I'm also looking for these panels. I currently have 12, and am looking for 18 or 20 more. I built my ground mount for these specifc size panels and now I cant get them anymore.
Its both the > 10% efficiency loss and the high idle consumption for these devices. My older Outback system was only about 2%-3% total. You get what you pay for I guess. I've compensated by adding more panels. I may try to put in one of my Outback FM80 charge controllers and see how it...
I'm going to have to agree with this as the reason as well. Wonder if there is a shunt that will work for direct PV measurements. Would be nice to actually know how much power I am really making without relying on just the battery shunt (since thats not the whole story of the power usage)..
Has anyone else noticed large differences in the power values reported by the EG4 6500EX?
I would assume that the PV Power (power coming in on all MPPT), the Power Load (the amount of power being used by the inverter) and the Batter Power (power going in or out of the battery bank) would...
Thats what I am doing now. I guess I will start looking for some low voltage MPPT charge controllers for single panel use. Can use the panel on a water pump or something during the day.
Unfortunately, finding a suitable replacement is MUCH harder than you would think. These things go out of stock quickly and become discontinued. Might find one with similar specs, but the size (LxW) is so far out that it wont fit in the array.
I have the same issue with another array that one...
Thinking about this more, it seems that "in theory' this would be the same as 2 parallel strings of 6 panels, but ONE of the panels in ONE of the string being 100% shaded.
So perhaps that might be the better question... what is the result of a single shaded panel?
In general I know that you should wire panels so that they balance out voltage. However, I recently lost a single panel in an array of 12.
What would be the result of wiring them up into two strings .. one with 5 panels and one with 6. Right now I have had to go down to 10 panels, and would...
I have 12 (or had) 12 panels in my array. These are Axitec AC-330 panels with Voc: 45.83v and Isc: 9.27a.
I say "had" 12 because 1 was damaged by a gust of wind blowing it about 100 ft across the property (faulty hardware).
Anyway, now with only 11, I can no longer split them in to 2...
I have a cell that seems to have an unusual charging slope. When I first got it it behaved like all the others. Slow slope until about 3.40-3.42, then a steady rise to 3.6 .. the expected slope. However, now it gets to about the 3.45 area and then just drops to 3.38 (while still pulling in...
