    Giandel Inverter remote control

Oops, I uploaded the wrong pdf. The LED can also be just a diode, but I used an LED to see it pulse. When you push the manual button, it puts power on that side of the switch. Power I don't want the Arduino to see or feel. When whatever is telling the inverter to power down isn't active and...

Renogy 200 Watt 12 Volt Mono Solar Panel, Compact Design, High Efficiency

Let me help you both out here. Run an interweb search for electrolytic derate. This will help with Caps on a hot tin roof. Might make a good movie too. Then run a search for electrolytic cap shelf-life. Next, search for electrolytic cap life-span calculator or just cap life-span for more...

    Giandel Inverter remote control

I have this thing working now. There are several ways to do this but this is the way that I chose. The pdf has a schematic and a physical drawing. There are three wires to solder on the board and three external, including the binary trigger, which is a 1 for on and a 0 for off. It was built...

Renogy 200 Watt 12 Volt Mono Solar Panel, Compact Design, High Efficiency

Hold on everyone. I am having trouble finding where I state the panel is bad. That was a question, that's all it was. A question. I implicitly stated just three things. 1. My 200 watt, 12 volt Renogy panel is delivering 60% of rated, in direct sun, (that means no clouds), and other...

    Giandel Inverter remote control

Actually, my schematic is different than the one above. The switch closes two of the pins on the rj plug. If my old memory serves me, bringing the left pin on the switch to 5v, the unit powers on. Repeating that, powers it off.

This is what mine looks like

    Giandel Inverter remote control

Nice, where did you get that? I would have loved to have that when I was poking and hoping last night. Looks like I got it figured out though.

    Giandel Inverter remote control

yes. Inside the remote switch box is an 8-bit micro that does something, but if I bring one of the pins of the rj plug hi, the inverter powers up. If I hit it again, it powers down. I am using an Arduino Nano Every to use the ETXIO4+ to trigger that rj-pin and monitor the power state using an...

Renogy 200 Watt 12 Volt Mono Solar Panel, Compact Design, High Efficiency

Ok, calm down. Clearly you are passionate in your opinions and believe them above all else. Thank you for your opinions and your efforts to convert me to your positions, but I think I'll pass for now. As a moderator I would think you would be a little less aggressive. Something you might...

    Giandel Inverter remote control

Thank you sir. I was just sitting here thinking about which micro to use, Arduino Nano Every or a Particle Photon. I really don't want to rip into the inverter, though I have no qualms about tearing that remote apart, again.

    Giandel Inverter remote control

Has anyone gotten their Giandel Inverter to remotely switch with a logic level, i.e., on/off? The remote control panel that comes with it is a "I'll think about it" button, meaning it uses a microcontroller to take a pulse from the switch and power down. That makes it extremely difficult to...

Renogy 200 Watt 12 Volt Mono Solar Panel, Compact Design, High Efficiency

I have to agree with him on the financial points. MPPT controllers are expensive, not all that efficient and fail. I've been in the electronics world since I started thumping tubes as a 12 year old in my pop's tv shop. Electrolytic caps do not last 25 years. No way, no how. Ceramic caps do...

Renogy 200 Watt 12 Volt Mono Solar Panel, Compact Design, High Efficiency

Ok, I figured you had a different method than just using a VOM with a higher current test rating than the panel. So, anyone else have input on the Electrodacus?
