One of the first decisions when designing a system is what the system voltage will be. This paper attempts to help sort out all of the different factors in deciding system voltage. Click on the orange download button above to get the paper.

Note: A big Shout out to @Dzl for his excellent reviews and for providing a large portion of the Text for the paper.

As with All resources I develop, Corrections, comments and reviews are welcomed and encouraged.

This list omits All-In-One (AIO) Inverters, which are quickly becoming popularized and the go to choice through this website as a better alternative to portable solar generators and traditional DIY solar setups. This list has been given 2 star rating based on the importance of this topic, its location, and common need for an updated 12v, 24v, or 48v guide and process in which this information is used.

The resource section has somewhat adapted primarily into videos and through the DIY blueprint section of the website, however mobile-solarpower.com is lacking some of the deeper understanding overviews to differentiate the products based on individual needs and all the required decision making information through the steps of getting started to making a purchase.

AIO systems mostly eliminate the complexities and need for the book purchase. But the core information such as this resource are still needed before making a purchase which can be difficult for customers to locate and use without the resources being updated and adapted properly. Considering that the information is shattered across in forum, in the resources section, the videos, the book, and mobile-solarpower page, it makes the information less accessible and less useful for the community. Although customer come for the rich information, they may be discouraged in the manner of the layout and inefficiently utilized information.

I just scanned through the document. Even though it does not mention AIOs, I am not sure what needs to be changed. The basic information and decision criteria are all the same with AIOs as it is with individual components. If there is something that is specific that needs to be added, please let me know. I will be happy to update it.

As far as layout of the resource section goes. You are correct, beyond the high-level subsections there is very little 'organization'. However:
1) I can't do much about it. I am just a community member that went to the effort to write a lot of documentation and added it to the resource section to try to help the many members of the forum community.
2) This is primarily intended to be a *discussion* forum and for a long time the resource section did not even exist. The resource section was added as a non-curated, community created and community supported section. It is here to provide links to useful information so that people could point readers to detailed documents and info rather than re-type it every time the same old question came up in the discussion section. However, the resource section is not, and was never intended to be, any type of unified tutorial or textbook on solar and battery. (The resource section *does* have a search function that can be used if the reader is looking for specific information.)
