Following up on my previous report, after replacing the 2/0 AWG battery cables with 4/0 AWG (still using the same 2 LifePower4 batteries as before), the ASP no longer shuts down when starting the 5-ton AC (with soft starter) at night. The initial AC start-up surge would still tend to cause the...
Thanks, I checked the PV generation at different times today. Earlier in the morning, the ASP generated about the same power as did the 6000XP, maybe a bit less. But early afternoon at peak daylight, the ASP generated about 10% higher than the 6000XP typically did. But today it was both sunny...
A lot of good information on battery bank and battery cable sizing. My initial post about the overload shutdown was focused more on why the grid bypass didn't prevent the output power shutdown (regardless of what failures exist on DC side, couldn't the inverter switch to grid bypass output to...
The AC compressor starting current varies from start to start. I've been seeing values (as reported by the soft starter) from 33 amps to 50 amps (240V), or 8 kW to 12 kW. The blower consumes an additional kilowatt. At the time the inverter shutdown occurred, SOC was just about 50%. Last...
I ran a 6000XP for four months and returned it due to a problem (prone to tripping the ground fault on my EVSE) that could not be resolved despite trying various suggested settings/experiments. After I returned my unit, EG4 did release a firmware update with N-PE bond fix; perhaps the...
By providential timing I needed to do this last night (extend the discharge period beyond midnight). I decided to use the opportunity to test the midnight transition. I stood in front of the ASP's display and observed the status as its displayed time advanced past midnight. There was no...
I believe my utility company does detect power backfeed. Previously I tried one of the portable systems (which was not supposed to have backfeed capability) and was surprised to see my utility company's online graph suddenly showing a new category (power fed back to the utility). This only...
Passing on some information from Borick.
Regarding whether SRNE could fix the issue of setting 62 must be 50% or higher to avoid issue of ASP becoming stuck in bypass mode after fault shutdown, their answer was, "sorry, there is no way for the software to make changes at this time."
Regarding...
Regarding the V1.3 manual, I'm glad SRNE corrected the recommended battery cable gauge and added "The voltage setting logic: 【15】<【12】<【04】<【14】<【35】<【37】<【05】<【09/11】" text at the start of the settings section. Setting 68 (AC output phase mode) has a new "No N" (180-degree phase without...
I have two PV strings connected to my ASP, facing different directions, and one string is twice the amperage of the other. One string regularly produces twice (or much more depending on the time of day) the current as the other string. I have not observed any problem with one string limiting...
I thought I saw others mention sending the password via the command. I didn't realize this wasn't widely known or would have mentioned it. I've been using the Solarman Pro installer interface for remote management. Using command 65 to send a password enables the ability to change settings...
The version 8.17.15 was displayed on page 6 of the LCD. I just wanted to mention that page 8 seems to display a second firmware version number (1.04 on my unit).
My unit already has setting 4 set to 49.2 (whether at factory or by BMS I don't know). Setting 14 is set to 49.6. Once I increase...
Thanks, I think I'm seeing the effect of the LCD screen being on (with backlight off) and thought I was seeing burn-in image. This is a relief. I definitely wouldn't dismantle mine just to look at under sunlight either.
The relationship is "【15】<【12】<【04】<【14】<【35】<【37】<【05】<【09/11】", meaning that the value of setting 15 must be lower than setting 12, etc. The inverter won't accept/save a new value for setting 12 that isn't greater than the current value of setting 15. The minimum value for both settings 12...
Go to "Monitor" and then select your plant. Next select "Devices" and then select your inverter. On the upper right hand (if you see three dots, tap the three dots), select "Remote Control." Then select "Single Command" instead of "Batch Command", and then select command 65 ("Set 65 Password...
I remember seeing reference to someone running with parallel HYPs. A couple of people did report problems (https://diysolarforum.com/threads/srne-240v-trouble.89901/) with split-phase parallel configuration; one was able to solve the problem and then it worked fine. Definitely test the voltage...
For the past few months I've been running an EG4 6000XP, which has been very reliable except for one problem that EG4 could not resolve (tendency to trip ground fault on my ClipperCreek EVSE when switching from grid bypass to inverter output). I've been following @42OhmsPA with his experience...
I have soft start on my HVAC, and the reported actual surge often is 8 kW for the compressor. With the load of the blower fan plus baseline load, it puts the surge at just about 10 kW (without the soft start it would have been much more). Since I had to get another pair of battery cables (and...
Mine was shipped with 8.17.15 and (displayed a couple of pages later in the LCD display) 1.04. Unfortunately I have no information on what changed in the firmware versions nor what the latest firmware version is.
I'm using 2/0 AWG battery cables (sized for the 6000XP). Interestingly, the SRNE manual page looks the same, but recommends 1 AWG instead of 4/0 AWG. EG4 6000XP's manual also recommends 1 AWG. The 1 AWG recommendation does seem too small. It's possible that 4/0 AWG might make a difference...
I have a discharge period ending at 00:00 (midnight) and a charge period starting at 00:00; that has worked fine for me with the ASP. I think you'd be able to use 00:00-10:00 and 18:00-00:00 to avoid needless switching at midnight.
If you are brave enough to order and actually get two of the 12kW hybrid inverters for $2200, I think you'll find that suddenly there are fewer people asking about the ASP 10kW testing news and many more people waiting to hear your testing news!
I previously asked Borick about the missing setting 71, and they also requested a video of scrolling through the menus. Then they responded that setting 71 is a reserved setting that will be removed (from documentation, I assume) later.
Borick should be able to confirm whether the SEI is the same as HESP but without the SRNE logo. When I initially contacted Borick for ASP price quote, they sent specs on both ASP and SPI and indicated that the SPI is ASP without SRNE logo.
Thankfully my area very rarely loses power, so I don't have much first-hand experience with how well either unit handles grid loss switchover (I think I did simulated testing once or twice by flipping off the grid input breaker). One ASP is nearly the output of two 6000XPs, and in parallel mode...
Were you able to observe the display as the failure occurred, or were you only able to observe the logged alerts and the display afterwards? With the ASP, I did encounter situations where starting a large (5-ton) AC (with soft start) sometimes causes the inverter output to turn off and then...
Borick sent me the following parallel connection guide last July. The document doesn't show ASP as applicable model, but they said I can use it as reference. In the examples in this document, the parallel cables run only between adjacent pairs of inverters (no loop).
Looks like the Growatts are off the wall! Is your location getting about average of 4 peak hours equivalent (daily yield = panel rating * 4) this week? 75 kW x 4 h x 7 / 2 = 1050 kWh (assuming half of your panels are connected to the 3 ASPs). That's pretty good weather!
Using BMS comm between battery and inverter vs. using shunt/SA seems to be a one-or-the-other debate. Do the two options have to be mutually exclusive? The great thing is that we have options to choose from to get the tradeoff we want for our use cases and priorities. BMS SOC isn't the most...
That's unfortunate; perhaps SRNE made an improvement here in the ASP firmware. Did someone mention that a newer version of ASF firmware is available (I might have read this in the Sungold ASF-rebadge thread)?
If you are testing this through the midnight transition, standing in front of the...
Truly "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose"! Some of the incremental steps in my solar journey has been because something didn't work out, and He used it to make me take the next step/option. I would have...
The load was a 60000 BTU AC, with the starting surge current reduced via a soft starter so that one ASP could start the compressor. Previously I tested the AC and did not encounter problem with the inverter shutting down. But I did my testing during the day, whereas this failure happened at...
I was anticipating needing to get a communications hub for protocol compatibility, but LifePower4 batteries worked directly with my ASP with menu ID 32 set to 485 and menu ID 33 set to PYL. I used standard Ethernet cable to connect the master battery to the inverter.
The 10% peak daylight PV generation increase is real. I overlooked the fact that one of my PV strings could clip the 17A per-string limit of the 6000XP. With the ASP's 22A per-string limit, clipping did not occur, thus the higher peak PV generation. This was another unexpected bonus (I don't...
Are you asking whether any significant problems have been encountered with the ASP? In the few days since I installed mine, it does seem that more oddities have occurred (one window AC unit tripped its AFCI breaker several times when starting, one GFCI outlet tripped when unplugging a small...
I don't have any experience with other SRNE models, only the ASP48100U200-H. As far as I know, the only firmware version is what shipped with the unit.
If this is a clone of the SRNE ASP 10kw inverter, I was able to fit 4/0 gauge 5/16 lug battery cables on mine. It required removing the plastic inserts from the inverter's battery cable inlets, but it does fit.
Unfortunately my PV generation is insufficient (except on rare days) to cover my daily consumption. So I've learned to live with this annoyance instead of flipping the grid input breakers every day. Otherwise I'd be like the sleep-deprived Dunkin Donut baker in the old commercials: "Time to...
Using built-in BMS communication does have the benefit of less hardware (doesn't need a smart shunt or external agent reading SOC to get usable SOC-based inverter control). One poster also mentioned a situation where his BMS detected internal hardware fault and was able to quicker alert the...
With EU single-phase 240V, isn't the hot wire 240V relative to ground (vs. US split-phase, where both hot wires are 120V relative to ground)? Does this mean you have to use EU power supplies on your crypto miners?
I'm curious what is the advantage of the EU-type kettles; is it that they work...
I needed to adjust my programmed charge/discharge schedule last night and decided to use the opportunity to test the daylight savings time transition. I adjusted my schedule to create a transition at 2:30 AM. Thankfully the ASP did perform the transition when the time jumped from 2 AM to 3 AM...
From the perspective of the two wires (the hot wire and the return wire), it's 240V the same. But would something bad happen when the ground wire is connected? That's the part I've wondered about.
Is the 23 kWh figure reported by the car itself or measured going into the car's charge port? Depending on the car, the charge efficiency probably is around 85-90%. The efficiency of the inverter discharging from battery and inverting to AC probably is around the same order. Depending on your...
Maybe you have the LXP (https://manuals.plus/luxpower/lxp-series-lxp-3k-hybrid-inverter-manual)? I don't have personal experience, but I notice you have "Charge Priority" enabled (this setting seems to be used to inhibit battery discharge) even though you don't seem to be using any of the time...
That's unfortunate; hopefully someone who's familiar with this inverter could unravel this mystery. What does the inverter do if you disable "AC Charge Enable", enable "Charge Priority", set "Charge First Start/End Time 1" to 1:30/5:30, and change "Priority Charge Level" to 50%?
North American 240V appliances that also use 120V power would need 4 wires (to get both 120V and 240V). I haven't seen EU single-phase appliances, but wouldn't they typically have only 3 wires (hot, neutral, and ground)? When the hot/neutral EU wires are connected to the L1/L2 US inverter...
Before buying something new, you might want to try your existing generator to see if it works for you. I tested a Westinghouse non-inverter generator (spec THD <= 23%) running almost my entire home over a span of an hour of so and didn't encounter any problem. I do wonder whether the THD of...
I forgot about the different versions of SolarMan. Yes, I'm using the business version. Did you already invoke command 65 to send the password before attempting command 01? I don't have experience with the HESP; using command 65 first was what I had to do for the ASP.
Does anyone know if the LCD screen is prone to burn-in effect? I'm noticing distinct shadows (such as the solid circle in the middle of the screen) when the screen is off. I don't know if this is due to the design of the screen or symptom of burn-in effect (displaying the same image over...
The manual I received (from Borick) shows the model as ASP48100U200-H (10 kW US split phase, parallel up to 6 units). Others in the forum have referenced the same model. I have not seen references to ASP481000U200-H, but if adding one more zero helps SRNE to sell more units, more power to...
I tried APL mode too (just in case the grid power draw is affected by APL vs. UPS mode switching speed), but the grid power draw remained unchanged. So I went back to UPS mode. It's small enough (0.01 to 0.02 kWh per hour) that it's not worth adding extra hardware or procedures.
Using the following procedure, I was able to configure for use with Solarman web and app. To get the data logger connected to my Wi-Fi network, I had to use a web browser (as shown in the video) to connect to the data logger to set up the Wi-Fi parameters.
I've heard that one ASP is essentially two HYPs in one unit. If you're not limited in physical space and wiring and the HYP is working well for you, multiple HYPs could work just fine. I haven't kept up with latest prices; are two HYPs now cheaper than one ASP?
Are you asking for a way to acknowledge the error and temporarily turn off the buzzer alarm (until a new error occurs) without disabling setting 25? I'm not aware of a way to do this.
I have been running a 5-ton AC (also with EasyStart) and most of my house off inverter the past two weeks during 100-plus/110-plus heat wave, with the individual circuits connected via Reliance transfer switch. Below are the limitations I've encountered.
Even with EasyStart, the starting surge...
If MPPT on the "switched-off" slave unit continues to operate and charge the battery bank, that would be great. But would the switched-off unit continues to draw the 100W idle consumption? I have my second ASP mounted on the wall but don't have the AC wiring yet (not looking forward to that...
Note that the V1.6 manual is for the S (non-split-phase model) and your V1.2 manual is for the U (split-phase model). The V1.2 U manual might actually be newer than the V1.6 S manual.
