Wiring a 6 into 1 combiner box wire size.

So an 80 amp? I'm at 60 amps with no issues...

Wiring a 6 into 1 combiner box wire size.

So you'd have a charge controller and the AIO hooked to the same battery? Do you have to do anything , or put anything in between the connections? (Sorry, I'm a rookie...)

Wiring a 6 into 1 combiner box wire size.

So any advice on linking the 4awg into the 6awg ports on the 3048? I also have a 100 amp dc circuit breaker left over from another project. Any issue using that in between the combiner box, and the mpp unit?

Wiring a 6 into 1 combiner box wire size.

Yeah I only have between 60 and 115v to play with as far as the working voltage goes. So that's why I'm at 2s6p to try to make it stay within requirements.

Wiring a 6 into 1 combiner box wire size.

Ummm ok... So if I go with 4awg, can I pull a few threads off the connection to get it to fit the 6awg input on the 3080? Is there a better way to do that? Also the manual suggested a dc input fuse/breaker of 120a. Which is almost double what should be coming through the wire. Does that...

Wiring a 6 into 1 combiner box wire size.

Oh I thought you were asking me.
  7. W

Wiring a 6 into 1 combiner box wire size.

Because I think it exceeds or is too close to exceeding the working voltage of the 3080.

Wiring a 6 into 1 combiner box wire size.

Yeah, no permit or inspection, but I do want to do it correctly. 8 awg, definitely isn't large enough for the panels I have

Wiring a 6 into 1 combiner box wire size.

I was going by this chart, for the THWN-2 (the 90° C heading) . That's why I thought I could get away with the 6awg. Maybe the 4? The 2 seems like overkill going by this. Chart

Wiring a 6 into 1 combiner box wire size.

here's the specs on the panel. Trying to do s2p6 into the combiner box. So 12 panels total. The run from the combiner box to the PIP 3048LV-MK is 30 ft. Can I get away with 6awg wire? And what's the most cost effective wire I can go with when running through underground conduit? Also...

Wiring a Homeline load center. Green ground screw question.

Ok. I actually have a grounding rod that I haven't installed. I can get on it though. I just added that plug to my cart. Thanks. Thanks for the input everyone. It's working fine. But I want to make sure I'm doing it ok so no problems arise.

Wiring a Homeline load center. Green ground screw question.

Ok thanks. I haven't tried it either yet. Only charged the battery a few times. I'm thinking the ground lug from the generator would be the way to go.

Wiring a Homeline load center. Green ground screw question.

Ok this was my first instinct with this, but I wasn't sure. Do you ever hook up to a generator and use it as passthrough?
  14. W

Wiring a Homeline load center. Green ground screw question.

If I did that. Should I use the green ground screw to bond the neutral bus to the Homeline case then?
  15. W

Wiring a Homeline load center. Green ground screw question.

Yeah I probably shouldn't have included the entire setup in this and just put the inside of the breaker box. The only thing going from the mpp unit to the box is the piece of yellow romex. To answer your questions. 1. Yes. I had 4 gauge welding wire available for free. So they're weird...

Wiring a Homeline load center. Green ground screw question.

Ok I'm running an MPPSOLAR pip-1012-LV. 1000w inverter system in an off-grid setup from a DIY 280ah LifePo4 battery bank and 600w of panels. Until today I was just using a cut extension cord hooked directly into the output of the MPPSOLAR for 120v. I hooked up a load center with 3 breakers (a...

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

Ok I disconnected/reconnected the bms. No clue about the charging cutoff because it's raining here now. But there's a blue led illuminated on the bms now, that wasn't lit up before I unplugged it. Anyone know what this is, and why it's lit now? Nothing seems different at far as function...

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

Possibly. Other settings seem to take effect right away though so I never really considered it. Although I know I have left some of the lower numbers for multiple days, and I don't run the inverter overnight usually because I have everything running on 12v... So it essentially shuts off and...

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

I have changed these settings a bunch of times to various values between 13.3 and 14.1 (float), and it hasn't made any sort of difference. So I can see why they look insane at this point.haha. I think I may have gotten a lemon as far as mppsolar units go. I'm going to do some experimenting...

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

Ok. Here is the manual you can download to see what screen is what setting... I will type what I have in each. Unfortunately some of the numbers don't jive with the options that the book states... Like setting 16. And setting 10 isn't mentioned in the manual but I have it on my unit. Any...

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

The mppsolar unit doesn't stop charging it until a few cycles of that. And then it realises the battery is charged. Im not sure what else I can do with it. I've played with the settings, and it hasn't made any difference. Any suggestions on how to get it.to realize full charge?

I want to make my own BMS

I'm lost... What do you mean I have it as a main? I have a few different breakers. And shutoffs to be able to disconnect the battery as well as the panels from the mppsolar and the 12v fuse box. What would you suggest otherwise?
  23. W

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

I'm 100% off grid here. So I don't want to do it in the dark. I meant get all the load off of it.
  24. W

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

Ok I will have to wait until during the day tomorrow to be able to get everything off of it to try a reset. It's all stuffed in a battery box, so I'll take a crack at it during the morning when it's light out.
  25. W

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

Yes. Everything seems fine except for it just not stopping the charge.
  26. W

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

Should I disconnect the battery first? Can I turn the bms off and power will still flow through it? Got a picture of where on the bms it's located?

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

How do you switch this unit on or off?
  28. W

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

Yes it logs the events every time. Just doesn't do anything about it.
  29. W

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

No they're not going wonky at 13.5. I'm saying I lowered the pack shutoff in settings to 13.5 as a test and it never stopped the charge. The cells are only unbalanced right at the end. Between 3.45 and 3.6 is the gap between cells. I always had the bms to limit charge to 3.6 ... And it...

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

I tried it. It did nothing. Is there some sort of reset on these units that I could try before having to buy something else?
  31. W

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

It always cut off at 3.6 though. Always. I watched it because of the out of balance situation I've had since I installed it (even though I thought I had it top balanced well before I moved offgrid) So you're saying set the whole pack cutoff to something like 13.5 and see if it stops charging?

    Pip1012lv-mk stays in "float" mode

This is the unit I have. So yes. I will say it hasn't been happening lately
  33. W

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

As a little test I set the pack voltage to 13.8 to see if that would get it to stop charging, and it did nothing either. It did register the pack over voltage. But that's it. It did nothing to limit the charge.

    JBD bms cell overcharge issue.

Ok so one of my cells in a diy 280ah LifePo4 will hit 3.6v while another is at 3.55 and 2 others are in the upper 3.4s. I realize I need to top balance these cells again, but am living off grid and this is my only power source, so that's not an option at the moment. I am hooked into an...

    Pip1012lv-mk stays in "float" mode

Just an update. The last few days it has been running the way I would think it should run. So I haven't messed with it. I have to unhook the whole thing Wednesday morning for sprayfoamers to come in and add insulation. So I'll keep an eye on it after then.
