Can I run an appliance off a one EG4 6500 EX 48 with a 48v 100ah battery or does this need to be set up as split phase and I need a second EG4 6500 EX 48 ?

Please and thank you

Can 2 of the EG4 6.5kw inverters run my whole house which is all electric? I have a 2.5 ton HVAC, hybrid 80 gallon water heater, dryer, and range. Those are all the big hitters. I plan to have to have 60kw eg4 batteries and have the utility as a backup in the winter months.

No. Way more work and research needed. Not enough battery power for your needs.

how long do you want to run it?

I’m averaging about 25kwh day not including the 4 winter months. I figured I will have the grid as a backup so I should be good. Plan on having 1 set of solar arrays facing south and the other set facing west. About 5kw per array. If need be, I will get more batteries. What do you recommend for battery storage? And will 2 of the inverters be enough to run my home or do I need 4?

I do this now with LV6548s. Practically the exact same units, EG4 has 500v VOC and LV6548 has 250v VOC.
Get SolarAssistant.io and you will have a lot better experience.

Jason, are you using 2 or 4 of the lv6548’s? How much solar and batteries are you using? I’m assuming your house is setup the same as mine?

2 LV6548s. I could use 4 for sure. I max it out on the output side sometimes if I charge my car at 11.5 kW.

I have 6.9 kWp of PV and ~57 kWh of battery.

I have a gas furnace(85%), gas range and gas water heater. Everything else is electric. 16seer HVAC, 30 amp electric dryer.

I feed my loads panel directly from the inverters to power my house.

So are you using the grid as backup or solely off grid? And are you using any type of transfer switch via manual or auto?

I'm 98% off-grid, if the batteries get low, I switch back to the grid and usually by noon the batteries are back above 60%. I use a manual switch.

Would you have a drawing of how your setup is? I have a general idea and in the works of designing mine. TIA!

Couple of questions…

1. It looks like your transfer switch is installed between your main panel and your inverters. I would have thought it should be between your main service and the main panel.

2. Looks like your have 6kw connected thru the solaredge then to your main service. I’m assuming this is for net metering?

3. The pic only shows a single inverter. Are you not running 2 lv6548 in parallel mode?
