    Choosing SPD

Just additional clarification: following that 500V and 1000V will work just fine for my 160Voc SCC, in my case, it is better to go for the 500V, right? I mean 'cause it's relatively closer to my SCC's max Voc. Similar logic with circuit breakers.

I see. Thanks! That really makes sense.

    Choosing SPD

I see the max Voc of my SCC is 160V. Can you give me an explanation why the 500V and 1000V models will work just fine? I really want to understand it better. 😁

    Choosing SPD

I've watched videos and read articles but I'm still clueless on how to definitively choose the proper SPD for my solar setup. What I understand so far is that I need to connect/parallel the DC SPD to the PV cables going into my SCC. I'm not sure what SPD to use though. I mostly see 500Vdc and...

6pcs 150W vs 2pcs 450W solar panels (both in series connection)

If all other conditions and components are the same, is there a significant difference to the output of the two configurations?

Solar charge controller is randomly restarting

I found out just yesterday that the SRNE ML4860 solar charge controller that I have is the same as the Renogy Rover 60 (Manual).

Solar charge controller is randomly restarting

Apologies, I forgot to get back to the people here. I did manage to solve my problem by using another SCC (PowMr 60A) that can take the voltage of my series string. I'll use my older SCC soon on panels with lower voltage. Anyways thanks again for the help. :)

Solar charge controller is randomly restarting

Hi there. Just wanted to let you know that I'm compiling everything you asked for. I also did some further testing and now also have a video of when the SCC restarts. :)

Solar charge controller is randomly restarting

Sure. I'll compile those. To answer your question though: The total Voc of the 5 panels are at 133.25V. The SCC can handle 150V max Voc. I have the same random restart problem even with just 4 panels (3 older ones, 1 new one; total Voc of 106.6V).

Solar charge controller is randomly restarting

Yes. The total Voc of the 5 panels are at 133.25V. The SCC can handle 150V max Voc. I did. It was fine with just the 3. The 3 older panels + a new one also exhibited the same random restart problem. I can compile them if that helps. Just datasheets for the panels and SCC?

Solar charge controller is randomly restarting

I'm trying to figure out why my solar charge controller is randomly restarting. I have a 5 panel series string connected to a 48V 60A solar charge controller. The string of panel's output (voltage, amperage and wattage) all fall under the SCC's specifications. I have yet to properly ground the...

My two new panels seem to retain rainwater

I see. Will look more into this.

My two new panels seem to retain rainwater

I see. I did wipe them earlier but just with my hands. The older ones have significantly less water on them. Also, wiping the newer ones with beads of rainwater was hard since they seem to be attracted to the panel.

My two new panels seem to retain rainwater

The older and newer panels are 3 months apart. Might explore solutions to rainx. Not too concerned about that. What I'm concerned about though is if the rainwater beading up is causing enough shading that it's the reason for my solar charge controller to randomly restart. I'm still trying to...

My two new panels seem to retain rainwater

I took these photos when the rain weakened. I noticed that first 3 panels (shown the images below with an almost mirror-like finish) I bought doesn't retain rainwater but the 2 new ones do. Any idea why this happens? They are same panels from one manufacturer from the same seller. Additional...

Mix 150W and 170W solar panels

Unfortunately no. I can't find anything like a detailed datasheet. This is the best thing I have: https://www.bluesunpv.com/bluesun-roof-shingle-solar-panels-170w-customized-solar-cell-mono-all-black-solar-panel_p482.html By the way, how important is it? Is it critical or a nice to have?

Mix 150W and 170W solar panels

You're right. Based on my computations, the Voc of all the panels in series is 123.25V. This is my solar charge controller. I'm not sure what its performance with overpaneling, but it's a well regarded charge controller. I did the math on temperature coefficients last night and it doesn't...

Mix 150W and 170W solar panels

I want to add solar panel that are different from my existing ones. I hope you can give me specific insights about this. :) Here is a spreadsheet of my computations. As far as I know the total voltage of the string of PV array in series fits within what my solar charge controller can handle...
