that's pretty cool, i like explosions.
when i was about 10 years old i would go around and collect 9v batteries whenever i saw one thrown away .. they were pretty common back then even tv remotes etc. i would peel off the metal skin and get down to the black square battery that had two flat...
didn't all the BMSes pass numerous times and the other tested components did not? even with a failed BMS it seems like the flow would be limited and as he mentions, a good fuse would then fix that. ??
i bought some smart plugs that monitor and graph electricity useage as well as a kill-a-watt meter. i was surprised by a few things when it came to power useage and they really helped my decision and upgrade path for what I need now and what I will expand to in the future.
i am ok with my...
don't wanna derail this thread but .... As an Albertan... fu*k this Canada as 51st State business... just add Alberta to Montana. Nothing else in Canada worth a damn - leave it to the Chinese and French. Yukon and NWT/Nunavut excluded, they should be protected by UNESCO
thanks for all the information. as luck would have it, a truck went by and took out our power line again.... 3rd time's a charm. i had just connected the inverter to a power line to charge the battery and 'test' some things and configure it all prior to connection to grid and load.
well with...
ok 'we' did it.
I installed the ipower app. it's a decent app and realtime info is much better than SA. SA lags so much my LOAD wattage will go up but takes a minute or so for the GRID to show the same numbers or so....
so i could read the inverter no problem. app didnt ask me for a...
it's like a subscription fee in watts, some people will pay more some don't wanna pay nothing :)
i like things that start with B
bfg
bft
bfh
and now
bfs
one would think panel variance would average out over each 11 panel strings be closer to equal
first thing i would do is swap 1/4 and 2/3 and see what the difference is
mine just charges slower as it gets up to the top. 54.41 and 1.6A on mine would mean to me it is still charging slowly and near the top. then it would drop below 54v and that is 100%
also mine acted a bit 'off' for the first week or so then either the battery or my brain became normal...
i don't know if they are the same just same specs and same results. mine is controlled by the BMS so the amps can start out at 190 (if needed) and go down as the battery goes up. last i looked at about 92% is was around 20 amp charging. I limit mine as well, usually about 45 amp slow charge...
my big one hasen't leaked but i dont use it nearly as much as you.. maybe 30 times so far. it did come with a small packet of o-rings though so i'm expectant lol.
happened to my induction cooker. lizard got inside and got bbq'd. had to replace a bunch of parts cause i couldn't track down which were fried and which were not. i have pics but no idea where right now.
i bought some plastic mesh window screen, really fine stuff and cut pieces and used...
i cut off the ends to make them forked lugs, easier to put on and take off :P
(only did this once - on the ground bus bar. I didn't have a spade crimp the correct size so i put a hole terminal on and made it into a fork, then i put the fork into two holes on the bus bar and clamped them down.)
bigass welder can give +/- 600 DC amps from a transformer machine, need a lot of power to supply it or run on diesel ... duty cycle would be pretty good, prob get an hour of that steady amps or continuous on a good machine.
now i forgot what i was gonna ask or comment lol
other than great...
same same (typhoon country) so this interests me as well. since i am near the equator and the sun moves quite a distance from S to N and back through the year. this is leading me to ground mounting them flat rather than elevated due to possible storms.
I did the same thing because power outages here are frequent and a royal pain.
bought a srne 4880 8K inverter and a 200Ah srne battery and put it on ups mode. it just sits there and takes over when the power goes out. we use 12kw per day and i think the battery is good for maybe 9 of that so...
Philippines now much of the time. it's amazing anything works here at all. but their electrical tape is incredible. i brought some from canada and it just turns to goo and slides down the wire after a few days with a snail trail. same as stick gum, just turns to goo. i bring chiclets now.
Thanks so much, makes sense especially that the 'return' would need to be larger capacity. I called it neutral because that's what it would be connected to in the system but have also heard it called ground and now return. A large truck went by a few months ago and took out our power line...
yah they use a lot of power and i saw some much higher wattage at the store. when i am able i will make solar hot water. the water from the pipe is already fairly warm (unlike canada where the water is about 10c out of the pipe lol) so wont take much extra for nice warm solar showers.
same, kinda
i am using 1 split cable from battery to inverter (CAN) also battery to Waveshare Pi USB (RS485)
no issues no other connections. instructions say A/B but also +/- so easy to wire.
inverter uses usb to usb to connect to Pi
I have similar in a 230v version. there is no info or online pdf manual for it. the specs in the manual are mostly the same but in one spot says max solar is 1000w not 500+500 or 600 like the sheet has. I will contact them before i add solar anyway , have a few questions.
luckily my 200Ah battery is only 200lbs. it comes with feet but also comes with big wall hanging bracket as well as side L brackets if only securing to a wall while sitting on feet.
what mounting hardware does your battery come with? i had to take the battery out of the back of the car and...
lol im on an island but it's not that bad, maybe out in the country. the power guy who installed the new meter and taped the wire together did it bare hand with linesman plyers which I wanted to look away.
my power meter is on the street on a pole of somekind. then my wiring goes over our...
thanks. I can handle the whole house load with 8kW inverter. i have measured every item in the house with meters for a few months with smart plugs and a watt meter to make sure of my size requirements. the rest would be up to the battery (200Ah 48v) so limit the heavy power items like shower...
yah i will upgrade after a bit to more battery once i run it a while and see how it performs and what is needed. not many long storms here so longest power outage ive experienced is about 10 hours. i was away for the 2021 typhoon. my voltage droops a lot , can tell by fan sound it slows down...
I am definitely going to install a solar hot water heater or build one. I calculated today that my wife and daughter each had 18 minute x 4000 watt showers lol. during the week it's half that but I guess they want to be extra clean for church.
since our water lines are routed above ground...
ok i may have discovered my issue... ??
so, I hammered in my grounding rod and installed a 6g wire to a ground bus. today I was routing the grounds from the inverter and battery to the bus. before i connected the first one my knuckle touched the bus bolt and i got a slight shock, just a...
thanks yah i just was getting set up for that (their app) when i stumbled on this thread and thought i would try the dongle again :)
previously my battery was connected to the AIO as well as SApie and the AIO was connected to SApie with the usb cable. Then I saw I could use the wifi port with...
our breakers at work are horrible but predictable.
we are in lunch trailers and there is a fridge and microwave at each end of the trailer. the breaker can handle it all easily and does for about 10 people heating their food. after a certain time the breaker pops and keep popping because they...
i use tp link tapo smart plugs but they are all indoor locations so no waterproofing required. i can monitor and set schedules etc. i have one 400 series outdoor dual plug that i was running the a/c off but it doesn't monitor power useage so i replaced with the smaller plugs. the phone app is...
Hi. I am curious about connecting the inverter and there is a real language barrier here even with solar installers and this area says it is for stupid questions.
we have , from power pole , a black and unshielded wire that twist around and connects to this house Black to White and Unshielded...
not too sure because each job is different equipment and trailers etc but same thing happens every time. when the breaker pops it progressively gets worse until someone desperately hungry stands at the breaker panel resetting it until they can eat haha.
it's just small breakers 15 or 20 amp...
think i got it sorted with this video
i will verify tomorrow but i am pretty sure my readings were 220 from [grid] L & N to ground rod. 110 or so from L & N to inverter/battery chassis. can't remember from chassis to ground rod though. I will open everything up again tomorrow and check...
only thing i would be aware of is the apps they use. many are absolute garbage. good smart devices can be (data shared) used in a single app like home assistant. some people dont mind numerous apps but i would definitely prefer one app for all my items.
i really didn't like the solarman phone app so i disconnected the wifi dongle until you mentioned you could change the settings from their webpage. i have a newer hesp 4880 and i can't change anything with SA, i just get CRC error. i bought some usb/485 dongles but no change no matter how i...
that is a really nice install compared to here lol.
this one is neither the best or worst around here, just a random average one on my ride to the store.
