Does anyone know who might have a 400A class T fuse in stock for a reasonable price? I just missed out on buying one from fisheries supply, and now they’re quoting 6 to 7 weeks until they have stock again. Digi-Key has them, but they’re asking for $110 each, vs the $25 from Fisheries. All my other usual suspects are also showing out of stock.

eBay!!!!

I've never bought a new class T fuse. If you look around you can generally get them for about 30-40% of the original cost, and fuses either work or they don't, so the chances of having to worry about one being abused is pretty slim. Judging by the sellers of the ones I bought, I think they mostly came out of forklifts and server racks.

Weird. When I checked stock yesterday, they were available.
It claims they're in stock, until you add them to your cart. Then they don't have enough quantity on hand to fill your order of 1. I think it's the same logistics crap that's hitting everything else.

The 20 or so (new and used) ones on ebay aren't having logistics issues. Just saying...

I’ve bought a lot of stuff off of eBay over the years, but I’m a little leery of buying a piece of critical safety gear there.

I'm worried more about the manufacturer rather than the seller. I agree 100% about buying things on eBay, UNLESS they are top tier products. I would definitely avoid cheap no-name stuff though. There's lots of eBay vendors that buy brand new overstock from wholesalers, and ones that sell a lot of used stuff from corporate and government facilities. If you check out the sellers other items you can normally see what they're in to.

But we do buy our cells out of China.. and we all know, there is also a lot of crap available from Chinese vendors. Safety testing is not invented over there.

It all comes to some research. If overstock or electronics waste is their primary business, its highly likely to be genuine stuff.

If they also sell dolls, phone covers and bluetooth speakers.. they might just be a trader which doesn't care about knowledge/quality, but just goes for the profit.

If they have decent reviews and sell a lot of other related stuff, I won't mind buying used genuine professional stuff.

Battery Hookup Ferraz Shawmut ACK 400 0-125VDC 400a Fuse ,
not T class but good price for 400 amp then use enclosure.
just a thought.

That one is 10,000 amps aic.
I guess that means 10,000 amps at 125VDC so guess that means much higher at lower voltages.

I've been playing with a few of those recently. The specs are similar to Class T's, and they were SO cheap on BH, I couldn't resist. IMO the form factor is a little bit wonky, but I've been working on that with some flat copper pipe.

Is there an off the shelf holder for ACK fuses?
What about torque specs?

I couldn't find any holders, and I assume the torque specs change pretty drastically when I resolder copper pipe to it.

Anything "stud mount" is normally pretty easy to make a bracket for.

Edit: Found a break chart for the FS ACK's.

Try Home Depot. I got A3T T-Class fuse in like 4 days. Free shipping too. and reasonably priced considering the many sites I visited looking for one.
