ARC flash and people who think Switch Disconnectors will help in emergency shutdown of lithium, PLEASE WATCH!

Well, they are pushing the limit to what can be acheived before unacceptable damage to the contacts. Not many of these small switches have DC23A ratings which is what personally I would use on anything I have, DC22B at a push. I think the key here is the contacts in any switch in any...

ARC flash and people who think Switch Disconnectors will help in emergency shutdown of lithium, PLEASE WATCH!

Hi, We use ABB OT and OS series and also Schneider INS/INV for just what you are asking for. Hager also so some MCB's that are DC rated and keep it will hidden, although I'm not keen on using mcb's for disconnecting DC side of a sizeable install. Switch disconnectors are what the post was...

ARC flash and people who think Switch Disconnectors will help in emergency shutdown of lithium, PLEASE WATCH!

Again, Like I said, I see a lot of people across the internet installing "Emergency cutoff switches" on the assumption it will prevent their RV from going up in flames if there is a fault, that is just an example. Just making a point for less experieced users making assumptions.

ARC flash and people who think Switch Disconnectors will help in emergency shutdown of lithium, PLEASE WATCH!

Read first and watch after. I see a lot of people installing "Switch Disconnectors" for DC Lithium Installs thinking that it can be operated when everything goes wrong to stop the fire, explosion or whatever they imagine would happen (this is not a single 70ah LA car battery anymore). The...

    PV earthing UK

For Land based PV installs:- A connection to earth of any of the current carrying d.c. conductors is not recommended. However, earthing of one of the live conductors of the d.c. side is permitted, if there is at least simple separation between the a.c. and the d.c. side. Where a functional...

    Merlin Gerin old Datasheets anyone?

I am looking for DC21, DC22 and DC23 data on Merling Gerin MGI1604 Switch Disconnector. The later indentical Interpact range have deratings for DC. The switches are identical to the older Merlin Gerin with addition of a newer branding. Before anyone states the DC ratings will be written on the...

UK test on 54VDC Battery installations SHORT CIRCUIT Everyone should watch

This is only Vented Lead Acid. Lithium would be interesting. BS EN 50272-1 2010 ‘Safety requirements for secondary batteries and battery installations’. Items which could produce sparks (e.g. manual disconnects, fuses, relays) should not be positioned within a battery box or directly above one...

Elcheapo Hydraulic Hex crimper results, as expected...stick to Burndy mechanical indent crimps eh! Giggles

This is my whole point exactly. Just buy the mechanical adjustable dieless crimpers second hand. They are made with the correct tolerances, certified when made and then certified again anually by the company/contractor who uses them . They give CONSISTANT crimping force compared to cheap chinese...

Elcheapo Hydraulic Hex crimper results, as expected...stick to Burndy mechanical indent crimps eh! Giggles

With reference to my earlier post linking the publications regarding Hex crimps not being gas tight. Here is a 2AWG cable which is a (nats knacker 0.5mm) under 35mm size metric cable inserted into a metric 35mm hex lug. Crimped using a 25mm hex hydraulic chineesium cimping tool. The wings are...

Elcheapo Hydraulic Hex crimper results, as expected...stick to Burndy mechanical indent crimps eh! Giggles

Personally I think those hose clips are way over the top and should be much thinner.

Calling all Copper Lug Guru's - which lug would you choose and why?

The FTZ look really nice, but is $80 for 25 lugs and then $135 shipping to Europe.
