    The charge controller will reduce solar output when the battery is charged, im assuming you have lead acid as Lifepo4 would show 14.2 and "State" shows Float, When charging it will show "Bulk"

    It seems illogical that a solar charge controller should fry itself if PV is connected before DC, clearly is this not a design flaw in all controllers? They should be designed to deal with DC & PV regardless of connection / disconnection sequence.

    I fully understand this but the point is we all think the bms will protect the battery and our systems when in reality it comes down to Fuses and common sense. In normal circumstances we would never ask more from a system than it can safely deliver but im thinking what if's here.

    You don't connect the the remaining terminals together, the positve + is now main positive, the remaining negative terminal is now main negative terminal. Those wire go to plus and minus on your inverter

    I'm assuming here you only connected + to - or visa versa with a single cable? The remaining + & - are your new 24v feed and they don't connect but again its just an assumption as i don't know what else would cause this. No doubt someone will know more

    My understanding is that pouch cells are the same Lifepo4 chemistry but because the pouches were easily damaged in transit etc they now case in aluminium. So nothing different, just don't see them much. Kepworth batteries use pouches so do some eco worthy lifepo4 batteries.

    Zero feedback, likely another scam store. Best avoid. If you must use aliexpress don't buy from any store that hasn't been in business for at least 3 years and has 98% or higher feedback. Check all reviews, one star reviews as well. If it's too good to be true it always is.

    I can recall people using a lightbulb covered with a garden clay pot as a heater. The heat from the light bulb heated the clay pot, but yes call around some scrap yards and see if they will donate a couple of batteries and try find an inverter for free too. Sad situation

    Anyone tried a Kepworth battery?

    From the teardown I've watched they use 8 x 50ah pouch cells about a foot long. A 100A bms and the USB ports and charge port aren't fused . Capacity wise I think they did OK for a budget battery. If I recall it's a 0.8c test. It's on youtube.

    You would need to know what energy you are consuming 1st. An energy audit using watt meters would give you an idea of what your using or use old electricity bills. You can then calculate what size system you need
