Nice. I found one like that on Tulsa CL about 2 years but I decided it wasn't right for me at the time. I sold my RV and don't need one on the boat, yet.

It took me about 3 weeks to get the situation resolved. It was very frustrating. Call them relentlessly. I think your gonna have to talk to James. Make sure you have your return label in your inbox before you let them off the phone. I think a few of the techs know a great deal about the...

Correct. The folks at SS didn't seem to have any concerns with the connected PV array. They sold it too me. I've never gotten close to 2000 watts from my array. I now have 2 growatts running in parallel. I only have 1000w of PV connected to the 2nd unit so far.

Here is a picture of my GW ID sticker. There may be a little confusion here. I'm happy with my GW now that the main board has been replaced, I even purchased a second unit. I am in the process of installing the second unit.

I'm currently using the default AGM settings. I have the AC charger limited to 2 amps so it doesn't actually charge the batteries overnight. I have the inverter set to come online at 27 volts and returned to commercial power at 24.8 volts. I don't want to discharge my old batteries very...

Yes, the updates were in another thread that was deleted. SS finally agreed to send me return label but after another week I still didn't have it. I called them again, this time I just couldn't stay calm. They promptly emailed me a return label and I returned the unit the same day. They...

    39 year old flooded batteries

There must be another piece of equipment in the field that isn't backed-up. The DSL signal has a limited range so there is probably a piece of equipment in your neighborhood that has also lost power.

Signature Solar and shipping damage, are you a victim too?

Be persistent. It took me two weeks to finally get my return shipping label. It should have been two easy 5 minute conversations. I picked up my panels in person. They were on a pallet that looked to be made exactly for my panels, I was impressed with that.

Try to keep the temps below below 80f if possible. Heat kills lead acid batteries.

    39 year old flooded batteries

If the power stays on and my generator works correctly the batteries will be on discharge less than 2 hours per year. So very shallow depth of discharge. I think temperature controll is a big factor. Have you noticed than many new cars have the battery in the trunk, out of the hot engine...

System can't keep up after upgrades and reconfiguration

I understand that you don't currently have a connection from the charger to second bank, but you need to solve that. There are many good ACRs available. You have two other distinct charge sources that you continue to ignore. Redundancy is key.

I cannot answer your question about PV being over voltage. 5v doesn't seem like much, but I just don't know. On overcast days I find that I would need 10x the panels as my load. 500 watt load would require about 5000 watts of panels.

What is the cable length from the panels to the junction box? What is the cable length form the junction box to the charge controller?

If you have access to a clamp on DC amp meter they can be very useful then checking multiple strings of panels and batteries. Horsefly has a point. You might want to try rewiring your panels to reduce the voltage. Your charge controller might be limiting its output to protect it's self.

Charging options for boat Lithium house bank and AGM engine bank

There are some very knowledgeable folks posting here. I want to offer up another option for charging your start battery. Find room to one more panel, about 20 watts and use a separate MPPT controller on it. You could use one just like you are using for the larger panels, that way if one ever...

Look in to a Blue Seas automatic charging relay. This will allow you to charge with the vehicle alternator, generator or shore power. Notice how many charge sources the following have. 1. My home has 3. 2. MY 5th wheel had 4. 3. My boat has 3. 4. The telephone offices that I maintain have 2.

Run the generator already! Your neighbors will understand or they can "just get over it". People in the boating world complain about generators all the time. 0700 in the morning isn't the right time, 0900 is better. Give them a heads-up. Make them breakfast or something to ease their pain...

I get to water them, they don't need that much. They don't get a lot of use. If the commercial power goes out and the generator/ATS fail for some reason the batteries are in use. They are always connected to a charge source and a load.

I would expect your panels to to support 1800 watts if the sun was strong and high in the sky. Are the panels facing the sun? What brand of panels? Remember shading kills output. Try isolating each group of panels, maybe have a bad panel or connection.

Don't give up yet, they might surprise you. I would be more concerned about the batteries performance then their SG, it's good to have the data though. I'm at little surprised that you still haven't bought or borrowed a charger and ran the generator.

Another test would be to place a resistive load on the inverter after the compressor starts. Something like a space heater or some large incandescent bulbs. Probably have to use 2 space heaters in series to make it work with 240v. If this reduces the issue its probably power factor related...
