  • Hello. I just joined this forum and found that I am having same open ground problem with my Reliable inverter in off grid house. Besides disconnecting blue wire from chassis, what other steps are required? House panel has neutral and ground on same bar which is earth grounded. Cable running from inverter to house receptacle is a 30 amp RV plug. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi. I'm thinking since you've bonded neutral and ground at the panel there's nothing else you need to do. When you test outlets fed from the panel, does it test correctly?

The only other thing I noticed was both on board outlet's were hot/neutral reversed after making the change. I fixed that by simply switching their connectors on the board.

The "fix" is in two parts:

    1. Disconnection of the blue wires - This is a safety thing so the shell of the inverter isn't bonded to neutral.
    2. Connecting Neutral to ground - I did this at the hardwire terminal, but it should work just as well at the panel. Just make sure you keep the neutral and ground seperate on any downstream sub panel.
