have skipped it by accident...never thought of that. All the other cells where fairly equal with the water level which has been consistent over all these years of adding water. I will check SG tomorrow once the sun brings the bank to 100 percent.
  • Post in thread: Low cut off volts Classic 200

We are having our first full time winter off grid. I have an off grid setup that is 7 years old. 16 Trojan LFA's, Classic 200, Magnasine inverter, magnum web monitor. I'm trying to figure out what my low cut off and trying to avoid hitting that. With myself, wife and 2 teenage girls, in the...
  • Post in thread: low water

So, it happened. I have been diligent for 7 years with watering my batteries. Never had a low water issue. I was late watering this time around. Out of 48 cells, one of them was dry at the top. These are Trojan L16RE-B 6v batteries. I have 16 of them. series wired, 2 banks of 8 and the 2...
  • Post in thread: Charging one battery out of 16

Thanks for that. I put that charger on the battery at 6 volt 25 amp. I left it on for 5 hours. I was thinking about repeating the process and leaving it on for 8ish hours. The charger only has one 6 volt setting. Is it possible to use a 12 volt setting on one 6 volt battery? Or would I need...
  • Post in thread: low water

totally forgot to check back on this forum for responses...thanks for asking... My meter shows fair as being 12.00 to 12.25 But...I have observed a water issue with this battery. About 5 days ago I observed water on the top of the battery. I wiped everything up and made sure it was dry. Today...
  • Post in thread: Corrosion clean up

I just noticed corrosion on 2 of the cable ends. I have never shut down my system before, nor have I ever disconnected the battery terminals before. Pics of my inverter and the battery that needs clean up. There is a large red disconnect switch on the left side of the MagnaSine box that is...
  • Post in thread: low water

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have let the battery bank sit and do it's thing day after day. At 100 percent SOC, the one dry cell now shows fair voltage on the SG. The cell next to it, which didnt go dry shows fair on SG. The third cell in the battery, which didnt go dry shows good on...
