Overkill 4S BMS High Voltage Disconnect

Best not to post a Zip file.... as I agree with SJ.

Will Prowse - How about getting and dissecting an "Antigravity" brand battery

So... Will. Are you up to the task of seeing what makes up and Antigravity battery? I did some searching and do not find too much about them. Just a thought, thanks.

    BMS Wire Gauge

Well, realistically they should be the same. But actually it really depends on the maximum current that is expected to flow. So, as long as the smallest combined group of wires handles the load, then it really does not matter.

    My RV install

Yes, that is how I have it. I just have them labeled... but essentially, on the far right is negative connection for BMS' and left is positive, both banks in parallel.

    My RV install

Here are a couple of pictures of my install. 2 banks of 12vdc of 280ah each bank. Things are tight, but it all worked out.

    Load balance between 2 BMS

I have two banks of four 280ah cells (12v), each with a 120 amp Overkill Solar BMS. My question is, why do they not load balance? I had one giving out 10amps and the other 1amp. What am I not understanding? Thanks

How would you build this battery?

I would string them out like you show. I would also limit your charging to about 3.5v or less per cell. You will probably have a bit of expansion, but considering your load, should really not be a real problem. The cells will probably not last as long if not compressed, but I think they will...

    Cell balancing voltage ... ??

Thank you for the replies.... this confirms what I was thinking... that I should go to a higher voltage.

    Cell balancing voltage ... ??

I am only planning to have my cells go up to 3.375 v. So I am top balancing them to this voltage. My question is... is this an acceptable practice? Or should I go to a higher voltage? Are there pros and cons to balancing at a lower voltage? If I am going to set my BMS to a max cell voltage...

    My BMS box install

Yes and no..., I will have less than 50amp load on it and less than 25amp charge for it. I will have to see how it works out and make changes if necessary. This will be covered out of the elements (but very unlikely a possiblity of water getting splashed nearby), so if necessary, I will...

    My BMS box install

I have installed my BMS in a "water proof" box... as you can see in the pictures. I think it worked out fairly well.

Will this get too hot or...??

I have found a plastic water proof box that I plan to mount my OverKill BMS within. It is a 7.9 x 4.7 x 2.2 inch box and I will be using glands to run the cables through, thus no air circulation and such. My configuration will be two banks of 280aH batteries with two Overkill BMS, each in...

    Good review on supplier.

I picked up from the Houston warehouse last week 8 EVE 280aH cells and brought them back to Tampa. All in great shape and all about. 3.3vdc each. I am currently topping them off and balancing them for my project to replace my AGM batteries in my RV. Amy was great to deal with and the pickup...

RV Battery Build – looking for advice and such…?

Well, should negotiations fail with the boss, I can quit being the driver and the boss goes nowhere. So, I pick the battles based on weapons on hand. Based on what I think, with the capacity I am going to.... I think I will be good for a long while.... I have found a flat waterproof box...

RV Battery Build – looking for advice and such…?

I would have considered that... but the boss is unwilling to give space. I can lock my battery box, so that helps. As far as temps go... yes, but at different times it gets hotter inside than outside. Cold is not a problem. If it becomes so, I have a DC warming pad that I can place in the...
