    Mini solar generator

The copper wires are insulated, hard to tell from the picture. Its clear insulation (16ga speaker wire). I am assuming thats what you were referring to but if there are still concerns I am all ears.

    Mini solar generator

Thank you both for your replies! A new soldering gun is on my list. I think the cold solder joints is an issue on another project I have also possibly even though its technically working. I will have to watch some videos on gluing plywood instead of routering so much wood out. I have never even...

    Mini solar generator

Posted this partially built in a different post, just completed it! 5x 4400mah li-po pouch cells connected to a maker charging board. The solar panel is from Suntactics. I added a little fan for some air circulation per recommendation of another user. It kicks on automatically if the solar...

Help with 352AH Li-Po battery case

I am having an issue balancing the pack, not sure where to start troubleshooting. Parallel cell group #2 is out of balance compared to 1 and 3 that always stay balanced together. My top ideas: Charger issue (new one in the mail) Too much solder used (added resistance?) Length of wire to bms or...

Help with 352AH Li-Po battery case

Got it mostly back together. Waiting on the new charger, bms, and mppt solar controller to show up in the mail. Will update again after i (try to) fit all that in. Got it up to 11.5 volts currently, balancing right now.

    Small solar battery / charger

Thank you! Using the 5 watt panel, it charged from 3% to 60% in about 3 hrs, and that was sitting on my table behind a foggy window on a cloudy day. I think it should be 15ah useable power. Using it to charge phones when camping mainly. I have a portable solar bt speaker, but its only a 3000mah...

    Small solar battery / charger

Ahh good catch, yes heat is a thing isnt it! At the very least, the cells lifespan would lower from the heat. I do have an extra little inverter laying around, maybe I will add some cells and make a new case. How many AH do you have powering your little setups?

    Small solar battery / charger

I had a random thought last night to use a small solar panel I've owned for years (and rarely use) and mate it with some batteries. I have a SunTactic sCharger-5 thats been sitting in a bug out bag for too long. I also have some extra 4400mah 3.7v pouch cells. Came up with this idea to match...

Help with 352AH Li-Po battery case

I just realized Im missing a 3S balance connector. Can i plug the 4s connector into this B6 and charge it as a 3s? I would hate to trip a bms after all this work :) I would like to charge it up a little bit since all the cells are sitting at 3.05v - 3.06v currently. I dont know how long before...

My $850 720 wh Solar Briefcase (if you don't count the tools)

Very nice build. I did a build using the same case so its interesting to see a different variation. Love the parts list you provided...thanks for sharing

Help with 352AH Li-Po battery case

Perfect, thanks for the clarification! I will need to study up a bit more. I added the Daly 3s 100a smart bms to my cart, going to purchase it, since I am guessing it can peak to 150a-200a. It looks like you can adjust voltage cut offs, found some screen captures on one of their videos, so we...

Help with 352AH Li-Po battery case

Great info, thank you. I plan on using up to four panels, and being in AK I am thinking MPPT is the way to go since I also want the panels to be able to fully charge the unit and not just top off. I am going to transplant everything into a new case that will fit the BMS better along with a...

Help with 352AH Li-Po battery case

Thanks for all this information! I didnt see this reply until now and have been busy soldering most of the day. Took a few pics in between I posted below. I think I must have read your mind because I did exactly that and ended up with a 3S 26P configuration. Came out to 10"×7" and I have...

Help with 352AH Li-Po battery case

Tested the last 8 individual cells. 7 out of 8 were at 3.05v - 3.06v. Again, one of them was at 3.67. So the charger showing 4.2 must just be off and my multimeter seems consistent. I plan to discharge the 2 cells to 3.06 volts. I am really not wanting to disconnect all the other 60 cells and...

Help with 352AH Li-Po battery case

The charger was hooked up with alligator clips. For the meter i used prongs that i held on the leads pinched with my fingers until it was stable. I just finished un-soldering and testing 12 individual packs on the first PCG and 11 of them were 3.05v - 3.06v with one outlier being at 3.64v. I...
