JBD smart BMS displays wrong cell voltage

In my case it was a faulty unit as I have another unit which didn't have the problem when connected to the same cells. I have just ordered 2 4s 200A one from Alibaba, I only need one and I am ok if one of them is faulty, it's about $70 a piece.

    Does Battleborn design their BMSes?

Without specialized welding tool it's PITA to connect these cells, and why? the prismatic cells are smaller in volume, easy to work with.

    Does Battleborn design their BMSes?

I came across this post https://diysolarforum.com/threads/wow-inside-my-battleborn.27513/ and the picture shows a BMS inside the battery, it's really not that much different from JBD BMSes, same layout . The supplier model number seems to indicate it's a off-shelf unit. I have always thought...

About to order a few 304ah cells from Jenny, anyone knows what's the difference between the 302ah and the 304ah cells? I don't really care about the 2ah difference, are they similar quality wise? Thanks!

    105ah x 2 and 2000w pure sine wave inverter

I can only fit 1 single 280ah DIY battery. But that would cost me around $800 (cells + 200A BMS). I recharge them in 3 different ways - Converter/Charger - 50A max, so max charging current 20-25A per battery, I have been doing this for a year now, no worries. - Solar panel, I have 300W solar...

    105ah x 2 and 2000w pure sine wave inverter

Hey folks, Currently I have 2 LiFePo4 banks (105ah x 2, with 2 120a JBD BMSes) in my small camper trailer and it works very well. I am adding a 2000w (continuous) inverter and wondering if it's safe - The cells are rated 1C, so if I trust that it should be fine, but I am worried the...

    DC-DC charger current limiting

Hey all, OP here, great to see all the comments in this thread. I think waiting for Victron for a software update doesn't seem to be a viable option, as the hardware might not have such capability. I have just purchased 1 step down converter and 1 boost converter from aliexpress, both have...

Can 280/300ah cells reliably drive 2000w pure sine inverter

yeah, 2000w continuous, 4000w peak output, I don't think they mention at temp - the operating temp is a wide range, spec at https://www.renogy.com/2000w-12v-pure-sine-wave-inverter/?gclid=CjwKCAjwjdOIBhA_EiwAHz8xmxvOCixgTlEZtAso-t24gzagKAVO0Pl96QARoaqxuMlWUCTv5ERJABoCIjkQAvD_BwE I got this a...

Can 280/300ah cells reliably drive 2000w pure sine inverter

Thanks! I will likely use one of the brokers on this forum to get the cells, not sure if they supply BMS as well. I have purchased many things from aliexpress and I have to say I'd rather pay a little more to have a good mood :D

Can 280/300ah cells reliably drive 2000w pure sine inverter

Can 280/300ah cells reliably drive 2000w pure sine inverter

Thanks, due to space constraint I can't have these cells in 4s2p configuration, My current setup is actually 4s2p of 105ah cells, with 2 120A JBD BMSes. the inverter I have is a 1000W one so they do fine. in theory they should be able to pump out 210A per data sheet, but the tiny terminal screws...

Can 280/300ah cells reliably drive 2000w pure sine inverter

Can 280/300ah cells reliably drive 2000w pure sine inverter

yeah, these 280ah cells popular on this forum. I don't know which brand/seller has ones that can handle 200a discharge though. I remember a few days back I read some brand are only good for 0.5c continuous discharge. That won't work in my application.

Can 280/300ah cells reliably drive 2000w pure sine inverter

Hi all, I am wondering if these 280/300/310ah cells can reliably power a 2000w inverter continuously (> 10 minutes) in a 12v setup? Let's assume BMS can handle this. I plan to build a 4s 12v system in an RV with a Renogy 2000w pure sine wave inverter, and run some high wattage...

JBD smart BMS displays wrong cell voltage

It was a defective unit, but the aliexpress seller used all tricks one can image to not be responsible. After 2 weeks of back and forth, he finally admitted it was bad unit and the solution he offered was for me to send the unit back to him at my cost, I checked it took about $40 plus time. so I...

2000w inverter with long wire, will it work (safely)?

Thanks, my point is that the inverter will operate @ 10.5v+, per spec. obviously not optimally, but the condition is rare - I’d have to use a hair dryer at max heat setting, when battery soc is low, in such condition I want my setup to be safe. Not running optimally. In almost all other cases...

2000w inverter with long wire, will it work (safely)?

I made my battery from cells as well, about a year ago, when 280ah cells and > 120a BMS aren't available, or as popular as it's today. I did that just so I can fit >200ah next to my fresh water tank. It has worked beautifully so far.

2000w inverter with long wire, will it work (safely)?

Thanks, @eXodus, in real world there are many factors affecting the result, like the quality of wires (pure copper?) I will definitely run a stress test before I put anything that does 150a-200a in my trailer. I'd run a 1500w load for 10 minutes, if it gets uncomfortably warm, I will upsize...

2000w inverter with long wire, will it work (safely)?

OK, so far I have not seen any new concerns besides heat & voltage drop. I am fairly sure 2awg will not generate excessive heat to start a fire, this is based on what 2awg copper wire is rated for, and my 1st hand experience of running 800w continuous on 4awg wire (+2c after 5minutes). On...

2000w inverter with long wire, will it work (safely)?

why would ~5% voltage drop makes inverter generate excessive heat in a vicious loop? This makes no sense. Inverters have their operational voltage range, outside of that, they shutdown. inside of that range, it makes not difference if the 12v was from battery(zero drop) or was from 12.5v...

2000w inverter with long wire, will it work (safely)?

I plan to tackle the under powered inverter (1000w) problem, but due to the constraint of available space (I have a 16-foot trailer, space is very limited), the inverter has to be mounted far from the batteries. about 10 feet of cable run. I have read many posts on similar topics. In most...

Re-balance using BMS with low current?

I disabled BMS 'charge balancing' option, per suggested by @smoothJoey above, now the passive balancing is doing its job although slowly, the delta is cut in half already (0.2-0.1v) I will see how far this would bring cells balanced, if it works reasonably well I'd save the trouble/risk.

Re-balance using BMS with low current?

@smoothJoey BTW, is there any reason not to have charge balance disabled all the time and set threshold voltage slightly below floating? seems like this way 1. Passive balancing won't kick in when you are not hooked up with shore power. 2. Once you are plugged in, balancing will eventually...
