I am the only home in the neighborhood without a smart meter....also the only one with solar panels.
My local power company pays me 2 cents more to produce electricity.
20 year contract.
rate 9.38kwh + fuel adjustment costs
if this goes up.....so does my premium rate. +.2
I asked the same question at first.
Then I went back a reread his post.
He is going to put up 3 arrays (1 grid tie, 2 for backup on shed and yard I assume)
The 4.5kw grid tie will pay for most of his electricity and charge his car....the shed (2 arrays-48v 5kw) will be back up.
Yeah that has helped. After investing in a whole house energy monitor I started to understand how my house was using electricity. My old Panasonic Plasma was using 6-9kwh per day. That kind of wastefulness is not tolerated anymore.
Only if you do it yourself and you can get 30% back from Uncle Samantha. There are plenty of things in life people waste their money on. How many vacations or recreational purchases eliminate or lower a monthly bill for 20 years? Of course folks who have frequent power outages have other...
Point it at your rim joists and the top of your walls where it meets the ceiling.
This is my next project...insulate my rim joists....curious how it will affect my energy consumption this winter.
I installed a 4.88kwh grid tie Enphase system on July 23rd.
Peak power was 3.7kw (until late July) which is peak power for my microinverters 4x M250s(250w), 12x M215s(225w)
However I have not seen the system near peak again since August 3.6kw.
3.3kw is highest peak power I have seen in...
I have great credit.
I daisy chain loans and lines of credit ...pay them off...then I close them down.
My first cc was a one year 0 interest card that I used for solar only.
What I paid in 2014 vs. now (last column). I spent about $30,000 on the Geothermal and Solar.
3400 square feet
walk out basement
family of 5
SETN
running AC 8 months per year
No gas heat after adding Geothermal
Water Heater only used 36 kWh for September because of the Geo.
40,000 kwh per year...
These panels have only been deployed since July 23rd.
I did wash 2 of them to see if it made a difference. It did not.
I installed as many as the Grid Tie trunk would allow in the space that I had available.
Maybe I should have installed fewer panels and titled them.
Geo:
Waterfurnace Series 7 (installed in 2014)
Solar:
Mission Solar MSE305SQ5K Solar Panel (305w)(16x)
Enphase M250 60 (x4)installed in 2015
Enphase M215 60 IG (x12) installed in 2019
We switched from gas heat to Geo.....I do not notice a difference except our thermostat only fluctuates a few...
I am in SETN.
Yes those trees are north.
Note: I have had a 1.2kw system for 4 years so I am looking at 550kwh for September based on previous years.
I have produced 491kwh so far this month.
4.88kw grid tie system cost me around $3500 (after 30% tax credit)
It saves me $600-$700 year.
What is the 20 year return on grid tie solar vs. 1 week's vacation to Florida for a family of 5?
What is the average wattage and peak wattage for a residential home with 200a service box?
I have seen mine as high as 15,000 watts but the average is around 2,000w
In my area the monthly usage is around 1400kwh per month
47kwh per day or 1958w per hour.
It needs to be greater than 10 minutes.
I do not know what the standard is.
All I know is I have never experienced an edit timeout while I was restructuring my post.
Dryer....200-5500 watts for 50 minutes.
I use a clothes line but my wife does not.
I am considering the following: Portable Compact Lightweight Mini Twin Tub Laundry Washing Machine
I cleaned my panels tonight.
We will see if that makes a difference.
Sunny and 89° tomorrow.
Previously I went 4 years before i cleaned my panels.
It was obvious in June of this year that the production was affected.
