Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

I have a longer winded review coming soon on my 15k. I've been using it on "off-grid" (ie plugged into a 50A generator plug) for ~15 days in a row now (battery got down to 3% last night... never ending PNW rain), but so far no complaints (or shutdowns, including running water heater + dryer +...

    Signature Solar EG4 6.5K Off-Grid Inverter | 6500EX-48

For sure. Lots track of pro-nouns between my quoting of Dan and you :)

    Signature Solar EG4 6.5K Off-Grid Inverter | 6500EX-48

"They" being 6548s yeah? I was trying to say (and ive never tested to verify) sol-ark 15k aren't independent per leg, so you can get higher single leg output with some balance coming from the other

    Signature Solar EG4 6.5K Off-Grid Inverter | 6500EX-48

Sure, but loading 6600w on one leg, and 3000w on another is an overload here. Where in a sol-ark I believe it's the IMBALANCE that matters. So on a 15k you can do 8000 on one and 2500 on another and that's ok

    Signature Solar EG4 6.5K Off-Grid Inverter | 6500EX-48

FWIW other inverters like the 6548, if one overloads (ie one phase), the entire group shuts down

    Signature Solar EG4 6.5K Off-Grid Inverter | 6500EX-48

I think CEC response time is in the 1/2 year range +

    Signature Solar EG4 6.5K Off-Grid Inverter | 6500EX-48

This is why I just said "fuck it" and got the sol-ark 15k. Its sitting in my inverter room for an off-grid test right now actually. It was _way_ more expensive than the 6548s, but: there is no N-->G weirdness. The inverter is not bonded, and if the output is not bonded it will error and...

    DIY California Permit'd Sol-Ark Build

Are you going to have input power on the inverter in the garage to allow some bypass/mixing?

Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

Yeah, I mean being outdoors In a stupid salty/hot enviornment I could see possibly being less than ideal, plus if you want/need to adjust/reboot it in the middle of the night and its pouring rain that might suck :) but these should be pretty hands off once configured

Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

So yeah, we lost power for ~5 days in a row with this storm? And lost power for 1-3 days 4 or 5 times with other storms.... I originally had a 32*280ah setup and another 32*280 in a van, and we had to be pretty conservative w/ power to make it through those 5 days (using 1 growatt 5000es +...

Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

It would moderately protected outside, as its under a pretty big eave and near the shed, so it never gets directly hit by sun rain or snow (or atleast not much)... See the pic below The shed isn't going anywhere, but its not anchored AFAIK (pre-dates me, so im not sure but doesn't appear to...

Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

The way the counties are setup, thats about a 90-120min drive, so i haven't revertted to that yet. They do have a recommended contractor list but i am 0 for 4 there. Prepping the wire Is probably a good idea. I can get the ATS, disconnect, and everything else moderately setup. I am still...

In an off-grid setup. Getting eletrcians in rural west WA is f**** annoying. I will post an effeciency graph sometime soon, but tldr looks like it sittings between 94 and 97% based on load

Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

Sol-ark hasn't given me much info via email. I asked for some and they pointed me to their webpage, but the closest 2 are whole solar companies and won't install a self purchased inverter. The next closest is over 130 miles away

    sol-ark 15k grid install check

Attached is my rough in plan for the A/C side. I am wondering on how to actually get the A/C from the transfer switch back into the house. Currently the mains go from the meter through the wall directly into the main panel. Is it allowed by the NEC for the output from the transfer switch to...

Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

right... which is why I think they didn't understand/actually read the diagram I originally sent. I am pretty close to just doing it myself... The install is simple. I am trying to find a freelance electrician to atleast give me plans a once over to make sure im close and the permit would get...

Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

I am comfortable working on the mains etc, where I get bit is I don't know the ins/out of the NEC, so I don't want to incorrectly setup the disconnect (such as an invalid bend radius, etc) or conduit or entry to house or something stupid and have to get that re-done. I want to set it up like the...

Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

It turns off ac output but otherwise stays on. Will look into settings more tonight. Electrian spent a week to give me a 3k install quote and then clearly didn't know how to install it when I asked for clarification... Looking into a self install now

55w with the inverter off per your other suggestions. ~34w reduction from inverter on standby

Sorry to be clear I'm talking about the nut/ratchet side, as the pic shows my 5/16 connectors fit
  25. H

Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

Absolutely not 3/8. Definitely 1/2 For ac side it's also 10mm, I don't have a 5/16s handy, but there is a tiny bit of wiggle room so maybe 5/16s would work

No firmware updates yet, what changed? Not yet either, electrian working on that soon

🤦 yeah the "beep" under display did it. Got my rs232 --> USB cord so now I have it connected to my solar-assistant. Works without issue there.

Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

Agreed on #4, I think the PV connector is very solid, no complaints #3 is what I did for a very temp solution as well before going to the interlock (bonded, probed, verified... turned off, unbonded, connected to interlock, rebooted)

Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

I can sorta do this. I am planning on putting in an outlet directly to the output, then I can put a killawatt meter on to verify its output power accuracy, assuming those line up, I can then re-hook up the house, and put different loads from ~300w to 12kw and see. Likely won't post this data...

Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

FYI 89 watt idle consumption When pulling 6.61kw it was using 6.57 from battery and .47 from pv, for a toal effeciency there of ~94%. This was no shunt verified though, will do more effeciency at different load tests this weekend

Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

When I swap the house back onto this i'll set the disconnect voltage back to 46v so it can run 24/7. Itd only be set to 56 when I am "offline charging" for a few days. TBH since this is now a 3 string 500v (vs 2 425v growatts) MPPT I might be able to put enough panels out to sustain 24/7 until...

Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

might be worth a shot. Can just set the battery shutdown to 56V or something. Or you know, since this is a 500voc mppt, I can just toss another panel to each string and that would probably cover the power loss heh technically, our county has "right to wire", so I Can do the work myself as long...
