    elongated bus bars

Hi. I'm thinking aluminum for my bus bars too. can you give any info regarding how you decided size? I've heard 4x20mm, and and also 10x30mm. Thanks -- Steve

Heltec BMS' (up to 350A) with Active Balancing & Independent Active Balancers

I believe this because crimping presses the conducting metals together with great force, while soldering may "bridge the gap" between the conductors if not crimped, and the solder itself can end up as the conductor, and is a relatively poor conductor.

Heltec BMS' (up to 350A) with Active Balancing & Independent Active Balancers

I have wondered if crimp-then-solder could be problematic. Since the wire and connector must be somewhat dissimilar metals, couldn't heating up the both of them to add solder decrease the contact area (from the crimp), and increase resistance? I don't really know of course and admit I am an...

    DIY BMS design and reflection

Hi. Not to be rude or nosy... may I ask if there is any word on your "state of reflection" WRT the BMS you have been discussing? :)

    Cinergi's 28 kWh / 4 kW Solar / 10 kW inverter RV build

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. I'm trying to put together my own 16 X EVE 280Ah, 48V system with only a digital design and software engineering background. This BMS design from @BiduleOhm is definitely looking interesting, based on the problems I've seen with some of the less expensive...

    Cinergi's 28 kWh / 4 kW Solar / 10 kW inverter RV build

Do you have something between the batteries in your box? I've heard that if the batteries rub together long enough, that blue outer cover breaks down and the metal case is exposed and can short to its neighbor. I'm a newbie, so I'll defer to others, but this was told to me by a guy who runs a...

    48v RV Build Plan

I wish it was for 200 or 300 amps. my EVE 280ah X 16 setup needs a bigger bms (I think! ;-). Thanks for this thread. -- Steve

    Bought 16 EVE LF280 Batteries

Heh. I like this even if it's pointed at me. Buyer Beware.. Ended up with all my batteries after ~ 2 mo.

    LiFePO4 Voltage Chart?

Thanks a lot for the response. Pretty sure I understand everything you said up to maybe the last sentence. WRT that, I think I understand you to mean that you don't want to check SOC using current if there is already current moving into or out of the battery (ie, current with current...

    LiFePO4 Voltage Chart?

Just read this whole thread. As a newbie I have to admit it is mostly confusing. Seems like, in this case, we've defeated the purpose of using a forum to gather accurate and meaningful data. I wish there was a way to separate the wheat from the chaff as you say. Guess I'll have to just keep...

    Micro Inverters

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I too am re-evaluating how batteries can help me out besides making very sure certain fridge items are always available. That was the first thing. Then other important things when power is turned off because providers can't yet deal with fire near their...

    Micro Inverters

Hmm. Good idea. I knew I wanted the batteries to eventually use for some kind of backup but I also mistook them as a requirement to run my AC. Thanks. -- Steve

    Micro Inverters

Lots of good information here for me to digest. Thanks a lot. -- Steve

    Micro Inverters

Thanks for your help. Of course my comment was a joke up top. I'm used to being the only one who thinks I'm funny. I will look over your and other's comments and figure out what I need to do. This forum continues to be invaluable. Thanks again everyone. Couple points just FYI: I live in San...
