    LifePO4 Battery - Infrequent Use.

Depends on what you mean by a big deal. I speak from experience, storing for long periods of time at 100% will significantly reduce capacity compared to storing at 50%.

    Looking to power HVAC

Yes, I also have a 3-ton unit with SEER 17 installed at about that time. It can keep up with the heat, but the humidity can be a problem during the monsoon season. I've installed a 12,000 BTU minisplit that I let run on low, which really helps with that. The old unit was 10 EER and 2.5-ton unit...

    Alrska Solar Panels

I purchased one of their 200 watt panels (12v). Compared it to some 100 watt Rich poly panels (about the same price, i.e. 2 of the 100 watt panels is about the same as a single 200 watt Alrska). Side by side, each of the Rich panels put out about 75 watts, the Alrska put out 140 watts. The...

    Sunfunkits show their true color

My take (and it's worth what you paid for it, nothing): EVE changed formulation (or something) and claims 6,000 cycles on their 280AH cells, that previously had been rated for 3,000 cycles. Lots of people bought their newer 280K cells and reported not meeting amp hour capacity tests, even the...

    4s BMS's that support series?

I can confirm these work fine in series: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256802152358272.html I can confirm (through talking to their Alibaba support, if you order less than 5) that this is their actual storefront on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/1101682188 This DOES NOT...

    JBD 4S 200A BMS

Overkill Solar BMS app example. Only two toggles, Bal. only when charging, toggle off when trying to top balance. Start Voltage - 3400 millivolts is what you change, first to 3.45 (3450) then to 3.6 (3600). Different apps have different locations and probably nomenclature. When finished, just...

The perfect Aliexpress Lifepo4 order... Well, almost.

I've used the method I mentioned for a couple of years and had zero problems. Certainly zero stripped threads. You mileage may vary. The M4 holes are factory drilled, and won't be crooked like some have reported with the "we hired someone for a dollar to tap them for you" vendor drilled holes...

    4s BMS's that support series?

I can confirm this one is the correct store front if you want a JBD BMS. https://dgjbd.en.alibaba.com/ I've ordered from them multiple times, and they will customize if you place a large enough order. Very prompt shipping as well. I can confirm this works well up to (and including) 4 in...

    JBD 4S 200A BMS

I've tested Daly, JBD and JK BMS pretty extensively. I've found the JBD to be the single brand that actually lives up to their rated claims the best, without smoking things if suddenly shut down. Daly would be the one that is least honest, and has very poor quality control. I haven't tested it...

DIY LiFePO4 Cost Analysis - Almost February 2023 Edition

I've also found a cheaper source willing to customize (as in you could get it with a JK BMS rather than a Seplos BMS). https://szluyuan.en.alibaba.com/productgrouplist-916886693/Battery_box_case.html I've tried one of their cases for the 105AH EVE cells and a JBD BMS and was quite happy with...

The perfect Aliexpress Lifepo4 order... Well, almost.

One thing I'd like to throw out there for others....... The EVE 105 cells come from the factory with M4 threaded holes. Unlike the larger cells, these are done at the factory and have considerably better fit and finish. I would recommend buying them this way, and forgo the addition of the...

    New RD6024 power supply?

I had to look it up, it's a 1220 battery. :) I highly recommend their supplies. I can tell you, the Lincoiah supplies that were "recommended" by Aliexpress *WILL* kill your unit. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256801441733809.html Lasted a little over a month before killing my RD6018. I...

Battery capacity tester with data logging

Very accurate description. :) Good suggestion. For anyone interested I did some measurements of the diode temperature (measured through the PCB). https://diysolarforum.com/threads/battery-cell-capacity-testing.16745/post-220494 That is the primary advantage of this tester, the sense leads...

    JBD 4S 200A BMS

The way JBD "works" makes it pretty easy if sometimes lengthy to get things balanced (how long depends on how far out of balance the cells are). When you turn off the "only balance on charge" setting, what it will do is burn down any cell above the voltage you set. My method: 1. set to 3.45v...

Which power supply for Riden RD6018

Sorry, I missed it. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803558326998.html The 1000W68V is the power supply I've purchased; I see they have a new one rated at 1200 watts using 220v. I think (I'd have to take one apart to be sure) that it is an NVV supply. I see these notes: NOTE: 1. 1000W...

    JBD 4S 200A BMS

Sounds like a very non-standard cell terminal. The one I suggested works well for 1/4 inch or M6.

    JBD 4S 200A BMS

JBD didn't supply already manufactured ring terminals on any BMS that I have purchased from them. Sounds like your vendor did a poor job of testing.

    JBD 4S 200A BMS

I've been purchasing the real Anderson connectors (not sure how good the Chinese copies are). https://powerwerx.com/anderson-power-powerpole-sb-connectors As @Will Prowse noted in a recent video, even the ones rated for 45 amps will get very warm when run at rated capacity. My first try was...

Lost on Battery/BMS wiring & config

One of the reasons I dumped my Daly, never showed anything but zero cycle count. I finally figured out that even though I selected and purchased an LFP BMS, it was set to not count as "full" until above 3.9v (or something like that). In other words, they took a BMS for a different chemistry and...

Lost on Battery/BMS wiring & config

I think your cells are slightly out of balance due to having the balance start voltage set too low previously. All the settings look good to me (or at least safe). You can of course tweak the high and low settings as others have suggested, just don't go below 2.5v or above 3.65v. I think a few...

Dumb question. Why different discharge amp rating than charge amp rating on common port BMS?

Money. Contrary to what you are thinking, they use different FET parts depending on the current direction. So if you need X number of FETs for 100 amp discharge, you need the same number for 100 amp charge. Most people don't have 100 amp chargers, so they save money.

Lost on Battery/BMS wiring & config

If you don't let your cells exceed 3.65v then they won't swell. At least mine haven't.
