Let me start you off, until the usual "know it all" shows up. I suggest spending some time, researching this matter. Only because it will he YOUR decision, in the end. As I understand, it is unlikely for you to make lightening strike any more frequent than nature. The issue with solar and...

Pros/Cons: inverter-charger combo vs buying separate units

I'll get things kicked of. Someone here is bound to jump in. And disagree with me. (It'll be fun) All-in-one is the crase these days. I own one and enjoy it. Although I keep spare charge controlers on hand. Some argue, if something goes wrong with the mppt, inside, the entire unit my be out of...

A logic analyzer? I want one!!! What is it and where can I get one? Your batteries my also be out of balance, I'm not sure how or when or what your voltages were at the time of install, but at this point a top balance would certainly not hurt. Ok....... later (I'm going to dream about my...

    Growatt 250V Inverter Update

Yes. This issue has come up a few times here. My best suggestions are; make sure you have the right cables, double check that you are using the right input on the inverter, all batteries need to have the same length cabling and if attached to a bus bar the leads to and from that bus bar need to...

EG4 battery to growatt 12k to power whole house

Here, I'll start.... Good idea, two 5 ton and a 3 ton a/c units is a lot of juice. I'd think a amp draw determination is in order. But, you may consider a "stackable" unit ( like a GS 12,000 *not UL*) and you may consider a UL unit due to the permitted installation (my assumption). I like the...

    Wiring question…

I appreciate your sence of humor. I would agree, 12g wire would be better. Always, up wire gauge when possable. And everything is so cheap and chinchy these days. As well, 12v dc can create a lot of heat in wires. People try to push their 12v too hard.

    Wiring question…

I'll start by giving you my opinion, and soon there will be others chime in to tell me that I'm wrong. Then, you can decide what you want to do. Ok, that's out of the way.... 20a at 12v dc is a fair amount of power. If you start your wiring project with a 20a fuse, your fairly safe. I would use...

    Flow of electric

Let's not forget, the old adage "electricity travels in the path of least resistance " has been proven false. It is now " electricity travels on all paths back to source " it may not seem important at first but, can be significant to ones safty and understanding of how electricity moves.

    Genetry solar 6kw inverter review

Just one more thing. I've ordered items on the rain forest site for years. Usually the item arrives the next day or 2. Lately, my orders are taking up to 3 weeks. And some, have been pushed off for months. I think there are supplier issues all over the world these days. Just something we are...

    How to handle freight delivery?

In my area, these days, the driver will not wait. And they don't even want a signature. If there is obvious damage, request the driver to make note before he leaves. Otherwise, take pictures as you unwrap. My claims have been to shipping co. First, they usually handle things pretty well. Good...

Looking for some info on Santan Solar used panels.

I had the same experience. The shippers covered the 2 panels and the portion of the shipping. They even refunded the full cost of one panel that was only cosmetically damaged. I wish you good luck with your claim. P.s. good pictures and as many as they want.

Does Solar Pay for Itself? Is it worth it?

As for me, I did the math.... about 20 times, and my payoff would be at the 10 year mark. I think I built the system as economical as possable, without kicking safety totally in the wind! As of year one, we are on track, within a small margin of error. I did figure in some maintenance as well...

    Current difference on rack batteries

My system is in constant use, so checking battery difference is a difficult task. That is, to be accurate... I would need to disconnect them from each other, allow them to settle for a bit, then checking voltages. As for charge/discharge current they don't vary much.
