Victron multiplus 2 will I need the ml3-usb?

Will I need this? I have a basic grasp of this stuff. The mk3 is for ve config which is “more” than Victron connect.

Question is will I need it? Victron connect has a “lithium” toggle, and I can set up absorb and float voltage, and charge current. As far as I can tell ve config gives me assisntants, to,set up remote start, and fancy relay stuff.

Any reason I’d need mk3? I just need a basic inverter/charger function, but yet if there’s a reason I may need the mk3 I’ll have it shipped now instead of later

VEConfig AND VictronConnect will need a MK3-USB to connect to the inverter.

The VE.Bus smart dongle that allows VC to connect via BT is extremely limited in configuration options and is essentially only for monitoring.

If you have VRM, you don't need it as you can do a remote download of the config file, edit it with VEConfig and then upload it via VRM.

Without either option, you will not be able to meaningfully program the inverter for anything.

I downloaded the Victron connect app and played around withdemo. I thought for some reason I could connect via Bluetooth and utilize all the functions of Victron connect (which is limited compared to Victron configure.)

So are you saying if I have VRM I don’t need the mk3, or the dongle? Or both? How does VRM connect?

VE.Bus inverters do not have bluetooth.

The only way to connect VC or VEconfig to your MP-II for configuration is via a mk3-usb.

You can connect VC to the MP II with the VE.Bus smart dongle (BT), but it is for monitoring only. IIRC, the only think you can change is the AC input limit.

If you already have a GX device in your system, you can have VRM. The GX device would need internet access.
