I've had this for a couple weeks now and it's been great. I've been averaging about 25kwh per day from ~7k in solar panels. This is mostly limited by the zero export (300w buffer). For the house loads, the AC and dryer seem to be the biggest loads. When AC is running I pull about 4kw and...
It had all the features I was looking for and everyone seems to be happy with their products. It was between that and the EG4 18k, they both have what I was looking for, but the midnite simplifies my installation.
Update: I had to update the firmware to get the communication working. I'm on Hardware V15 and Firmware V15.32. The inverter is set to Pylon protocol and the BMS is on Pylon CAN protocol. Wired with standard ethernet pinout.
Also, I'm most likely going to end up building another battery...
I spoke with Midnite tech support to get some clarification on my wiring scheme and they said that they are coming out with a battery/batteries in Sept that will be cheaper than assembling your own cells. Anyone have any info on these?
Finally got a picture of the meter base. We lost our neutral to a damaged underground wire....whole different and painful issue.
I think I've decided to just do a Fronius string inverter and tie into my garage 100a subpanel. I'll put CTs on the incoming wires in the meter base then to a...
I recently put together a 16s DIY battery using MB31 cells and a JK-PB2A16S20P BMS. I'm attempting to get it to communicate with my Midnite 12K AIO. It is connected to the CAN port on the inverter and to the CAN port on the BMS/Battery. Right now I have it connected using a standard ethernet...
I'd like to build a solar system to offset my grid usage. There is a company local to me that is selling a large number of JA Solar 315w panels for $50 each. I'd like to build out a system to offset my grid usage. Currently I have a 900w setup, using the same panels, at my farm stand that I...
I'm looking to offset my energy usage with solar. I'm looking at a diy system using a Fronius string inverter and then later adding a hybrid with a battery as funds allow. I'm trying to figure out my best option for where to tie into my electrical system. I have a 320A meter base that is...
I'm building a 12v 4 cell 280ah battery. I got the cells and BMS from Jenny Wu.
I have it all wired up but the BMS doesn't seem to be operating correctly(or at all). It's a JK-B2A8S20P. I've followed the wiring instructions but I can't connect to bluetooth and it isn't taking/giving...
Have you tried the webportal? On the information tab there is a battery section that lists out Current, voltage, Charge power, discharge power, SOC, SOH, Temp, etc
I don't have a battery so I can't be a good judge. I didn't know if there was a battery connected if it would auto populate the...
This is my utility shed. On the far right is the 200A disconnect from the house. It is fed through the back straight in from the meter base. The big panel in the middle is the 200A Shed subpanel fed through a LB from the meter base. The subpanel off of the shed subpanel is the pump subpanel.
I got these boxes with cells and a jk bms from docan Jenny. Kit was good but could have included cables from cells to battery box terminals and bolts for the same. I used strapping tape for compression and to keep the battery box closed.
There's only a single can port on the inverter and the BMS so you wouldn't need a termination on either one of those. And I think the pylon protocol is a standard that has a certain bus speed.
I built two 12v battery packs using 280ah cells and a JK BMS (JK B2A8S20P). They were both working well then one would not charge/discharge. I assumed I had a bad BMS after I cycled the BMS and tried emergency mode and still no charge/discharge. I replaced the BMS and I'm still getting the...
Thanks for the input. I know I'll need a lot of panels. Most likely I'll build it out slowly.
The energy usage is correct. We use a lot. House is well insulated but over 4ksf.
