How To Measure Input Watts? Meter Recommendation

I quit using it. The hall sensor was too sensitive to the earth's magnetic field. The readings would go crazy with each trailer move.

How to get the AC output from the inverter to the inside of the RV?

What I'm about to say may seem a bit daunting at first but all submarine sailors do this to earn their Dolphins once assigned to their first boat. You need to hand trace your AC distribution wiring & develop your own diagram. I've done it on my three 5th wheels to get a base line before starting...

    RV Roof Mounted Solar Panels

I originally mounted my panels individually. I went with a real rail system when adding more panels. I'd go rack system from the git were I to do it again. Remember you need to reach both the nut & bolt head when mounting. Bolting angle tabs to the panel & fastening the tabs is easier than...

    Anyone else have this problem?

I suspect there may be a time weighted parameter (week or two) that prevents notifications once it expires. I've noticed this behavior in this & other forums I frequent when I go silent for a while.

What should the voltage be for a Brand New 12V 100AH AGM SLA Deep Cycle Battery out of the box.

Anything below 11.5 VDC on a new lead acid battery is cause to return as defective. 12-12.4 should be what you see. I'd bring a DVM with me to verify the replacement. What is the manufacture date code on it?

Lathe motor won’t turn over on solar

You might see an improvement using an Easy Start device. They are pricy but very effective, it can lower surge current by as much as 70%. I'm a very satisfied customer I can start & run a 15K RV AC unit on a EU2200Si Honda in ECO mode, with other minimal loads running.

Lathe motor won’t turn over on solar

I'd suspect a current surge in phase with voltage droop. The inverter needs time to stabilize when hit with a large demand. The grid has gigawatts of available power vs a 5Kw inverter.

    24V Tiny Cabin

I'm not differing with y'all, just suggesting you ask for more data to support their recommendation. I get you are willing to accept their recommendation on face value & I'm fine with that being we've had this discussion.

    24V Tiny Cabin

I'd query them about reducing the final charge % to between 65 & 50% prior to disconnect. LiFePo4 guidance I've read would suggest 100% SOC less than ideal for storage.

    24V Tiny Cabin

Battery & inconvenience of finding a replacement. 40 below is 40 below & unnecessary exposure has risks. Minimizing those risks is the wise approach IMHO.

    24V Tiny Cabin

My thoughts: Disconnected on departure is disconnected. BMS low temp disconnect depends on technology & 0% error rate. Northern MN in winter is no place to need a battery in mid winter to survive. Just sayin'.

    Off grid cabin - Newbie

Dual conversion is where the losses add up. ( DC> inverter>wallwart>router) Also DC lighting can be hooked in series to operate on 24VDC.

    Off grid cabin - Newbie

You will need to do an energy audit for each of the items you listed. A preliminary audit would be to use the label specs & guesstimate usage. A better more accurate audit is to monitor actual daily consumption for your normal usage & add a safety factor.

    Off grid cabin - Newbie

24 volt battery system would help minimize wire costs & improve inverter efficiency if you want to use one. The more items you can keep on DC the more efficient your build will be.

    Good enough for RV boondocking?

It would seem you store your 5th wheel off season. Is it powered in storage? To correctly size your array I'd recommend you monitor the residential fridge, illumination, & entertainment loads over several days of actual usage. Then add a reliability percentage (your choice). Off grid battery connections

The idea is to view each wire as a resistor. Then seek to achieve a balance of resistance for each cell. While the concept is simple, achieving balance requires some thought & planning.

    Off grid battery connections

When current is aimed @ the battery & there is also a load demand, a portion of the current will be diverted to the load to satisfy its need. The balance will still go to the battery.

Looking for a DC Ammeter that can connect serial/usb/bluetooth to a computer

_ Just be aware hall sensors are great for solidly mounted, fixed locations. If the sensor can move or is in a module environment, the earth's magnetic field will induce errors. This is why you zero a DC clamp meter prior to taking a DC current reading.

    Off grid battery connections

From your verbal disruption I'd say connect to the center posts of each bus. My reasoning is to match resistance. Connecting direct to the end battery means minimal resistance for battery one & two bus wires of resistance for all the others. (Out one, in two, three, or four.) I'd also connect...
