Two Topbrand Navitas Grade A 25ah 3.2v lifepo4 Batteries Needed

I just picked up a case. Wish I had the money for 2 cases though! I sell white blood cells and get 450 a pop. Hope these or other 25 ah cells get in stock again so I can expand out the battery array. Trying to get enough to store power from a 2kw system.

Gen 2 Prius Lithium Titanate (LTO) conversion

IMO, this is not a worthwhile path. Hybrids (including the beloved Prius (I have a gen 2 as well and love them) are a dead end. If you are going to spend the time/money on a project like this just go all in with a BEV build (maybe an old VW bug conversion. Keep the thing running for as long...

DIY Grid Tie System 2 KW

I don't have much land. My only free space is a flat top roof or on top of the pergola.

    Solaredge 3000a

Selling a solaredge 3000a 3 kw grid tie inverter. Not tested, but was tald when I bought it that it was from a working system. $100 OBO Located in SF bay area. Trying to sell this to fund the rest of my powerwall project

DIY Grid Tie System 2 KW

Yup, section 690.1 in NEC 2017, did in any hope of going with used optimizers, and any hope of economically tying in these with my previous planned configuration. I need to try to keep this as off grid as feasible going forward

SF Bay Area 18650 Large Lot (550+ ~15+ tool packs) for Sale

Hello all, I am selling off my 18650 collection I have been amassing over the last few years. These are about 35% from dell battery packs that I got from a shop that was upgrading a cooperate lot and pulled these from workstation laptops. The balance are from old tool packs. I am running out...

DIY Grid Tie System 2 KW

I believe mine are 60 cell, right now I am going down the route of using electrodacus DSSR20's. This is the perfect application for this w/ dirt cheap panels that are oversized so I can get generation through a wider shoulder for the day.

DIY Grid Tie System 2 KW

Thanks, Along with the help of a few folks on this forum and a bit of research I found out I have to go with new/recent manufacture optimizers, and then I was crunching the numbers the permit costs etc, and this would push me to 2k+ to finish out a grid tie system. I am now going to take the...

Trying to Pick all in 1 invertor for ~2kw array built w/ used panels.

Yup, when AC is not really needed and with minor conservation efforts it is not hard to drop electrical usage low. It's one of the blessings of living in this area! I am almost glad the black outs occurred for selfish reasons, now I really have a great excuse to build the system out :)

Trying to Pick all in 1 invertor for ~2kw array built w/ used panels.

Hedges, On roof mounting: I have a flat roof that I just put an elastomeric coating on. I am thinking of going with a ballasted flat roof mount, going to read about it then start getting a few quotes from Alibaba. The pricing is not really transparent, and if it is too much of a headache...

Trying to Pick all in 1 invertor for ~2kw array built w/ used panels.

Hedges, I added up the numbers for a compliant Enphase system, it would be 1,200 just for inverters and the envoy, then permits, etc. etc. Much to my chagrin, even w/ DIY a compliant grid tie system just is not economically viable. This is a 3 person single family home, we just don't use...

    Enphase Grid-Tied & Roof-Mounted Solar System - The Beginning

That stinks about the HOA locking your system into a suboptimal spot. I'm in the same boat, want to catch NEM2 before it goes to something worse. It looks like that iq8 is coming out Q3 this year, they only sell direct to "certified  installers" but I can buy it through a few resellers.

    Enphase Grid-Tied & Roof-Mounted Solar System - The Beginning

Why Enphase? I am leaning going that route on the DIY path myself, but only because of some of my system specifics (very small system w/ used panels, etc.) A 3.2 kw array will net your usage to 0 (not sure if you are in one of the spots where NEM1 is still open, RIverside county, etc) Tesla's...

Why did Will go with Electrodacus?

There is a beginners manual being put together. Yes, it is just Dacian but I there is not much to fail by design. Also, the technology is shifting so rapidly that anything you build now is going to likely be out of date in 5-10 years. It is an interesting system and gives you allot of...

Mobile Battery Build for Ship and Shore

Very nice! Just an idea if you are going to move this around, would a surplus ammo case work (40 MM or morter etc.)? https://www.sportsmansguide.com/productlist/military-surplus/ammo-cans-military-storage/ammo-boxes-cans?d=122&c=407&s=199 Just an idea, nice build!

Trying to Pick all in 1 invertor for ~2kw array built w/ used panels.

Hedges, Thank you, you have given me allot to think about. I keep leaning away from the zero export system as this is a home I will likely sell in 3-5 years or rent out. This is not certain and I really want to do something. If it was a long term house I would 100% go the route you went...

Super capacitors are a horrible choice for solar. Change my mind

I think they have a number of great applications right now 1. Use them for surge current when devices start up for small/medium scale systems 2. For grid scale, they may have a good application for VAR and frequency support (i.e. use them as the shock absorbers/pressure boosters) Technology...

Trying to Pick all in 1 invertor for ~2kw array built w/ used panels.

Thanks Hedges! This gets back to the "grid assist", I am going to add something like that as a phase 2 (I have an electrodacus and want to build this out as a system that I could potentially hot swap between loads on my house and also take out w/ a camper............that is getting too far down...

Trying to Pick all in 1 invertor for ~2kw array built w/ used panels.

Outback looks like it is ~$3,700 for 8 kw, Sol-Ark looks like $7,000 for 12 kw The Magnum inverter you mention looks like they have some microinverter options, that may be the ticket to make this pan out!!! I'll be doing a bit more digging on microinverter options. It looks like Enphase may...

Trying to Pick all in 1 invertor for ~2kw array built w/ used panels.

I did talk to the city and it is $235. They will let accept a permit package and non stamped drawing set. I have not called the utility (PG&E, this is northern CA), looking on line I see reference to a $145 fee, but on PG&E's site it looks like they don't charge an initial connection fee. I...

Trying to Pick all in 1 invertor for ~2kw array built w/ used panels.

Thanks Maast! As I am reading a bit more about these, one concept that slipped by is that both these MPP and Growatts are "Grid Assist", meaning that one cannot put power out to the grid. They seem to serve more as a BMS/Inverter (for power from your battery bank to house side power)/ and...

Trying to Pick all in 1 invertor for ~2kw array built w/ used panels.

Hello, I am have 18 used 120 watt panels and would like to get these grid tied and for a dream system have battery back up. My electrical usage is very low so in reality I could get away w/ a 1.2 kw array. I have in hand a SolarEdge 5000a (unknown if it works) but want to sell that off as...

Newbie looking to put in both grid tie and battery back up

Hello all! Been enjoying reading the forum, just starting to post. I have been doing things a bot backwards as I have been getting parts etc. before wrapping up design as I hae been scavenging. A summary is posted below: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/diy-grid-tie-system-2-kw.19913/ I...

DIY Grid Tie System 2 KW

Hello, I recently bought 18 120W panels and a Solaredge 5000a (I think, no tag on unit) for $150 total. My power usage has always been relatively low (table w/ power & cost below) so I couldn't justify a solar system financially but I think going this way will let me pull it off. My roof is...
