Correct temperature compensation for these batteries?

Ok, well I will see if I can find any more information from the supplier, the shop only provided me the datasheet you see here.

Correct temperature compensation for these batteries?

Anyone able to tell me if -3mv per cell will do sny harm? Thanks

Correct temperature compensation for these batteries?

These are 120AH 12V batteries, sorry it looks like the datasheet provided to me had showed a different model number, but same series. Here is the model number: AT121000DS

Correct temperature compensation for these batteries?

I'm trying to work out what the correct value is for these batteries. I'm installing 2 of them in my friends RV in 24V configuration. The epever controller has a default of -3mv/c Looking at the charge voltages specified, it's a bit lower than most AGM batteries I've worked with. The dealer...

    Connecting multiple epever controllers together?

I just got a message from the supplier. They told me to get one of these. Looks like its designed to connect them to the internet via an ethernet cable more than anything. https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32972086033.html

    Connecting multiple epever controllers together?

All good, seems it should be OK then, I guess the only real benefit would be to grab all the charge data from the controllers so I can monitor it all over the internet on my app.

    Connecting multiple epever controllers together?

So they should be all OK if i set the battery settings all identical on all of them? I use AGM batteries, so temperature is important, I guess if I need to have 3 separate probes, its no big deal.

    Connecting multiple epever controllers together?

Ok thats helpful. If I can't connect o er wifi, I guess it's no big deal. The main issue I was wanting to address was to get the main controller to share the data to others such as temperature from the probe. Are there typically many issues having them in parallel if they cant communicate with...

    Connecting multiple epever controllers together?

TBH, im trying to make head and tail of it all myself. Been looking at the datasheets here, but neither seems to show such a configuration, here is the datasheet for the product in the link i posted: https://www.epever.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/RS485-1M2S-Manual-EN-V1.1.pdf It looks like...

    Connecting multiple epever controllers together?

Will one of these work? https://m.aliexpress.com/item/1005003667817769.html I have an epever tracer 6420AN that connects to my main bank of panels and want to add the couple of existing banks of older panels to a pair of smaller epever models. They only have one rj45 port on them so they can't...

Have i drained my bank too far?

Ok thats good to know. I have about 900W spare from the old panels, but will need another 2 separate controllers to use them. They are 2 banks, 2 of them are 170W and another 3 at 180W. The most I've seen coming out of the panels is about 800W or so. This was when I switched on a load. Will need...

Have i drained my bank too far?

Thanks, ive increased the boost to its max which is 180mins anyway. I dont have a huge demand for energy use at the moment, but I will be monitoring power usage to see what its using. From what I can tell, it appears to be charging OK. Ive got a tracer 6420AN, looking at its specs, I think I...

Have i drained my bank too far?

That's interesting considering my charger does not even display it as a setting anywhere. It must be just a preset profile from factory or something? 🤔

Have i drained my bank too far?

Well that's pretty much what I observed myself too. I think my batteries were just getting down at the end of the day and couldn't cope with the current.

Have i drained my bank too far?

I figured it was probably asking a bit much but also figured that I would typically run the dishwasher during the day when there is sun, I would have needed double the panels if I doubled the battery capacity and this is really just a temporary measure until I get round to upgrading to something...

Have i drained my bank too far?

8mm cable to the batteries from the controller I think. I know it was rated for more than enough current when I checked. I think its a 60A breaker between the panels and controller, not sure on exact size of cables to inverter but its pretty heavy, at least 12mm diameter with chunky terminals...

Have i drained my bank too far?

I tend to think this is the case too. The inverter may have been on, but I wasn't checking, the only thing that would be taking any power would be if the fridge motor was running. I will see if I can find a clamp meter and check the current. I know it was reading lower the other day, but was...

Have i drained my bank too far?

OK, that's not much! I need to really get up at first light and see what this bank is getting once charging commences. The panels are 2S2P and 50V each and 420W giving 1600W and 100V My batteries are also 2S2P configured for 24V. My question is if these batteries are nearing full charge if it's...

Have i drained my bank too far?

I have 1600w worth of panels available feeding this and intend to add my old panels to the system to add almost another 900W of capacity from the old panels. I have no idea if being winter here that these panels were anywhere near max output or not, but the sun was up. I can't even extend boost...

Have i drained my bank too far?

I checked on the system today and I discovered I can't extend the boost duration anymore than 3 hours, so just set it to that. Voltage was still about 29.4V after about 4 or more hours of daylight and still drawing some amps, see screenshot below. Is this controller going to be suitable if I can...

Have i drained my bank too far?

Yes sure thing, I got caught out that day as I thought there was plenty of charge. If 10.8V is too low for 50% I might raise it to 11 volts to be safe. But I doubt I will be draining these batteries much in a typical day.

Have i drained my bank too far?

Yes I'm looking at those battery monitors. I dont know if it's going to help me much if I'm away and can't switch on the genset to boost the battery. Here I was thinking that the charge controller was able to monitor the batteries and just connect it to the cloud via the app. These victron ones...

Have i drained my bank too far?

Ok thats helpful, so really I should set this to say 5 hours and perhaps slightly lower the boost voltage to 29V? If I knew the limitations on these controllers, I would have gone for something different, but I didn't know enough at the time about how the stages of charging worked, but I was...

Have i drained my bank too far?

Ok, perhaps this is where I'm going wrong. (Ser my above post) my epever definitely does 3 stage charging, but I'm only using boost and float. The retailer was hopeless when I spoke to them and they said just leave it on the default setting from factory for sealed batteries, but the voltages...

Have i drained my bank too far?

I need to take a better look when they are charging next time, ive been away at work and have not been around to monitor voltages. I haven't been using them long and suspect that they are likely taking more current now that I'm using the bank and draining them. The batteries were new when I was...

Have i drained my bank too far?

I was told that putting too much juice into these batteries at once isn't a good idea either. I think 30 to 40 amps or so will extend their life instead of going for 50 amps or more. Anyway, isn't 26V the normal voltage for a fully charged bank? Thats what it was always reading at the end of a...

Have i drained my bank too far?

That's the thing with epever controllers they only do a boost phase at the beginning and then switch to float charge. There is no bulk charge.

Have i drained my bank too far?

Well this is what I was worried about mostly. I didn't leave them sit for long, but it appeared to be climbing before switching on the generator. Either way, is the rule that 10.8V under load is safe? This is supposed to be the 50% limit voltage for pretty much any lead batteries as far as I...

Have i drained my bank too far?

The controller does a boost phase for 2 hours each morning. I know that it doesn't feed typically anymore than 10 amps max into the bank that I've seen at 29.2V. I'm assuming this is because the batteries were largely fully charged. I can change the setting to do a boost charge for longer if I...

Have i drained my bank too far?

They are AGM batteries. Why do you think I've killed them? The discharge settings was set to the default of 10.8V per battery under load for lead batteries. I was more concerned if I had discharged them down below 50% or not, im starting to think this is not the case, dince the voltage popped up...

Have i drained my bank too far?

I was doing a bit of a stress test on my battery bank yesterday after setting up my new install to test its limits. I had boiled the kettle and used the toaster a few times during the day and put the dishwasher on that night. My bank has 540Ah capacity at 24V which gives me close to 6.5kwh of...

Bubbling sound with new AGM battery bank

Well I got everything switched over yesterday and all seems like its working OK. However, there is still some unbalancing between the batteries, despite them all been left in parallel to charge over the last week. Seems to be about 0.3 V difference between all the batteries. 2 batteries are...

Bubbling sound with new AGM battery bank

Ok sweet, so given these settings are within spec. I should just leave it as is and just walk away and forget? Still feel uneasy about bubbling, but if it's within the specs as per temperature, etc then I shouldn't need to worry and just consider it as normal.
