Connecting several hybrid inverters to one battery - Manufacturers position

I have had great success using multiple inverters, batts and SCCs on two separate systems. My 24v system has 4P batts, 3 inverters and 8 charge controllers. My 12v system has 2 inverters, 8 charge controllers and 8P batts. All works amazing BUT, I have zero AIOs, everything is independent and...

Victron MPPT solar array help please

If you have shading that only affects a couple of panels at a time and there is no way of fixing the shading, you could consider breaking down your strings so the shaded panels dont drop out the non shaded panels in a big string. You would need smaller strings with multiple controllers. This...

Solar Panel price Soaring after June 6th?

I think that is everyones exit strategy. If anyone is sitting on the fence to order panels/gear, now might be a good time to go for it.

    Parallel epever controller not charging

It could be a sunny day and a cloud would roll by dropping solar off, it would not start up again was the issue once the sun came back. I left one for an hour and still nothing. Unhook the solar string for 5 seconds and it would work again. Also at first light in the morning. It would sit there...

    Parallel epever controller not charging

I was running 5 EpNevers but.....I had the SAME problem running just one. I started a post way back when with a youtube video of someone having the same issue. https://diysolarforum.com/threads/14v-low-light-epever-software-bug-or-back-feed-issue.46479/

    Parallel epever controller not charging

Many people (myself included) have had trouble with epevers getting "stuck" at battery volts and not charging. Usually when a cloud goes over or first light startup. It has happened to me many times while not paralleling. Reseting the string gets them going but who wants to sit around everything...

    Incompatible 100w solar panels? 100w x 4 in series

260w would be about 65%. Thats about what I would see with grape solar 100w - 4s with very hot panels.

Pv overvioltage . Does anyone know why my panels are creating more voltage than the rated voltage on panel. It is causing my string inverter to shut

The edge of cloud affect. Panels cool down then they get a blast of full sun. Who is to say you cant put two of those panels on a separate controller? I'm adding 3 more strings with controllers to my 24v system in a few days. It will add about 2500w (840w per string) As they say, just keep...

Incompetence from Signature Solar & Solar Sovereign

My neighbor got a complete order from them. The sales person sold them 2 strings of panels at 245v VOC along with two AIOs and some EG4 LiFePo4. The AIOs they sold them have a input MAX input of 250v.

Easiest way to protect appliances against DC voltage on AC output on non-isolated off-grid HF inverters?

I have an aims 24v 4000w LF beast monster. That means at 1% load its burning 40w + 40w = 80w. But add in the idle overhead is 92w, lets say 92w+40w+40w = 172w. If true, that would be some where around 23% efficient. Its like driving around a M35 deuce and a half. Nothing can stop it but don't...

Easiest way to protect appliances against DC voltage on AC output on non-isolated off-grid HF inverters?

Copper supply is the least worry, silver on the other hand...there is not enough for everyone to have solar. Thats the bigger issue or elephant in the room as the saying goes. I will have to read those links. There is definitely some cool stuff that can be done with fast switching HF inverters...

Bah hum bug - new Victron inverter noisy at idle...is this normal?

Sounds about right on the fan noise. Like a bad bearing but I could see PWM issues causing it as per the service bulletin. Thats a bummer about the hum noise but its not an issue for me since its remote. Might not be good for others. I'm surprised I have not heard about it on this forum. On a...

Bah hum bug - new Victron inverter noisy at idle...is this normal?

If its normal, I'm fine with that. It isn't in a living area but in a shed. I just want to make sure there isn't a failure going on creating some harmonic or such thing...I'm use to a Magna-sine that is quiet unless under load.

Bah hum bug - new Victron inverter noisy at idle...is this normal?

Where are you purchasing from? I would avoid Amazon. Its loud enough to hear across a room easily. I also noticed the fan has a bad bearing. I got in on Amazon and it had signs of previous install. It may have been a used returned item.

Easiest way to protect appliances against DC voltage on AC output on non-isolated off-grid HF inverters?

Seems like burning to "OPEN" is going to be the more common failure. I am also surprised they let HF grid tie in the states. I guess they figure its rare enough of an issue, no need to worry. Appliance damage from the grid could be more likely then from an inverter. Something to think about....

Bah hum bug - new Victron inverter noisy at idle...is this normal?

I just got my first mulitplus II and got it hooked up. 24v 3000kva. It has a load 60hz hum/buzz at idle and under load. Is this normal for this inverter? I have other transformer inverters and they are silent at idle but can buzz/hum under load. I haven't checked idle current yet. It does work...

Easiest way to protect appliances against DC voltage on AC output on non-isolated off-grid HF inverters?

There transformers are on the output like typical LF inverters so it provides isolation from the driver circuits. You can still get interaction if there is a problem but at least its through the transformer which is not directly wired.

Easiest way to protect appliances against DC voltage on AC output on non-isolated off-grid HF inverters?

I agree, its all about making them lower cost. The big issue is likely the life of the inverter and not a shorted FET. I want my inverters to be reliable and HF inverters have shorter lives then LF. And yea, its kinda weird they even make HF inverters if you think about it.

Easiest way to protect appliances against DC voltage on AC output on non-isolated off-grid HF inverters?

Easiest solution is to buy an inverter with an output transformer. I wouldn't worry about it but next time get something with some copper under the hood if it bothers you.

Vacuum won't bring mini-split line set to minus 30

While we are on the subject of mini's....does anyone know how to get them to pump the refrigerant back into the outdoor unit? I have two mini splits I might want to move. Might not be possible on these cheap mini's. EDIT...never mind, looks like they pump down to the outdoor(compressor) unit...

Solar Panel price Soaring after June 6th?

We are in a deficit for physical, much higher then being reported. China used 400million oz, last year just on panels but they are reporting half that. We are going back to metals for money. Why else would the US mint ad the security feature to the newer coins? For fun? The price being held...

AIO High Frequency Invertors. Warning They don't Have An Iron Core Copper Wound Output Transformer.

No good, you get good conductivity through the stream...lol Point is, with HF, your "stuff"(inverter parts) are exposed to the hot side.

AIO High Frequency Invertors. Warning They don't Have An Iron Core Copper Wound Output Transformer.

Easiest way to explain the most important part of the HF vs LF debate; HF = peeing directly onto an electric fence with bare feet. LF = peeing next to an electric fence with rubber boots on

Quiet, reliable and cheap. Pick two.

What determines the size of your system…??

I build my systems so they are easily expandable. Want more umph? Just add another string. Want more storage? Just add another battery. Need another power circuit? Just add another inverter. Once the system reaches a good size, build another system.

Vacuum won't bring mini-split line set to minus 30

Some good info on here. Lots of people don't have the best tools to setup mini splits but they do what they can. I would add, if someone is investing in the right gear, pick up a core depressor so you can isolate your gear without re-introducing air into the system when you disconnect. They are...
