Well, I lost 2 panels last year during a hurricane so I had to improve my ground anchors. We will see how well it does this year.
Vertical mounting with bi facial panels in a east/west orientation is very interesting. Lots of good videos online with details. Definitely worth a try. You're...
what does "best from China" mean? In my case, DIY is not an option due to local codes and permitting. Everything has to be engineered, permitted, and UL listed. I've priced SOL ARK and it costs more. A wife friendly system doesn't hurt either.
That's on a Chademo DC fast charger. I think the CCS adapter is cool but its too buggy and expensive for me. Our Leaf covers all our regional travels with ease so it hasn't been much of an issue. We just use our truck for long distance towing or my wifes forester for long distance travel...
Hey Will, my son is in the process of applying for college and writing essays for college admissions and scholarships. One of his topics is the politics of EV adoption and the forces behind them. Would you be willing to answer a few questions at some point?
Jasonoid's videos are excellent https://www.youtube.com/@Jasonoid
and I'm currently addicted to
Smith HVAC with EG4 solar videos https://www.youtube.com/@SmitHVAC.
A single panel would be fine. Bifacial panels are just heavy and expensive. You might be able to come up with a cheaper mono panel or combination of panels for the given space that you have available.
Looks like the Powerwall 3 uses MCI's (1 for every 3 panels). So I would need 6 for 18 panels according to the Tesla installer.
From the DIY stand point and using EG4, Its difficult to come up with a full system list to submit to engineers to even give me plans.
Another interesting piece of information. The Tesla Powerwall 3 doesn't require additional hardware for rapid shut down and meets both 2017 and 2020 code requirements. Its my understanding EG4 (6000XP ad 18K) would both require additional RSD devices such as Tigo to remain code compliant for...
I've considered going the DIY guerilla route but I don't have a good spot where 8k worth of panels wouldnt be very obvious and attract the attention of the local inspectors. They actually have people that drive around and look for code violations around here to A. generate fines and B...
So I actually know a bunch of roofers due to my business. Around here, they are either predatory or don't have any experience with solar and are too busy to learn just for me. I would rather pay a professional solar installer to do that part right. That being said, I do have an account with...
That's the general idea. "selfish solar" setup. Unfortunately, shading makes a large ground mount system difficult. I would have to trench about 50 yards away and still have to permit everything with the county so the roof mount vs ground mount would likely end up being a wash cost wise when...
This is likely the cheapest route but where do you find a professional installer that will install just panels with proper permitting? When I ask the local solar companies about doing this, they just flat turn me down.
BTW, I already have a "cheap $600" inverter (Growatt 3000 TL LVM-ES) that...
limited yes, impossible no. I skirted around the county with a small 3kw system by calling it a "portable solar generator" but I won't be able to do that with a larger system attached to the roof of my shop.
I'm already a signature solar customer and I would prefer to stick with the DIY route but I'm unable to install panels on a steep roof and the county permitting dept won't even talk to me without engineering plans. Do you guys offer any guidelines or plans for code compliance?
I'm in Eastern NC, specifically Pitt county. We are sort of a solar black hole county due to an unfriendly permitting debt and terrible net metering rules.
A single Powerwall 3 is $8400 and you can get $500 off with a refferal code. You get $1100 off each power wall when you buy more than...
installing around 8k of panels on my shop to power lights, tools, outlets, a 12k btu mini split, and a level 2 EV charger. I've been pricing an EG4 18k system but I can't find anyone to install it. Our county permitting department is very anti solar and anti DIY. They won't even talk to me...
So my LifePower4 battery had some issues so I sent it back under warranty and upgraded to the EG4 LL V2 battery. Thank you to Sig Solar and EG4.
I had no issues with communications with the LifePower4 battery but when I hooked up the LL V2 battery, the Growatt still showed Voltage instead of...
message Markus with EG4 on this site. There are several YouTube videos detailing the process. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of your issues are related to battery imbalance. Steps…. update firmware, manually top balance for a couple weeks, then utilize communications to help keep things...
