I hope I did not screw this up Phocos PSW-H-5KW-120/48V

Found my slide rule today, pics attached.

Did anyone ever get a Phocos?
I got an email the day before Thanksgiving that mine was held up in port. Yesterday’s email updated with an expected delivery date of December 8th.

370 watt Phono panels from SanTan should arrive today.

Ordered it but still waiting for it to arrive. They sent an email that it was on backorder but it is going to be a while before I can install it so no rush. Now I am trying to navigate the permit process. It is going to be more involved than I was hoping. Anyone ever use the online services? I will probably hook everything up in the garage with a couple panels in the driveway when everything arrives just to make sure it all works but will be spring before I expect to have install going. Partly because I dont want to be on the roof in the snow.

Their entire shipment of inverters is stuck in a west coast port. Covid has slowed down the process of unloading, plus more products have been ordered from China in general, causing more traffic, so their are ships backed up for days just waiting. It's frustrating.

Just look at it as "glass is half full"

I picked up my panels from the shipping company this morning and now my bms showed up. Now if I just had the inverter/charger and batteries I would be all set to play.

I'm still researching what I want to do with a solar project, haven't even decided if it something I really want to do. But when it comes to grid-tie inverters, correct me if I'm wrong, I thought UL listing was mandatory in order to get approval from the utility to use the device.

I did not see any UL certification in any of the literature from the manufacturer I found for this model. I also checked with the UL website and I did find some certifications for solar charge controllers for company Phocos but this model of hybrid grid tie inverter is not found in any UL search.

UL listing is only mandatory if your jurisdiction says so. But I bet you are probably right about having a hard time getting the Phocos grid tied without it.

Working on building my first system. I ended up with twice as much solar as I was planning because I got a great deal on it. Now I have to find something that can take all that power, I wanted to run 250V to keep the amps manageable. The only reasonable price all in 1 hybrid I could find was Phocos PSW-H-5KW-120/48V
so I ordered 1. It looks amazing in the stats but it appears so new that there are no reviews I can find. Good deal or did I screw this one all up? By the way I have 10 315 watt panels in the way to go with it, $1200 plus shipping $1450 all together seemed like a deal to me.
Did you install the Phocos inverter, I’m having problems with my install as the output source breaker keeps tripping.

Instantly? Or after a delay?

If you wire output (protected load) side of an inverter to the grid, you're lucky if breaker trips and electronics doesn't get fried.

If your PV watts equates to more current than the breaker (more than 80% of breaker, for margin), it is going to trip.

If you have protected loads equating to too much current for a breaker, it will trip.

Just got my batteries a couple weeks ago. It is to cold to test things in the garage right now and still trying to figure out the permits. Probably won't be installing anything before spring or summer.

Well there are a few problems. It is not UL listed or even certified so no code compliant installs in the US. It does not have LIFEPO4 as a battery type to select, you can use user defined and put in your setting in. Not hard but a bit of a pain. It would not work with my generator so I have an extra expense getting an inverter generator. I have contacted Phocos 2 times for assistance the first time took 4 days to get a response, much better than many companies. Still waiting for the second, it's been about 4 days. The build quality looks great and it has several very nice features. I especially like the bluetooth ability. Overall I would say there are probably better choices out there especially if you want a code compliant system.

I like yourself decided to go for the Phocos all grid 230/48v. Reason being to use around my diy battery bank set up. It was easy to install. The only small issue I had was the settings menu which I finally have it just right now.
my battery bank doesn’t have a coms port to plug into the inverter. So had to valance batteries first and then hook up to the inverter. All is good now. I’m very happy with it. I only wish the weather was more favourable here in Ireland.

I had a good Phocos technician on the phone and email. He really guided me through the whole installation process too. Loads of patience. He was based in Germany.
All good here now. 4 stars to Phocos.

Yes I did. You have to take your utility line direct to the inverter, this acts as your back up. Take the ac output at the inverter to the fuse board. That should sort out the issue of tripping.
the other thing to follow is the sequence of flipping the switches during commissioning, this can be found in the manual.

I've been using a Phocos Anygrid 24v 3k 120 for over a year with no problems. I've been pretty happy with product performance, build quality and customer service who've I've actually contacted a handful of times and everytime they've been great.
