I can't speak to active balancers, I've not used one, but it makes sense that two balancers might fight each other. An active balancer would be far better than the weak little one the BMS itself offers. Glad to hear you got your issue sorted out too!

Is the "whole terminal area must be covered" a critical thing here? I've seen folks using wiring with lugs in place of the flat rigid bus bars - and obviously the surface of the lug doesn't cover the entire surface of the terminal.

I think you misread my comment. I was saying one has nothing to do with the other, as far as the online calculators go.

I'm pretty sure those calculators only cover current/amps/etc., i.e. how many of X awg cable you should use to match the capacity of a single Y awg cable - nothing to do with how many you can physically combine in a single lug. The real test will be, like you said, if it's a solid crimp and it...
