Background
I am retired militaary with no experience with solar power but understand it's benefits as related to cruising sailboats that I have crewed on. I recntly purchased an off grid lot in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico with an abandoned camp that was once solar powered and has a cistern and septic tank. I intend to refurbish it and want to understand how solar works and how to determine the size and cababilities needed to power it.
Current or Future Solar Power System
The camp originally had several roof mounted panels which are broken and had a masonry battery room to house the equipment, and a toilet. I was also wondering whether a large portable system like the Jackery would provide enough power for basic 110V service and some 12V Engel Fridge Freeze units and operate the cistern pump. I envision this tobe a basic affair but some folks down there run mini split a/c units off of solar. San Felipe apparently has oneof the largest concentrations of solar power dwellings in North America.
