It is easy and inexpensive to make home wiring into extension cords! Is this code compliant?

I guess you don't care about burning your house down or getting electrocuted either. This thread made me think about how safe something I do really is. Every winter I hook up a timer to an extension cord to a radiant heater in my van so when I go outside my van's windows are clean and ice free...

Why are many kits Series Parallel and not Series?

I'm curious about the screenshot of series and parallel. At first, I was going to mount my four panels in series. four 158 watt panels= 632 watts at 5 amps. If I put them together like the screenshot would I have 632 watts at 10 amps? I have those connectors and figure this would be better.

    Unsuccessful wind turbine story

Three-wire setup from the turbine(three-wire turbine) to the charge controller location. A rectifier converts to 48 or 24 volts to the batteries. This helps eliminate the voltage drop problems. If u have wind.

    Outback FM 60 aux. output

Hi, I see how to adjust the aux output. I'm slightly confused as to where the aux output is? Is Outback thinking I will use an SSR? I've never hooker up an SSR relay either. This is planing for the future, my controller is not hooked up yet.

It is easy and inexpensive to make home wiring into extension cords! Is this code compliant?

I was reading this and thinking about my old extension cord with a timer going through a wall and to a 1000 watt electric heater I have in my van to keep windows snow and ice-free during the winter. I noticed the cord is finally falling apart after so many years.

Cheap 4kwh LiFePO4 batteries from Battery Hookup

I have two wired for 48v and they were only down a little bit and I used a 3a e-bike charger. I used a multimeter and charged mine up to 52v. After a few months, they are still sitting there at 52v. I did hook up the stock 24v fans to a 24v converter with a programable thermostat so those fans...

    dealing with voltage

I've already got one. I spent a few more bucks and bought a good one. I will be happy with a little extra power at night. If anything my issue is producing too much power. I have a diversion load set up to heat water with excess power. This helps keep a load on the wind gen. also. I hope to...

    dealing with voltage

I put together the parts for my hybrid solar/wind system a while back. Now I have been going over things. My wind power is a 48v three-wire system, but the manufacturer says to be prepared to handle a possible 225v. I admit this is probably in a hurricane. But I planned on hooking the wind gen...

    Understanding VOC

My newbie thinking was that any excess power would go through my wind diversion controller and help power my water heater elements. This is a 48v system. Maybe three panels for VOC 128.25? 95.01V I do have a separate 24v system for a greenhouse, I could use one panel there.

    Understanding VOC

I was reviewing my system, that I haven't hooked up yet. My four 158 watt panels. each put out VOC 42.75=171v. my FM60 manual says to stay below 150. VOC is unloaded? So if my batteries are hooked up? Wouldnt that make for a load? I also have a diversion load controller hooked up to the...

    BattGO Wiring

I decided to put off making the battgo work for now. it's stored for now and soon will power up my small home. The pins are correct. Thanks for the reply.

    wire size?

I use 48volts so that circuit wizard doesn' work for me.

    wire size?

I have a Reliable 2500 watt inverter that came with the two thin positive wires and two negative wires. There are no markings on them and I'm wondering if Making #6 wire cables would be better than what came with the inverter? Have some #6 and the right ends.

    BattGO Wiring

I did write that I had to disconnect a wire so I could hook up to 24v. The second sentence. I'm trying to check cell balance and balance them on occasion.

    BattGO Wiring

The batteries are 24 volts each when disconnected as I stated.

    BattGO Wiring

I have two BYD Batteries wired as 48volts. When I use the BattGO I have to disconnect the one cable so I have two 24v batteries to hook my two harnesses to. The adapter shows the voltage going up by threes until 26v. I got two nice cables with the adapters but they have small ends where one fits...

    BattGO Wiring

I was tracing the wires from my homemade wiring harness to the adapter. I guess I do have a wiring issue. When I plug the Battgo in, I have been clipping the ground wire to the negative. if I leave the ground off, the number eight wire shows nothing, when I plug it in that is the one that reads...

    BattGO Wiring

Unless the batteries themselves are wired wrong. I am using the leads provided. The voltmeter goes from 3.3. to 26 in a series of threes. The fact that the BattGO shows 29 volts versus 26 on my voltmeter is odd.

    BattGO Wiring

After waiting three weeks I finally got my new soldering iron and made two new harness connectors and it's still the same. It sure doesn't match my voltmeter when I check the pins. Each picture is one of my BYD BATTERIES AT 24v. 3volts difference?

    wire issues

I thought I read about using nonstranded wire for ac. The way I understand it stranded wire is for dc stuff. I was looking at the wires I took from a dead washing machine and all the wires are stranded and marked for 600v. I keep trying to learn more and I am curious if what I read on this is wrong.

    BattGO Wiring

I am waiting for my new soldering iron. mIne died. I have some more connectors and with the correct ends so it will be a while since Amazon has slowed down. There may be a chance I wired the harness wrong. I'll fess up to what happened in the future.

    BattGO Wiring

I have read the pins from the connector end that goes into the BattGO. I guess I should check the other pins considering the money I have spent. I will update.

    BattGO Wiring

Here are the numbers from my voltmeter. then the two batteries hooked up separately to the BattGO. As I said before when I go off the pins everything is at 3.3 or close to it. Not anywhere close to this. I think the difference between the BattGO and the voltmeter is an issue with the BattGO...

    BattGO Wiring

As I explained the BattGO works but the numbers don't make much sense. its junk. I trust the voltmeter. maybe I will hook it up again and take a photo to show you and others here. I think the wires are hooked up fine.

    BattGO Wiring

I'm not sure I am going to use a BMS after reading more about them.

    BattGO Wiring

The BattGO is crap. I have the two 24 BYD batteries disconnected and checked each 8s battery than connected them both back together. The numbers off the pins match on both batteries. I trust the voltmeters numbers. I used the stock leads and used an adapter to hook up the BattGO.

    BattGO Wiring

The pins all go up about 3.3 with a voltmeter. 3.3, 6.6., 9.8 13.1, 16.4, 19.8,23.1 26.4 My two batteries are together for 48v The voltmeter shows 52.8= 3.3. Plugin the BattGO and the numbers are all different and the number eight is over 4.0. The BattGO is way higher. 59 something.

    BattGO Wiring

Since the directions were kind of vague it took a little for it to dawn on me that the extra wire was negative. The numbers on the BattGO were all over the place so I took your advice and looked at what volts the pins were at. They were about perfect. So the BattGO is not accurate. A waste of...

    BattGO Wiring

I think I have it figured out after watching a Davidpoz video. I ran the negative wire(the extra wire) to the battery post. the unit showed all eight. It was kinda strange, the numbers were all different, two were low, 2.7 and the numbers showed 4 something for the voltage for one cell. The...

    BattGO Wiring

So I am trying to wire up my BattGO to my BYD battery through an adapter from logic tech. The BattGO harness has nine wires and the 8s wiring harness has of course 8 wires. Has anyone figured this out? offer me advice pls. The harness that came with the adapter has a different end that doesn't...

    BYD Battery stacking

I wish I could have seen how they were originally mounted. I also noticed that if you look up BYD Batteries on YouTube there seems like more BYD videos than a while back. Yes, The strength of the unit is a concern when putting the one atop the other. I was trying to judge if being stacked on was...

Just one on top of the other. I don't see any reason to take the unit apart for any maintenance.
