    Quick question 12v to 48v

Can I use my spare epever charge controller to take 12v panel input and send it to my 48v battery? Or does it have to be 12v to 12v or 48v to 48v? Its a Tracer 100a model

    PV->hot water

Hi efficient, I want to build can you help? Do you have a noob write up for direct panel to DC water elements/tanks/heaters? I didn't see a sticky at the top of the water heater section for basics etc. I watched a Missouri wind and solar video and I have a few questions I have 26 panels (36v...

MPP LVX6048 are the Neutral and Ground bonded inside when using only battery input?

So if you are off grid with a generator as backup, would you then just treat the service panel that the LV feeds as a sub panel or bond the G and N and just not have gfci bc of the genny? What about afci vs the genny? AFCI sounded nice for potential fire issues, but now I'm lost if the cabin...

    MPP-SOLAR LV6548

Yep I cleaned mine this spring and was also surprised how well they work. I kind of wish they slid in and out like a window AC filter or something vs needing a screw. Maybe a wing nut bolt would be better!

    Pellet stoves

So after a ton of research Harman sounds like its gone down hill on newer stoves and people review having half to replace half a dozen parts in a year or two. Quadrafire and Enviro are solid and seem about equal with Enviro having a few less complaints. Enviro M55 is multifuel and dozen+ years...

    Pellet stoves

Would you buy it again. Reviews look mixed online, but its more than half the cost of Harman or quadrafire, and better reviews than other Home depot stoves. Sometimes I feel user error or just lack of knowledge lead to bad reviews though. Couple thoughts: It would be heating 900 sq ft 24/7...

    Pellet stoves

Well seems like pellet stoves are decent for power usage. If its under 100w an hr even on a cloudy week I will have enough power. Found this Interesting http://www.forgreenheat.org/consumer_resources/reliablepellet.html

    Pellet stoves

How would I know if they have creosote. I read soft wood pellets are better than hard, as hard pellets can gum things up with creosote. How much power does it use? These guys sell pallets of pellets down the street from me and I have pallet forks for my tractor. here is their brand, they also...

    Pellet stoves

We want a pellet stove and I was wondering if there are some pellet gurus out there. The gravity feeds seem to need a lot of maintenance as in scrape the drop hole daily, add a bag of pellets daily, and gum up with creosote, (probably due to low temps/design) I've read 100w up to 500w for...

Why not ANL fuse instead of Class T?

Yeah - Fire! The sand in a class T stops the arc when the fuse blows. DC and high amps w lith will just arc and create a fire. amazon sells both the holder and fuse at decent prices. If you build it right you should never have to buy another one.

    Cells on Will's site

I'm leaning towards current connected, fortune, or overkill cells.

    Cells on Will's site

I trust warranties about as much as S#!+ in a box as Tommy Boy would say. I have never had a company not price gouge on shipping or be horrible to deal with/dissapear/or they just bill me for a new item that I then had to fight - unless it was costco, home depot, harbor freight or other box/...

    Cells on Will's site

Does anyone have some long term usage and praise for their lifepo cells? A dozen of mine sucked from Bashen and the rep disappeared and wouldn't reply to warranty requests. I was thinking those industrial overkill/ fortune cells. I need a legit supplier and cell. Its a good thing I bought a...

    Newb to wind

Man thats so bad. 2500wh a month from 10mph, so I could maybe charge my phone or something stupid. And those things spin pretty good it seems at that speed. Must be similar to just a car alternator, but I think a car alternator would make more power than that actually. Thanks for the info on...

    Newb to wind

There was a wind farm that was proposed to be built right next to our town, and the town shot it down. It was years before my time, but from what I can tell we are 5.5 to 7 m/s. Depending on location within 10 miles of where I am since I'm 10 miles from the lake and can use that as my guage for...

    Newb to wind

So I'm looking at the 1600w $1200-ish kits from missouri wind and solar that a friend has. They have a 600w divert load looks like a heater coil. I assume it just produces heat. What happens to the other 1000w if my batteries are full but its 20mph outside? Is it as easy as solar? Just put it...

Generator only charge controller / charger for cloudy days or night time???

It has to be 48v to the battery bus bars well max 58v. Higher would eventually bulge your batteries and start a fire. You PV controller takes 250v/etc and makes it 48v. The point of doing it with the aims charger is to avoid needed a 6000w generator to the inverter to output max charge of 1500w...

Mini split - multizone vs individual sets???

Yes, Gree has also been used around the world for decades and I have seen these brands sold in grocery stores in the rest of the world, and are easily install by any person with the tools. In american you are paying more for marketing and the AC industry to install it. What's the % that midea...

Mini split - multizone vs individual sets???

Whats more effecient a 2-5 multi zone outside 18k btu w two or three 9k btu wall units or 2 or 3 individual 9k units you can turn off and on individually. I worry 9k wont be enough on really hot days for the living room/kitchen and I may want two wall units down the road, one on each end of the...

I like my two MPPT LV6548. I got them straight from the factory from peggy. The money you save is enough to ship it back if you ever have warranty issues and it took 3 days to arrive vs months on a boat through other sellers. She answered all my questions and helped setup the wifi app bc it...
