I am connecting a sub panel to my house mainly because my main breaker box is full. It will also make it easier to work with while expanding. I plan on moving a 15 amp circuit to it one at a time and see what and how long it will run. A bed room does not consume that much power for example at...
From what I can tell a battery tender is something you hook to the battery and leave hooked up while it constantly maintains the battery? I did not think you would want a battery charger or tender connected to your battery while it is connected to your system. I have always disconnected the...
I talked to Renogy and the Volts are the important thing. Keep it within 10% tolerance and your OK. A blocking Diode is built in to the controller so that is not an issue.
The short video I was sent above this post was right on.
Thanks for your comment as always
I have a Battery Tender and it says fully charged on 2 Valence batteries at 13.6 for both of them.
Why can't I get the 14.5 volts . I have almost had the a week.
Both are in parallel but the positive side is disconnected from the system and not in use.
Help please this part should be simple
Heck no. If you look through the threads one battery had a blister on top and neither one would run 3 amps and 300 watts for 3 or 4 hours.
The seller took them back on the first request even though he he does not accept returns. He must have known there were issues with them. I wouldn't even be...
Purchased about 2 to 3 weeks ago and no returns. They said I am protected by Ebay but not sure what that means. Hope I have 30 days at least to file a claim if necessary. The hardware to test the batteries should be here Sunday
When I add breakers to my box the black wire goes to the breaker. The white wire goes to the neutral bar. The copper ground goes to the grounding bar. That's standard 110v. GFI is for wet area like the bathrooms, kitchen and outdoor plugs, How modern of a house are you talking about?
I never thought about Series not adding amps or Parallel adding amps. Never thought about amps at all. So if I have 2 Valence 12v 138 ah in parallel I have 276 amps... hmm..
Did not want to go down the refrigerator vent but that may be the best way. I was going to pay an RV shop to mount and run the cable but now I may do it myself. After you finish mounting them I hope rain water would run under them and not get trapped. My last trailer was totaled by the insurance...
I THINK I AM THE ONE THAT STARTED THIS THREAD 5 OR 6 MONTHS AGO
Is this cable wired correctly? I get port not found. I cannot get it to get past the port not found.
This is the same 2 connectors someone else in this thread used.
I hope I am 1 pin off. That said I could not get it to work when...
I just received the parts from Amazon today.
Can you tell me if the pin connections are straight through? Maybe send a picture of how the connector connects to the USB adapter?
With 1 USB connector and 1 cable connected to it does it matter which Valence cable you connect to?
You do disconnect...
Good info. My 2 Valence 's will be here next week. Got a Renogy Adventurer .
Not to Muddy the water... I know you keep the same batteries on the same PWM or MPPT. Can the AGM Vmax 125 amp battery be put on it's own PWM and used in the system? Is this not advisable or would? THis would not...
I think I had 5 wires wired straight through. So do you think that whatever extra wire that was wired staight through could have been a problem and should have been disconnected?
I need to order another USB adapter and a couple connectors again since I returned the others
Building my own battery will be a challenge since I don't fully understand it yet. I really have no need for Solar to be honest my power practically never goes out and my RV always has full hookups at campgrounds. I am just trying to have some fun with it. I retired at 50 and now at 56 I stayed...
Well I guess I will forget about that for now. I don't know enough about batteries at least for now. I still am in a just buy a battery and hook it up. Not a good baby sitter
Believe it or not I can do this. I have EPEVER 40 amp MPPT, 2 165 watt panels, Autotransfer switch, etc... I am considering switching to an All in One but I already have this equipment. Sometimes I will ask basic questions just to be sure about something. The Holy Grail is to power the air...
I may get some XT connectors.
Only the wire was going to be exposed that is why I was asking if anyone was using speaker wire outside. I agree the Anderson connectors are not weather proof.
Do you know if the MC4 connectors work well with the speaker wire. I have a MC4 kit including a crimper...
I am only using 1 battery now starting about 30 minutes ago.
How do you connect to the batteries physically to connect to the pc. Is there a USB cable of some sort that will connect the 2.
Someone else said it is not a good idea to have the battery charger connected while it is powering the system. This is an AGM maybe that makes a difference?
Can you tell me the difference between a charger and a tender?
One of the batteries does have a blister on top and someone said a cell going bad or something got hot. I posted pictures. I noticed this from Day 1.
No returns of course
I am not using that connector. I will make a female adapter on the positive side. I have a com 8 and it shows up in device manager. If you choose it in the software it immediately fails but 9 does not.
Thanks for sticking with me I will try what you said
AH.. did I misread or misunderstand because you are right that is what I was referring to? Please correct me because I do have grid power and if I left it connected to the charger all the time the battery would stay charged? Straighten me out please
battery trickle charger not solar trickle charger
OK I found what I need to connect them and ordered what someone listed to get. Just got a different USB connector since the one suggested was out of stock
If it's not split you seem to be saying it's not useful here in the USA. I agree but the 220v split phase unit's are more expensive it seems than a straight 220v and by a larger margin of dollars. Can't be that much difference in MFG cost. Anyway I agree with you guys answer. Did not know the...
Again why are we being discouraged on purchasing the Hybrid All In Ones ? One MFG said that Back Feeding can be Disabled and is Disabled by default. If this is the only reason not to purchase one I don't see a problem. I understand there can be legal issues and so on but if disabling Back...
No.
Running as administrator and logged in as administrator and connect to cable by positive.
Click on Locate and battery not found
Click on Scan and no modules found.
Time to rest some and go back to the drawing board.
Thanks for continuing to work with me today.
I will try a little later
This is a 4 amp Battery Tender Lithium Iron Phosphate charger in Lithium mode. Not the 5 amp . This is supposed to be the correct charger maintainer.
Are the Panels the only one way to get it to 14.5 ?

Got my 2 Valence batteries in and take a look at one of the pictures. is the bubble on top of the battery ok?
They both have 13.18 volts in them is the what the maximum charge 13.38?
It did not come with any screws for the battery cables. Are the 2 cables on each battery to be plugged in to...
Saw where battery charge should be between 13.8 and 14.6 v but maximum charge is 15.2 v. I purchased a 5 amp Battery Tender that I will leave connected to the system 24/7. Any problem with this please let me know.
The 2 cables are for BSM. Each battery has some level of BSM is my understanding...
I wondered if charging would be an issue.
Ok so output could go to a Blue Sea fuse block? In one video Will discouraged using the output but in another he is using it
Is there anyway to do what I am trying to with the Solar being the main power source and when the battery gets weak it switches...
I had no idea what to get to connect the battery to the pc. I just ordered the cable. The USB adapter was out of stock but I ordered another one like it.
Thanks so much for the info !
I have read a bunch lately. I came across an article in the last couple days about battery discharge rates. It said an AGM battery can be discharged to about 75% to be safe. A lithium battery can be completely discharged or 20% to be safe. Does this mean that a 100 ah Lithium battery such as...
I know you meant volts. I was responding to the post regarding the 5 amp or 4 amp model for charging Lithium Iron and I do have the correct one. Sorry for the communication. I do understand If the max it puts out is 13.6 that's all you were going to get.
Blue Sea is the fuse block Will uses. Square D is my 200 amp breaker box?
I thought you were saying I was incoherent and should make the post more coherent
Surprise !
I disconnected the 2 batteries in Parallel including the black cables 15 minutes ago. One says 14.48 volts now and is still charging.
The other said 13.6 v. This is the battery I posted a picture with a quarter size blister on top not quite as high as a dime.
Bet there is an issue...
Doesn't a grid tied inverter mean it can backfeed like a All in one grid tied. I don't know anything about grid tied inverters although I have seen them but paid no attention
Never heard this. Can you expand on this or give an example? Sounds like you are saying it can handle a Surge of Power better than Lithium. An analogy I am thinking is like a generator may be 3000 watts but can handle a brief 3500 watts. Yes I know I said watts and not amps but this was just an...
Man don't get stressed. You take Adderall for 25 years and you would understand what CONFUSION really is!! I have been pretty successful and customers would laugh with and not at me about it ! So no issues with coherent. You seem to spend all day answering post. You will need a break soon...
I hooked my Vmax 125 amp battery and it is easily out performing the Valence batteries. Something is definitely up. Will recharge the Valence without the blister on top and see how it does. I hope there is not a reason this guy was selling them for 325.00 plus shipping and yes he did sell out...
Ok so is this statement below correct?
If I have a AGM 100 ah it will last the same as a Lithium 50 ah of usable power before needing to be charged again? To not be so ambiguous can we say 50% discharge on both or 50% on the AGM and 25% on the Lithium.
I am just trying to determine if 2 VMax...
Look at this ling for my ATS. It says when the battery gets low it switches to grid. Works opposite a UPS battery backup. This is the same one Will uses and did a video on. 50 amp 5500 watt. WIll this work? Let me know
MOES Dual Power Controller...
I wonder if it would work with the Reliance manual switch and just leave it in the Solar Side and let the ATS do the auto switching. The Reliance may make the wiring much much easier but I have not seen one before
That is what I was thinking. You answered it in the "elementary terms" that I can understand !!!!!
Learning fast on this site.
On the Explorist.Life website it is $40.00 a month for 1 on 1 support. I paid for one month a few days ago and I am learning much quicker here and from more than one...
Ok. These batteries were on the charger for about 2.5 days connected in parallel but not to load with BMS cables connected:
1. They started at 10.8 volts from my memory and went to 13.6 volts finally but no higher.
2. Disconnected management and out of parallel and connected one to charger.
3...
I am considering going to a 24 volt All in One system. I currently have a Vmax Tank 125 amp battery which is $280.00. The only source I have for batteries for solar use is Amazon and what I have seen in the videos. If you know of other sources for batteries and batteries you have had good...
Now 1.5 hours later both are dropping to 13.75 volts and falling. Need to isolate and charge them separately then watch voltage drop when disconnected which one probably will. If one goes down to 13.6 volts could that mean a damaged cell or just the nature of one of the batteries?
Disconnected...
Wait a minute the Lithium 80 amp is $274.00 ? I admit I know little on batteries but what's the catch when Battle Born, Lion and others are 700.00 to $1000.00 ?
I recently purchased 2 Valence 138 ah batteries with 300 or less cycles that were used in electric vehicles. I have both in parallel and use a 4 amp battery tender connected.
When charged they go to either 14.5 or 14.7 and then slowly drop to 13.38 which I have verified correct. Green lights...
The reason I went through where the wires go is because I saw where Supervstech said neutral goes through the breaker which is not correct when talking about 110v. I must have not known he was talking about ARC breakers. I have one installed and if memory is correct there is a white wire...
Did you just learn this? I saw your post started about an EPPEVER MPPT and paid no attention. In 10 minutes they charged back to 14.48 volts and in 10 minutes they are dropping to 14.1 and lower. This sounds exactly like the same behavior as my batteries do you agree?
I know with batteries you need to use the same ones in a bank.
However, with solar panels does it matter? I have 2 Nature Power 165 watt batteries now. I want to add 2 100 watt panels is this ok?
The panels came with SAE connectors on them and I purchased a SAE Y to MC4 adapter and connected...
