Using solar micro inverters with batteries instead of panels

I'm using enphase M215 micro inverters with 6 Valence U27-12XP batteries (2S-3P) and the inverter are connecting and produce max possible power without any problem. The current is automatically adjusted to match the decreasing voltage. I use this to store excess daily production and use it to...

    It's the Wild West - RV's w/Chinese Prebuilts

Batteries exposure is not the only concern to me on the first picture. You can clearly see a red wire without protection chaffing against the frame...which is connected to ground. As it does not seem there is any fuse after the battery, it is a problem to come!

What's inside the box? (70A Adjustable power supply)

I have purchased the same type of power supply than the OP, but in 24V. It is basically 2 server PS connected in serie, one without current limitation, adjusted to 15V, and the other one being adjustable both in voltage and current. Components in the regulator box are blanked/scratched, so no...

Help with surplus prismatic cell specs

jump directly to a 16S pack...it will be quicker to highlight runners and bad cells...You maybe very surprised that none of cells will have been damaged...If none of them was at 0V, I would bet they are all in good condition!

Help with surplus prismatic cell specs

That's a huge number of cells! Testing them one by one will be tricky! I would simply charge them up to 3.65V and connect them 16 by 16 to built a 48V battery, with a BMS. Then running a load like an inverter, I would check if there is any runner on the pack and replace it. It all depends what...

Help with surplus prismatic cell specs

In the Valence battery manual, they say than when the battery display a red flashing light, the OEM should be contacted to assess if battery can be recovered or not...except for undervoltage. It is described that if the battery reach 2.3V per cell in less than a minute at 0.5A, then the alarm...

Help with surplus prismatic cell specs

To be honest, I just connect a 5A power supply initially and the battery quickly jump above 2.5V/cell...but I learn after that I should have charge initially at less than 0.5A, which I did for the other batteries. They are all behaving the same.
  11. E

Help with surplus prismatic cell specs

From experience, it seems recovered cells are just behaving as if nothing happen... I had Valence U27-12XP batteries that were below 2V (4 cells serie...) that just recovered and behave perfectly: full capacity. They may have lost few cycles, but given the price paid, who cares!

    One cell always higher

    Sounds normal to me...
  13. E

    One cell always higher

That means your power supply is not properly set...Amp should decrease significantly when cells reach 3.6X. Also, with cells in parallel, reading such a diffecence between cells is not consistent. Stop your charger immediately and check wiring and charger voltage: 3.65 without any load connected!

Fuse size for 2P16S battery bank (560ah)

I think that if each bank can for any reason power both inverters at full charge (maintenance or one fuse already blown), then each fuse should be able to sustain the load of almost 500A. I would use fuse close to 1C rate for each bank, so 560A

    LiFePO4 battery shut off 14.6V

No answer to the questions, no way to help you...What is your battery brand? BMS? Charger? Inverter? picture of the connections? Also, 14.6 volts for a LFP battery is full charge at 3.65V per cell. So if your inverter stops under load with a battery at such voltage, that means you are exceeding...

    LiFePO4 battery shut off 14.6V

Maybe a little bit more details on the batteries and BMS? it maybe the BMS which is triggering a high current protection. 1500W over 12V battery bank is above 100Amps... Any bad connection would also trigger a low voltage at inverter input under load.

Big Battery 24v 170ah hawk problems

The pictures of the connections are horrible. It is even dangerous, as it could lead to overheating and starting a fire! It is poor design, poor assembly and absolutely 0 quality control! Help Required - AliExpress Lifepo4 battery dispute

It may be that the cells are 75Ah...The Chinese seller are good in cumultaing both voltage and capacity in the description... DO you have a mean to open the battery? Help Required - AliExpress Lifepo4 battery dispute

13.6V is definitely not a sign the battery is fully charged and balanced. Full charge is 14.6, i.e all cells at 3.65V. Having 0 Amps at 13.6 may be with a low cell, that will trigger the low voltage protection of the BMS.

Need help - Valence U27-12XP with broken plastic around negative post-terminal

I will try to show you pictures of the negative terminal from the inside, I have a battery completely dismantled due to a bad cell. Balanced charger using own power…

Something is not matching. LFP is 3.65V max, and 4.18/4.2 is lithium ion chemistery. I would be very cautious when doing such a loop, it may happen the inverter is not isolated such as transformerless solar inverter. Regarding the unbalance of your pack, there is definitely a problem with the...

    Valence XP bad self Discharge?

You need to charge each battery individually up to 14.6V, in order to properly balance each cell and reset the SOC. Valence U27-12XP 2S 3P BMS?

Not exactly...as the positive of a cell is the negative of the next one... Valence XP Super Thread

I was calculating the amp following the 1800W asked by Corbury. 1800W at 12V gives 150A but if you consider battery is more around 13.4 rather than 12V, it lower the AMP around 134A. Having 2 in parallel will gives a C/2 charge on the battery which is no problem.

    Valence XP Super Thread

I have a set of 7 battery in my EV, connected in serie. Discharge rate are going up to 250 A, and batteries have logged a 332A peak. THey seems to hold well. So I suspect 150A continuous are not a problem... And keep in mind batteries are usually around 13.4V, so it is 134A, just around 1C rate.
