Battery tester is so smart I can't understand how it works...

I bought a battery tester, typically for car use. 2 x croc clips. If you don't connect both leads well enough it tells you.... but it even tells you which colour isn't mated properly. How the hell can it know which one is dodgy? Explanations welcome!

Live Ground Shocked 5 Year Old

Turn it off & go back to the design phase & post your proposed design here for feedback. Don't try to resolve the current setup until you know what safe looks like. There's some horrible advice here and you could be one fault/action away from a lethal situation.

Heater element matched to solar panel output = diode string

Increasing the inverter size to cope with extra heating (which is probably the biggest load) has several disadvantages 1. You might not be allowed to connect the larger inverter to the grid 2. Having a larger inverter used with a smaller load means you're operating in a very inefficient region...

Heater element matched to solar panel output = diode string

@Steve T - IoW UK @upnorthandpersonal Have you built your yet? Any lessons learned or feedback? Do either of you have PCBs available and ideally, links for components?

Heater element matched to solar panel output = diode string

https://www.bel-shop.eu/controller-for-boiler-suplying-from-solar-panels-mr4316ac-ng-to-switchboard/ This is a commercially available alternative to Loadmaster allowing use of standard immersions inc mechanical thermostats. Not seemingly as elegant but available off the shelf or as a kit. It...

Heater element matched to solar panel output = diode string

Good thinking...But how do you switch DC without killing the switchgear due to arcing?

Have any of you all looked into building a Tesla magnetic Wheel?

You seemingly believe all this tosh. If you start posting relevant stuff I'll help. Any more nonsense & I'll report you & encourage others to do so. This is your opportunity to listen and learn... you won't 'convert' anyone here, they are too well grounded. 200 ohms or less typically.

    the rapidly changing inverter landscape

I always agreed with that until I have to hang a Victron Quattro 15kVA on the wall in a 5ft high shed with no room for a second person. It took me an hour to recover. I guess I specified wrong shed, not wrong inverter though!

How much can 4x 100a BMS draw in series?

    1. You can't put 12V batteries in series unless the manufacturer specifically states you can 2. Drawing 70A continuous from a 100Ah battery is pushing things. Expect issues , unless it's very intermittently used 3. Go 48V from the ground up

You're seeming very knowledgeable. Could you tell us about 5G cancer, Vaccines, Chemtrails & JFK? Don't make it too depressing though - I might go & jump off the edge of the earth.

    Underfloor heating.... outside!

Just daytime heat typically, but I *could* use some spare battery energy I guess.

    Underfloor heating.... outside!

I sometimes look at threads & wonder how many more times someone has to be told something before it sinks in! This time I'm the recipient! But I'm slightly defiant, because as you say, physics will determine it. So here are some sums to help me better visualize it & for people to steer me. BTW...

    Underfloor heating.... outside!

Thanks for your feedback. I believe there's a difference though... the air has almost zero specific heat capacity, or thermal mass. I do want cheap - I can't get a digger in there. It's 5m x 5m approx, stony ground, so digging that out will be a nightmare, and costly.

This post has really got me thinking. I might sell my EV & make one of these. Edit, but I don't like the shape of that cab, let alone the smug grin of the driver...
