    46165 Sodium Cells

This doesn't make any sense. 480 grams for ONE 46165 cell. To make a 300 AH 12V battery, 16S4P, that one battery would weigh 30.7 KG just in cells. That's 122.9 KG for a 48V setup...

Old battery, cheap charge controller and broke PV panel.

The battery is from 2018, new then, but has been 100% submerged in rainwater for two years, outside. The charge controller is the absolute cheapest Amazon PWM available, I think I paid $8.50 for it. The panel is a 72-cell panel, but half are disabled. I suspect a broken solder somewhere. It was...

    Voltage Switch

Is there a switch that is adjustable to come on at X voltage and off at Y voltage? I want the switch to turn on at 53.7V and then off at 53.1V. I guess this is sort of like a dump-load switch.

(at least) 4 MUST HAVE tools for BIG Wire

Hydraulic Crimper Cable Bender Ratchet Cable Cutters Cable Stripper These are 4AWG to 4/0 AWG. If you are doing 250 MCM, you probably already have professional tools. I prefer the 16T crimper instead of the 10T crimper because the 16T holds the dies in from both sides. I just did a project with...

Solar Farm for EV DC Charging

How many acres does it take to have a usable public DCFC charging station? ~ 2000 panels per Acre. ~ ~ 300 W panels, = roughly 610 kW, which can make roughly 3 mWh per day. assuming 5 hours of good solar. 1 Tesla Megapack is $2.6 million and has 3.9 mWh and can push 1927 kW, or charge 5 to 10...

    SOL-ARK 15K 3rd MPPT

3 MPPT debate. I have 4 strings of PV. 2 are 5S (on the same MPPT, same panels) 10 panels ~200V 2 are 4S (on the same MPPT, same panels) 12 panels ~150V The 4S has one string 4S1P and the other 4S2P. I could put the 4S strings in 6S, but for now, just keeping them at 4S until spring. Will it...

    LiFePO4 cliff leg

Seeing the leg/cliff starts at 50.7V. Two hours later 49.6V. One hour later 47.6V. Ten minutes later 46.0V This is roughly a 60 kWh battery with about 800 watts of continuous draw. I have the inverter shut down if/when the battery reaches 46V. I used to have it set to shut down at "10%", with...

    Simple System Bypass

What is wrong with this? The box on the top left is the service disconnect. Arrows represent service wires going to the next thing. The box on the bottom left is the load panel. Knife switches are not circuit breakers. If this is done while the system is energized, it will ark, if under a...

    Afore Energy

They have a whole slew of various inverters for pretty much all over the world. Does anybody have any experience with them? https://www.aforenergy.com/ I saw the battery support and that's really what I'm looking at. 48V battery setup is ok for most setups, but I'm looking for 200V. I want...

    Conduit installed

Now my 8 wires are no longer getting tangled with the Bermuda grass. :) I only zapped myself once during the installation. This has to be a record for DIYers! 240V DC hurts a little.??‍♂️? A day later and it still feels like I smashed my finger with a hammer. Pro-tip, (ya know because I'm an...

Keep a few spares. LV6548 6P! or bP

Yesterday morning I had an unusual surge, it tripped the system. I reset and saw no errors and went about my normal activities. Today, at the same time I had the same unusual surge, it tripped the system. I reset it but didn't notice something that disabled my entire setup. bP, no battery...

Solstice. This is the highest the sun will be in the northern hemisphere or the lowest for the southern hemisphere. 320ah Cells Ordered.

Seems too good to be true. Paid with Paypal, so there is Paypal's protection. And aliexpress 75 day gurantee. I've bought plenty on Aliexpress and only ever had one complaint with a useless capacity tester. 16 cells for $ 888 plus $12 (I guess PayPal fee) delivered to my house...

    MPPT Challenge

OK, I know if you overvolt an MPPT, the MPPT will turn off in fail-safe. What happens if you way over amp it? The idea of an MPPT pulling the load on the panels is the test. Put like 4 times the IMP on the MPPT in panels. If the MPPT is rated for 18 amps on the PV, try 20, then 30, or even 40...

Do this first before getting a wind turbine.

Get a weather station. It's not the peak wind, it's the AVERAGE wind that you have to know before a turbine is a good option for your location. I'm in Kansas, we have about the most abundant amount of wind on the planet. However, when measured at my particular location, my wind average is...

    11KW EVSE

I just got an Emporia EVSE, 11 kW output. Connected to two MPP-Solar LV6548's and a big battery. At 11 kW, each battery was getting about ~60 amps. 251 amp peaked total discharge. Set to charge one hour after SunRise. https://www.emporiaenergy.com/emporia-ev-charger

Clean Panels, Cool Weather, Not even Clear Skies, incredible performance.

Right now my 12 panels, 3.5 kWp off-grid setup is producing 3.3 to 3.6 kW, it actually peaked at 3.81 kW. What's more interesting, it is a very thin cloud cover, not clear blue skies. Temp is 71°F

    Happy Earth Day.

Happy Earth Day, 2021. Yesterday I did some tree pruning with my "yellow" pole saw and regular saw. I used one 20v 5ah battery for all the cuts. I used the garden dump attached to the Z6 and made about 8 hauls from the front to the back, and then mowed. I finished and the meter indicated an...

    Used panels work great.

I just saw a pretty good output today from my DIY array. It was intermittent clouds and the peak might be weather-induced. 12 used panels. 2 LV6548's doing the inverting/charging. 295x12=3540 - I paid $1000(delivered), last year (January 2020) for these used panels Today I got 97% out of the...
