In general I have always subscribed to the battery design rule "there is no replacement for displacement". But for camping, outdoor recreational use now I think it might not hold anymore. The idea of running 2000watt appliances like induction cooktops, hairdryers etc off of a 200-250AH LFP with...
I'm using 18mm marine ply to house my AGM batteries & just wanting to know what is a really good finish to protect it in the harsh marine environment where long service life is required? I'm after a finish that will last as long as possible, yet be somewhat easy to re-apply down the track if...
I'm building a very compact portable power station that will weigh total 45-50kg & my goal is for it to have a very long service life. Using as example two shore power chargers for some serious punch, each one costs me 1000AUD. Twin dc-dc charger, victron 3000watt inverter, hundreds of dollars...
Holy Cow!!!
Big thanks to fhorst, Dzl, & Steve_S.
That is some serious good advice & set me straight, or brought me back down to reality.
I will spend some time looking at those links, but sounds like I just have to accept the grey market quality.
Can we DIY get our hands on just 4 of those 3800 cycle CATL LFP cells? What is the rough price of the bare 280ah cells? Just trying to get a rough idea on the difference in premium vs diy grade.
Other questions,
What are the dimensions & weight of the 280ah?
Only info I can find on CATL LFP...
I'm looking to build an expensive portable battery system for outdooring, backup for power outages etc. And won't the best grade & matched cells as it makes no sense spending 1000's on the system then cheaping out on the battery. The CATL 202 & 271 look very attractive because of their high...
God help the poor soul trying to understand all this. Too much waffle.

So as long as you don't go over the Voc, don't wire up the panels backwards, fuse array when needed, & use a high...
I'm planning on having 3 12v batteries (4x calb CA180AH) in parallel stored in a large alluminium box that itself is mounted to the drawbar of an offroad CT. This camper has to ride over some harsh terrain, mainly corrugated roads which can kill flooded batteries and rattle your teeth loose. My...
Well if that evtv source is still correct today, that seems to say theCA180 is better over the SE200 which i was eyeing for more capacity. not worth it imo, stay with CA series.
Do these inside BMS units disconnect the battery itself from the charge voltage when full or when the battery stops taking in a certain small current? That is what I heard about one battery but unsure how would it work with the appliances running.
About to get my first DC-DC charger for a 100AH lithium, and decided to go with the Orion. Just not sure how it sets up exactly.
Is there a pure voltage sense for the unit turning on/off? Or does it need to be activated by a sense wire? By the looks & sounds of it, a pos ignition sense wire to...
