Discharging a capacitor before connecting battery

Will it helps to have your head on straight when measuring things. Yesterday I mentioned that my battery was only discharging at 1 amp and was hard to believe since my load was close to 1000 watts. Sunshine_eggo pointed out that was imposable. Then I realized that I was using an AC meter to...

Discharging a capacitor before connecting battery

Thanks for pointing that out. I too couldn't believe my current meter reading. The current reading for the ac out was done with a clamp ac current meter. But stupid me used the same meter for the DC input reading. I have a clamp dc current meter and will check the DC current again. It's...

Discharging a capacitor before connecting battery

I connected my battery to the TP6048 controller. Even though I may not have had too, I went ahead ran the battery current through a 50-ohm resister with very no noticeable spark. When a head and connected the battery to the controller and powered it on. Here is a post I put on my Facebook page...

Discharging a capacitor before connecting battery

you are right Shaver. after my post I realized my error in the post. However, my question is still the same. with this tp6048 controller is it still needed to use a 50 ohm resistor to slow the inrush of current when I connect the battery. I had to do this with my old mmp 2024. If someone lives...

Discharging a capacitor before connecting battery

I have the TP6048 controller from SunGoldPower and am getting ready to connect the battery. Do I have to discharge some capacitor inside the controller with a 50-ohm resister before connecting the battery was with so many other controllers?

Using EG4 life power 4 lithium battery with Sungoldpower 6000w-48v TP6048

Thanks, although I don't like to spend more money than I need too, If I need two or more batteries, so be it. - I just hate putting out $3000 on two batteries.

Using EG4 life power 4 lithium battery with Sungoldpower 6000w-48v TP6048

wow! I didn't know that. I hope I didn't waste my money getting that inverter. Buy the way, I noticed you live in Los Gatos, I'm in Livermore.

Using EG4 life power 4 lithium battery with Sungoldpower 6000w-48v TP6048

Got a fast question: I notice that no one chats about the Sungoldpower 6000w-48v TP6048 all-in-one controller/inverter. I bought one about 4 months back, but just now getting to set it up. Although it doesn't require batteries, I want to set it up as off grid as I cannot have grid tie in my...

MPP 2424 low Float /Bulk voltages

the main issue is that (and it just could be my Ampere Time 24V 100Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate battery didn't last long) is that when the battery kicked in it would drop to 24.5 vdc then within minutes drop to 24.0 volts. At 24Vdc my 2424 would have a discharge current of l22 amp. At 22 amps, the...

    TP6048

Yes, I bought from Sungodpower. I couldn't find any review videos from Will or much discussion in our group on this controller. It will be a while before I get to connect it to my electrical braker subpanel to my house as my daughter is dying of cancer and I'm down in Southern California some...

Changes are coming to the Solar Industry

I wonder if the day of building your own solar system is coming to an end too. And if you want solar, you will have to put at $30k or more from a Solar company.

    TP6048

It the moment, just cheap 12-volt batters connected in series. I that that would be better than no battery. the reason for the 12 vdc cheap batteries is that I cannot afford $1300 plus for a signal 48vdc battery. I live in Livermore, not to fair from you, less than an hour due to traffic. I'm...

    TP6048

No one seems to talk about the TP6048 in this group. This TP6048 is an 6000W 48V Hybrid Solar Inverter Grid Tie Inverter for Solar Panel Split Phase 120/240VAC (Grid Feedback & Batteryless) - from SunGoldPower Anyway, I ordered it this past Monday and on Saturday it was at my doorsteps. It was...

    MPP LV2424 or not?

I've been using the LV2424 now for almost 2 years with 6 solar panels and one 24v, 100 ah lithium battery. I have a double pole double throw switch that lets me connect the ac input to the LV2424 from either my utility company or direct from my gas generator. (Where I live, we lose utility power...

Current solar tax credits, eligible purchases and upgrades

I don't know, but I think you can only get the tax credit if you purchased a system from a professional company that installs them. for Thousands of dollars of course! I too would like to know if us DYI guys/gals could get the tax credit if we installed our system ourselves.

    Panels shutting down

I have the same issues about 3:00 pm every day. The house load is constant at around 300 watts from morning to evening. Then about 3:20 pm or so, the solar panels come back on to supply power to the load and Utility goes off line. Note the solar panels are still putting out 68 volts, but...

Stacking inverters in parallel vs one inverter with transformer for split phase??

Here's a video By Dave Poz, I good guy to follow. This video on Auto transformers might be helpful to you. Note that he has been using this auto transformer for over a year with no issues.

    Solar design-series or parallel

Great. As for me, I only have one PV input port on my little 3434lv controller/inverter. So, it is important for me not to have a mismatch in solar panels. However, in reality, in my case, there is a big tree in the neighbor yard that in the late afternoon starts to shade my 6 panels one at a...

    Solar design-series or parallel

Do your best to have all strings close to the same open circuit voltage. The parallel panel(s) output voltages will try and drop to the lowest voltage of any string in your parallel system. - just like batteries do. Example. three strings connected in parallel, one at 40vdc, the second at 39vdc...

Why do I need more than one controller?

Ok thanks. I notice several like the Growatt come with 120/220 vac so no auto transfer required. Or get on controller with 220vac and use an autotransformer. Although they my definitions are not transferrers as they do not have a primary winding and a secondary winding. The videos I have watched...

Why do I need more than one controller?

A curiosity question! Over the last 30 months that I have been in this group and watching tons of youtube videos by Will P and others, I note they are all using 2 or more inverters/converters in parallel. The question I have, if one controller can handle you house load, why would I need more...

One of strings showing voltage but not pulling full amperage when connected to combiner

If you have negative voltage on one of your strings, I agree with Michaelk in that the one string probably has the wiring in the MC4 connector reversed. That is easy to do. I screwed up once and reversed the wires in one of my MC4 connector.

Do LiFePO4 batteries ever need to be fully charged?

The problem I'm having with my 24v 100ah Amper Time battery is that it drops from full charge as set in my 2424lv controller to 24.5 volts within a couple of minutes with only a load of 9 amps. The battery is only 1 year old. I have on a couple of occasions, disconnected my battery from the...

Help with my settings on MPP Solar LV2424 please

True, but I can't go by SOC as once my battery voltage reached 24.5 volts the controller will shut off because of my load demand and a tall tree in the neighbor yard that blocks the sun about 30 minutes before no sun light. It sucks I know, but I have to live with it. I need a larger capacity...

Help with my settings on MPP Solar LV2424 please

For me I have my back to utility source presently set at the same voltage at the float voltage recommend for my battery of 27.5v. I've played with setting at full charge and a little below float voltage. I can't see any difference. With respect to back to battery mode, I have it set to 24.5v...

Will building inspector say no to Solar Panels on flat, metal roof (flimsy) that's attached to eve over patio?

I can only speak for myself. I live in a Manufactured home in a trailer park. I do have an aluminum covered car port. Today the state of California motorhome park inspection was inspecting all the home today, some 250 manufactured homes and trailers in my park. However last week, not knowing...

    LV2424 out to launch

Thanks so much for the software error. Since I have no permits to...

LV2424 MPPT Controller not working like it used too for over a year. I think my lv2424 controller is not working like it used too. Two months back, the Utility was suppling power to the house when in theory, it should have been both the solar and battery only. I noticed today during some...

    2424 mpp hybrid inverter

I have 6 39v, 9a solar panels. I have two in a series string and the three strings are in parallel. That gives me 80 volts and 27 amps available. But do to some limitations of my 2424 of battery discharge of no more that 22 amps, and available current from my utility set to 50 amps, and that...

    Epever battery settings. Bluetooth app?

The charge amp will drop down to 1 or two amps. then will go into a float. I personally don't have wi-fi and the only battery readings I get is from the LED screen on my 2424lv which is basically, the battery voltage, current and wattage.
