Heltec (JK) 200A Smart BMS with 2A Active Balance

It's on this site in resources, and on the github page in at least two locations: https://github.com/jblance/mpp-solar https://github.com/syssi/esphome-jk-bms/tree/main/components/jk_bms

    JK (JiKong) BMS - 4S

Yep - that's why I ordered a new BMS as well to go with it. I have a thread where I'll post the results once I have them. Any day now...

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

The Aurora there is awesome though.

LiFePO4 heating pad for cold temperatures

Not a lot. Mostly twilight with maybe an hour or two of sun at the horizon, but it's getting better every day. We've had (and still have) a ton of snow though, so most of the times what little sun there would be was hidden behind clouds. We had a very long cold streak with -20C and below for...

    JK (JiKong) BMS - 4S

Quick view of the battery status without having to pop your phone out. Usually I don't have my phone with me, or I have gloves, or my hands are dirty, or forgot the phone again.... I'll probably 3D print a custom enclosure for it and integrate it in my next box design.

    I'll know once I have mine :)

Disagreeing with a Youtuber - DC Breaker Safety Concerns

Yes. Every time I post a link. Also comments that reference other sites get removed. For example, any comments on e.g. Andys' videos I make referencing "DIY Solar Forum", "Alibaba/Aliexpress", "Search on ..." etc. get removed automatically. Andy conformed this.

Jk BMS on inverter current issue from the maker

Credit @GXMnow for writing that text: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/heltec-jk-200a-smart-bms-with-2a-active-balance.17831/page-22#post-420067

    Approximate Battery Life

My opinion: your solar array is too small. 5kW of panels (just found that in your first post) with a 19kWh battery with a 12kWh/day consumption. 19.8kWh production - 12kWh use = 7.8kWh reserve on your best day ever.

JK BMS - rampant bullduggery with current measurement -

It's a bit of both. I can't quickly summarize right now, but check this thread starting at the post linked: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/heltec-jk-200a-smart-bms-with-2a-active-balance.17831/page-22

How big is your solar array?

    Approximate Battery Life

This is off topic, but it depends a lot on the temperature. 4000/6000 cycles and whatever are based on 25C operating temperature. If it's 45C, you can half that. Conversely, keeping them at cold temperatures reduces calendar aging.

3.2V LFP module went up to over 270V

Yeah, the cell might have been perfectly fine, but discharging it past the 2.5V and then have the BMS further discharge that over several months is not good. The chances of that cell coming back up are slim, but let us know how it works out.

    Inverter issue

Manual (or at least from a similar model, just 'plus' version): http://easunpower.cn/uploads/soft/200728/ISoalrSPVSMV2400WUserManual20181212(1).pdf Error code 09 = "Bus soft start failed" This guy had the same issues: The problem is a broken FET on the device. Also discussed here...

Use a fuse - and wear safety glasses... This could have been very bad.

She can handle it, or she wouldn't have left it in the video. Pretty sure she has a good sense of humor as well. Agreed!

3.2V LFP module went up to over 270V

It might be that the BMS (which also needs power) drained the battery further over time. The JBD for example doesn't turn itself off. It's one of the reasons I really like the JK.

    JK BMS issue with charging

Right, that would have been my next suggestion - replace the Riden. Happy you figured it out! Have fun :)

    JK BMS issue with charging

Can you add a load to it and see if it discharges? Light bulb would be fine for testing.

    JK BMS issue with charging

Ok, let's do the IT thing: turn it off and on again. Also, turn on/off both charge/discharge switches, disconnect/reconnect the power supply.

It would indicate that fault on the main screen in red text.

3.2V LFP module went up to over 270V

And the BMS didn't shut the battery down because that cell went low? Edit: these are LiitoKala cells - there have been more than a few complaints about those; search the forum.

3.2V LFP module went up to over 270V

That's 241mV, in other words 0.241V. You discharged them too far, or they were dead to begin with.

Grundfos SQ pumps should be stickied to the top of this catagory.

I've had no issues with a Grundfos SQE doing that with only an 8 Liter pressure tank. The SQE pump is a variable speed pump with soft start designed for constant pressure applications.

    Horsefly's Cabin Solar LiFePO4 Upgrade

I might add some thin plywood frame on the outside, but the foam itself is pretty rigid and strong. It also won't have to be moved once it's in place.

    Horsefly's Cabin Solar LiFePO4 Upgrade

Same here. I already planned that, but this just wants to make me start sooner. The idea is to build a PIR box. The main aim is to make it smaller than my current box, so I can add more batteries with the available space.

Recommendations on Ground Source Heat Pump with soft start?

Here in Finland a typical bore depth for geothermal for a house sits between 150 and 300 meters, and more recently even pushing to go between 400 to 600 meters. The main issue with this of course is cost. Drilling itself costs about 35 euros per meter here (bedrock), so combined with the heat...
