Monitor JK BMS with Solar Assistant?

Nope, to be honest didn`t manage to conect the bms to sollar assistant like you did with the TTL adapter i still get invalid data received.I have also the RS485 dongle from JK but no sucess. When i sent e-mail to solar assistant they pointed out this forum page and nothing else. They told me that they will make a help page soon. Waiting for it. ...
What adapter do you have wired to the JK RS485 adapter? From what I can see on this page https://solar-assistant.io/shop and scroll down to Battery USB Cables and going through all of them they all seem to have the “FTDI chip” in all of them. I’m not sure how significant that is to this, but given that all of his cables have it I’m sure it means something.
If I were you I would try this one
(Industrial USB to RS485 Converter with FT232RL Embedded Protection Circuits 300-921600bps Baudrate for Industrial Control Equipments or Applications)
https://a.co/d/8oqOFuJ
I’m pretty sure the FT232RL is the “FTDI Chip”

To be clear, I connected the TTL to USB adapter from the RPi directly to the BMS (no jk adapter in between)

Seems your the only one that manged to do it, maybe share some info on how you done it ?
I thought I did?!?
1. I used the adapter I specified in the top of my post (Post #15) TTL to USB adapter direct connection from RPi to BMS.
2. I then setup the RPi with the latest beta ( instructions here; https://solar-assistant.io/help/updates/beta ) ( I didn’t wait 24hrs, I waited with RPi unplugged from power for a minute or two and the software update was there when I restarted it)
3. I setup the battery connection ( Instructions here; https://solar-assistant.io/help/battery/configuration) I set it up with the “USB to JBD RS485” (only one that worked for me)

Hope that helps!

Remember you need to hook up Rx to Tx and Tx to Rx between the Adapter and the BMS connection. Like this

Do you have an inverter selected in the config page?
I do not have a JK BMS, I'm running whatever is in the EG4 12 Rack Pack, but I needed to select an inverter (used voltronic, USB direct), then selected the battery protocol and hit "connect" in the advanced screen.
That's how it needed to be done to get it working on EG4 with no inverter.

Hello I use the adapter received from JK with this one : https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B078X5H8H7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
but its not working, i will not buy anymore any adapters at all until people from sollar assistant will confirm which adapter is working 100% i have asked them several times but i have no reply. The TTL to USB adapter i haven't receive it yet waiting for it to try your option, and see if it works, with my adapter i get invalid data received for any bms i select in solar assistant.

Yes it is working for me with the ttl to usb adapter , however i really have no ideea how @Huck managed to receive so many info, and how he managed to connect to jbd bms, i have tried but i get no response. Retrying. But if i select jk bms it conects only i have verry poor info :( compared to Huck

You have to cut the plug from the jk adapter and wire it with the ttl to Usb cable. Be careful red wire needs to be isolated! DO NOT CONECT RED WIRE!

Congratulations! You are officially the first one to post that has been able to connect using the “USB to JK RS485”!
So you were not able to connect using the JK adapter with the use of a usb to rs485 adapter?
Is your SOC accurate?
Oh and can you post what BMS, SW, HW you are using so we can get a data base going? If you look at my Solar Assistant photo I attached mine shows in “Model Name”.

Just connect to the two center wires to the BMS plug side and your rx tx of the TTL adapter. Use the photo for reference on post #23 . I will also input this photo. Can’t remember where I got it from but props to whomever it belongs to (#don’t sue me bro)

It’s nice to see Pierre is working on it!F84031B8-BDDF-4393-AE51-F187A7D400F5.jpeg

Hello,

The conection is indeed jk to rs485 in solar assistant but wiring is direct cable usb to ttl directly into bms.
Info is acurate only unfortunatelly is verry poor.

Awesome, Thanks for the response. All info is helpful!
It appears that you have a very new Model BMS.
What App are you using in that second photo, I don’t recognize it?

I have been able to get all 3 of my jk bms to report into my solar assistant but with basic info. Any word on cell voltages?

Can you let us know what exact BMS's you are using, hardware, and firmware for data base thanks.

Pierre at Solar Assistant did note "basic info". Perhaps he will work on cell voltages and setting configuration in the future!?
