    Pylontech Battery Fault

Esol, here in Santiago, Chile swopped the board for me. That was the company I bought the battery from. It´s not clear to me what the solution is for you or to what extent it´s similar or different to my case, sorry.

    Pylontech Battery Fault

6 weeks since the BMS board was replaced; error has not repeated; not even once. Looks likely the correct fix was done. The battery charge levels still go out of alignment by 2% - 5% as before, e.g. one battery might be at 68% and another at 72%. So likely that has nothing to do with the problem.

    Pylontech Battery Fault

Pylontech sent me this guide to replacing the part (and you can see the picture of it) but when I saw it I decided to get my local solar shop to do it for me rather than do it myself. So I never opened the battery or saw inside myself.

    Pylontech Battery Fault

The battery BMS board (tarjeta de control in Spanish) has been replaced and the battery returned to me and the system is now working again with the two batteries. Since the error previously occurred occasionally in the past with gaps of days or weeks in between we won't know for sure if this...

    Pylontech Battery Fault

Update: Pylontech told me to buy a RJ45-DB9-USB cable and rewire it to their instruction. I got a computer shop to do that. This then enabled me to, via a software program and some instructions they sent me, take the logs of data out of the battery and send them to Pylontech, who told me that "I...

    Pylontech Battery Fault

Summary: If you don't have time to read all this the bottom line is I decided to run the system off one battery until issue is fixed later. It looks like you were right Sunshine Eggo, but see below for further detail. (comment is about 900 words, 2 minutes to read) The fault has been...

    Pylontech Battery Fault

Sunshine Eggo, Can I turn off just the faulty battery when the fault occurs (this would be for minutes, hours, or 1-2 days at max). This would leave one battery turned on and still connected to the inverter via the orange cable. Can it still work by passing current through the switched off...

I can´t do that no, or I don´t know how.

    Pylontech Battery Fault

The error is happening more frequently now, 4 times in last 48 hours with 3 of those since I changed to bulk charging voltage 51.8V, Floating charging voltage 51.0V. Not sure whether to set the voltage back to the Pylontech recommended 52.5V or should I try what you said and reduce by 0.2V...

    Pylontech Battery Fault

The same error happened so I changed the voltage settings as you suggested: 26 Bulk charging voltage to 51.8V and 27 Floating charging voltage to 51.0V However the same error occurred again a few hours later

    Pylontech Battery Fault

I'm assuming that if I fail to get 6 hours absorption for whatever reason (high energy use, clouds etc) the only issue will be my battery isn't fully charged. If that's the case, I can probably be Ok with that, or at least try it out and see how we go. I will likely reduce the voltage settings...

    Pylontech Battery Fault

Allow for up to 6 hours always or just the first time after changing settings? In layman's terms, does an absorption period of 6 hours mean to leave the batteries charging for 6 hours?

    Pylontech Battery Fault

When the batteries were installed on February 22nd, both the long cables were installed to the same battery. That can be seen in the picture of post 28 here: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/pylontech-the-right-buy-for-me.34002/page-2 However I was then informed of this mistake and it was...

    Pylontech Battery Fault

Dips are a bit hard to see in photos but the top battery has Dip 1 set to 1 and Dips 2,3 and 4 to zero. The bottom battery has them all at zero. Keep in mind that the current cable positions going into the battery were done on April 13th. Before that, the configuration was different. I changed...

    Pylontech Battery Fault

Thanks for your help. I have seen it discussed that Pylontech batteries are 15 cell rather than 16 cell several times on forums, and no-one has ever contradicted it or claimed otherwise. So let's say 90% sure it is 15 cell as I've never seen this in official Pylontech material. I assume when...

    Pylontech Battery Fault

When you say imbalance would you guess imbalance between the two batteries can cause this (since they do sometimes display different SOC) or do you mean within the faulty battery an imbalance of cells within just the faulty battery. I currently have the following settings in the inverter. I...

    Pylontech Battery Fault

Sometimes all the lights flash and the battery beeps continuously. The manual says "high voltage protection", "cell voltage higher than 4V or module voltage higher than 55.5V". Usually happens with battery discharging and at a middle ish state of charge. Manuals says turn off for 15 mins and...

Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

It's telling that in order to defend the statement "propane does not create much CO2" you link only to the website of a vendor of propane, and the only (unsourced) evidence is that's it's not as bad as charcoal - which of course is rarely used. No attempt to say it's better than electric for CO2...

The pro gas lobby is pretty strong in the US apparently, but glad there isn't any in Spain/Italy. I will give you the advantage of gas being instant. That is certainly true. For boiling water in pans, I try to reduce the climate change by boiling water in a kettle first and then pouring it...

Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

I have heard numerous people making the argument that induction heaters are miles better than gas for many, many reasons on podcasts and articles. I won´t repeat the arguments as googling it would lead to better results that what I could remember. But it seems that pro-gas arguments are either...

Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

My wife did buy a gas kettle as well to give us more flexibility. But it is a fossil fuel so I rarely use it. The above chart you've posted shows that 51V-55V covers most of the battery capacity range. However mine tends to show around 48V-51V for much of its range, assuming discharging at low...

Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

The system is still working well. I've noticed that early morning kettle/microwave/toaster is, given the low state of charge in the battery at that time of day. enough to push the voltage to under 47V and trigger grid usage (47V is current setting 12). Grid usage then continues for some time...

Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

I wouldn't worry about the insects. We don't usually have those sorts of problems here, maybe it's the dry climate. In previous years I've bought giant stacks of firewood at the end of summer and left them outside (under an overhanging roof). We do have ants, but they don't really go for wood...

Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

Found today some bits of wood lying around from a job last week and they were the precise length of the battery by good luck and even the height was pretty good. So I am copying your idea. :) See photos. PS The batteries are NOT tilted at an angle. They are perfectly level. I must have had the...

Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

I decided, after dark, to fill and turn on two kettles. This brought the total house load to just over 4200W. I figured 4000W+ load at night is going to happen sooner or later so I may as well just do it at a convenient time and watch what happens. The battery provided all the energy...

Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

Yes, there is a circuit breaker, but at some point I'll have a very cloudy day or have to charge the car a large amount in one day or overnight. I guess I can wait until then to find out if this inverter can deal with the switch to grid/utility.

Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

Thanks a lot for helping out. I do keep an eye on the plants, and I shoved them under the panels a few days ago since taking that photo. I do understand how plants shading 1% of a panel can reduce the energy by >>1%. However, my solar input (as measured by the inverter) is good, consistently...

Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

If the battery is never emptied, I'm guessing that is no issue, if it is rarely below say 40% full, at least at this time of year. Or is there any value to empty occasionally? So the manual says recommended current of 25A and max current of 50-89A@60 sec. However since I have two batteries I...

Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

Here are the photos of the system. Things are working very well so far.Changing the cables may have been a great idea (thanks!) as there was an error message on the battery on the 1 day they were connected as before and things working well in the 4 days since then. There has not been a power...

Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

Thanks a lot for your help. The manual said turn off for 15 min and turn back on which I did which seemed to work, no current alarm, things look OK. Just to be clear there is no current problem. We have 3.25kW panels (10 Risen) with Axpert MKS II 5kW as well as the US2000C x2. I can´t get to...

EDIT: 13th April, 2022: I found out that there is a small button on the cables that you push in to pull the cables out rather than pull them out with force. I contacted my friend who installed the system and he was happy with the suggested change. I have changed the connections as stated, they...

Are all four black (negative) ports functionally equivalent? i.e. doesn't matter which of any you use for both short and long cable? Any cable to any connection (as long as it's black to black and not black to red of course).

So does this look OK: ---if I disconnect the cable I have marked with a green X ---and move that same cable and reconnect to the position I've marked with a green O ---and only change position of one cable; not move any of the other cables at all (might have to move/reconnect the short black...

Pylontech - The Right Buy for Me?

Looks like option 18 killed all sound. The downside is you might not know if there is a fault. So now I've turned off the sound the ignorance of faults could cause damage, problems etc. Also last year I was finding there would be a fault, and the beeping would draw my attention to it, and I...
