Are there any cases that fit 4 battery cells?

So I have four 230Ah Lifepo battery cells and I know that compressing them can help extend their battery life.

It would also be nice to have them contained in their own case to make it easier to move them if need be.

So is there any after-market cases that fit these size batteries good so that they stay compressed and also easy to transport?

Not sure if there's a pelican case or something that fits. Those are probably a bit overkill, but it is a nice case for transport.

Eventually I will have an additional 4 cells for a 8 cell, 24v system. So cases that could potentially fit 8 cells would be of interest. However, that may be a bit too heavy and keeping them 4x4 side by side for easier breakdown & transport, but still able to be close enough to connect together to form a 24v system.

Thanks.

I'm not aware of any case that is made for compression. Most of us are making our own for this.

Do you have any links to any DIY materials everyone is using?

Best I saw with LithiumSolar on youtube using thick acrylic on the ends with threaded bars to compress them together with.

This will work great, but looks a bit rough.

I was hoping for something with a more finished look and easy to transport.

However, adding carry handles to the outside acrylic panels wouldn't be difficult and would be very functional.

The only suggestion I can make is that it's possible to avoid threaded rod, and thus avoid the possibility of additional metal in the build that might cause a short.

I intend to buy this stuff whenever my cells show up since it's made for this.

That's a great point. If I remember correctly, LithiumSolar sleeved the threaded rods in some type of plastic tubing.

If he didn't do that, I'll now be doing it regardless with this build.

I used a standard marine 27 series battery box for my 280AH cells with compression, 150A BMS, and two 10W heaters.

That sounds like a great setup, especially with the BMS in there.

Do you have any pics or a build thread?

Since mine are a bit smaller, I can still use thick acrylic pieces to fill in the gaps on the side.

There isn't any concern with these batteries getting hot when compressed together inside of a container vs. open air batteries getting great airflow around them all?

Oh that's sweet, thanks for the link!

I found these down the marine battery rabbit-hole, has anyone used them and do they work with Lifepo batteries?

Would be nice to have in the setup, but ultimately I will have a 3000w Victron Multiplus.

But until I get my entire system bought and setup, this Smart Battery box will be nice to be able to utilize the battery cells now during an emergency.

It may take me another 6 months to budget out the rest of this system, and we've already had several power outages where I live. They haven't lasted long, but I'd still like to have these cells available for use now during an emergency while I'm building out the rest of the system over the next several months.

Whats the feedback on that Smart Battery Box?

If it would work with my LifeP0 cells, I'm going to buy it this week.

I need a case for them to protect them and get rid of the huge box they're currently sitting in.

I would also love to be able to have the various charging capabilities that particular case offers.

Are any of these marine cases actually waterproof?

Minnkota makes the almost identical case for less. I’ve got one and it’s great.9FA06CDA-2108-4B03-9504-5EAB76DE929B.png

Ok, those to be about $10 cheaper, but they don't have a USB port like the one I linked to for $65 does.

I guess it comes down to whether I want USB directly installed or have to get a 12v adapter to do that. it would have been nice if they added like 3-4 USB ports to that side.

But can I add my 4 230Ah LifeP0 batteries to this box and just use the the ports like normal, I don't need an inverter or anything else?

I have a BMS, but I don't know if the one I have will fit inside that box.
