Well, I'll keep looking and reading reviews. Lux Power 6kw grid or hybrid seems interesting so far

Is it me or all these off grid Asian inverters built by one company and rebranded?

Lots of folks are pro lithium...which is different strokes for diff folks... Although lithium is listed in the SI manual, it takes the Rec-Bms system to function properly or Raspbery work around (which is way over my skill set)

Is it me or all these off grid Asian inverters built by one company and rebranded?

Nope..... on the backfeed.... as you know because you have Sunny Islands there are 4 settings....PV only, Gen (which still has PV), Grid and Gen/grid. My existing system is Gen My post shows I am sold on SMA but Amazon, Facebook forums, Solar forums have lots of reviews when you view comments...

Is it me or all these off grid Asian inverters built by one company and rebranded?

Lurking the last 2 months viewing and researching off grid inverter for possible purchase with PV priority, utility grid if needed, split phase USA 120-240 with or without batteries 3500 - 6000. It seems like when I find one that might be a candidate, I read reviews and my balloon gets...

Anyone with SMA Sunny Islands 6048 set their battery system to 42 volts?

It's been a few days since I did it. But I distinctly remember going up to 50 and arrowing down to 42 (which is what I need) and back up to 48 default. Thought i found a donor battery in Lake Tahoe for $150. 36 volts 18 cells but the donor cells 30 inches tall are not correct. The label was...

Anyone with SMA Sunny Islands 6048 set their battery system to 42 volts?

Page 71 of manual towards bottom.. For FLA and VRLA: Nominal voltage of the battery 42 V to 52 V adjustable in 2 V steps; default setting: 48 V. (I tried that the other day for a moment and it worked. Went to 42 and back up) We have sun coming after rain this week (Friday) So, Saturday and...

Anyone with SMA Sunny Islands 6048 set their battery system to 42 volts?

I have the SMA SI 6048 manual. 240 pages. Mine says 42-50. On my master when initial "new battery" comes up only shows 42-50. I can try 42 after reboot that should work but interconnects on cells must be removed. ( cut connect & isolate bad cell)

Anyone with SMA Sunny Islands 6048 set their battery system to 42 volts?

My 2 Forklift 48v GNB Tubular LMX 24-85-13 have 3 bad cells each. Thinking of leapfrogging past the bad ones with 2 gauge copper connector and cutting the lead connectors. Under "new battery" start and in the manual they will accept 42-50 volts. Anyone try this or have thoughts?

Parallel strings and overpaneling or how to maximize PV production on a single inverter.

FYI: We have close to same system but my SB5 us 41 is AC coupled with 2 6048 SI's. We have 20 - 320w Jinko premiums 6800 configured 8-6-6 into the 3 Mppt's. So string 1 (8) is 371v, string 2 & 3 (6) is 278v each....SnapNrack all facing south. We also have the 10-240's 2400w rack of Talesuns...

What to do with left over 2400W talesun DC Solar rack?

What I saw on SMA spec breakdown is 5kw and 6kw take same awg and 30amp breaker. Once you go above (7KW) heavier wiring and bigger breaker. My building is off grid and that's why those MPP Solar 1012 & 2424 caught my eye. 120v is fine...maybe later do split phase 240v but I doubt it...

What to do with left over 2400W talesun DC Solar rack?

I own 3 SMA products (2 SI's 6048 & 5kw US Sunny Boy) - very happy with them....I have time...I am going to watch SMA on Ebay, Google etc. In perfect world...I should have purchased a 6kw Sunny Boy for my ground mount...same wiring requirements and move the 5kw to the building. But I looked for...

What to do with left over 2400W talesun DC Solar rack?

I just looked at the array on the rack, it's off the trailer on cement pad, since I pirated the other parts (cabinet, batteries) . Yes, 5s2p as they were originally on the DC Trailer. I used the cabinet with everything inside 2 SI's, MS 250 with combiner, breaker boxes and did a 6400 ground...

What to do with left over 2400W talesun DC Solar rack?

I have been reviewing the MPP Solar LV1012 & LV2424. I like the fact off-grid and CT"s not required/needed, almost Plug and Play. But it appears the 2400W is too large of an array. It's 2 rows of 5 panels. 1200 watts per row . If I remember right, it's five parallel two series. I could use one...

Sunny Island Sunny Boy AC Coupling Grid Tie System

Sunny Island Sunny Boy AC Coupling Grid Tie System

I have a 5kw Sunny Boy latest version with a 6.4kw ground mount....From array 50 ft I simply ran #8awg red, black and white to a TL270RCUP GE load center with 50 amp DP breaker. From the breaker I ran again #8 red, black and white to my 2 sunny Islands to get 240v. The red goes to the SI slave...

SMA Sunny Boy code 10120 "currently permitted number of parameterizations exceeded" HOW TO RESET? UNABLE TO CHANGE VALUES

My last thought...maybe it is a safeguard to prevent overuse of raising and lower parameters that may damage internals? I have SMA Sunny Islands and SMA Sunny Boy and I still like them over the others. When you scan the forums you will see other brands have huge issues as well. Later

SMA Sunny Boy code 10120 "currently permitted number of parameterizations exceeded" HOW TO RESET? UNABLE TO CHANGE VALUES

I did not. I waited a few weeks and then went in and changed the parameter to max limit (5kw). It took, so I left it alone after that . I think the system memorizes the amount of changes and it is an internal limit. So after time passes you can change again. I could not find a way to defeat it...

Pobby is the moderator and he, Keith B and Kevin P among others are like encyclopedias but talk and relate in common terms. Trying too hard

Just did the calcs....8.3 amps on string A & B and 7.9 on C. Max volts on the two bigger strings was 517 each and 479 on the South East string. Do you have different angle strings wired into a single MPPT? You were pretty clear about not doing that. You probably have each angle with its own...

Max allowable PV Total........Total PV array is 9600 on 6.0. On my 5.0 it is 8000. So with 30 panels (20 x320 and 10x240)I would be at 8800, even though String C would be facing South east. I read your posts since last fall...You have multiple angles don't you? Are saying if I go over 5000 watts...

My cabinet is sheltered already and I leave the doors open, also have cabinet thermostat set. Back when the DC auctions were hot and heavy, I would NOT bid on a trailer where the SI's were outside. They are not engineered for that. That being said, down the road I may revamp my ground mount to...

No, all new Jinko's with 5 left over. I just didn't like the 10-5-5 that was on the SMA design sheet...I am considering 8-10-7 or 8-11-6 based on computations...If 5 are pointed SE, what is the diff from the other panels on the array catching shade? Shaded panels lose production

If Midnight puts its current through the shunt, then SI can account for it. Not previously commissioned, you say? Maybe they did on the generator equipped units. ( Nope, just 2 wires from shunt to Master, nothing but temp sensor (phone type wire directly into MS CC and 6awg PV in and 6awg out to...

    Trying too hard

Mike...If you end up with a SMA system. That is 2 Sunny Islands and a Sunny Boy inverter you WILL need to configure the Sunny Boy inverter upon initial commissioning to "ISLAND 60hz" before 10 hours of use. Otherwise it will lock you out and then you will need a grid guard code...
