Mismatch Series / Parallel in 5 Panel Configuration

I'm planning to get the MC4 20Amp fuses connected to the panels, then connect that to a 8AWG MC4 cable and combine it all to a 4AWG cable, might need to use a busbar or weld it all together.

Mismatch Series / Parallel in 5 Panel Configuration

That is a good idea, however Victron calculator does not recommend using the 250V/85 as all panels series voltage will get very close to it. I would have to get a charge controller from down under I think Outlaw solar has a 300V MPPT. I'm trying to avoid having two charge controllers to reduce...

Mismatch Series / Parallel in 5 Panel Configuration

It will be lots of current, but why do you feel a fuse will be necessary ? My plan was to use a 60-70Amp fuse for the entire installation.

Mismatch Series / Parallel in 5 Panel Configuration

I meant to say to get another MPPT charger and wire to the 5th panel.

Mismatch Series / Parallel in 5 Panel Configuration

A combiner box in the roof will be hard. I think will just convert the MC4 to heavy 4AWG wire.

Mismatch Series / Parallel in 5 Panel Configuration

Will be using 4AWG wire, have about 12 feet for the longest run.

Mismatch Series / Parallel in 5 Panel Configuration

After some research I found that using all the panels in Parallel will be supported and that should lead to best performance. This also helped: https://footprinthero.com/solar-panel-series-and-parallel-calculator

Mismatch Series / Parallel in 5 Panel Configuration

I've limited roof space and wanted to use the most out of the panels with less components a possible. I have a total of 5 Panels LG440QAC-A6 and a Victron MPPT 150-85 Looking to have a series with the first 3 Panels in Parallel connected to 2 panels in parallel, behind the MPPT charge...

    Inverter Disconnect with Pre-Charge

Thought it was your idea, you just reposted what should be a link for a resource. FilterGuy is the one that deservers the credit.

    Inverter Disconnect with Pre-Charge

Great manual. Really appreciate you sharing it. Your idea of rotary switch is the best. Pre-Charge will be always placed if the user follows an error indicating the power on order. Great work

    MG Chemicals 847 Test

@zolee the 8463A lists as Grease and the 847 as assembly paste. I don't think it's best practices to put grease directly onto the terminal as it can come undone with vibration. I guess if you're careful to avoid the threads it can work. I just ordered some 847 from laddresearch as they are...

    IQ7+ & 390W Panels

It seems that a "line side tap" would be the solution to resolve this. I don't see disadvantages on this when not using a battery system.

    IQ7+ & 390W Panels

I'm trying to get pricing on them but haven't found online sales. Do you know if they support an API/REST to get the system status even without their cloud ? Do you pay extra for 25 year warranty ? On their docs they state 10 year default and 25 year option.

    IQ7+ & 390W Panels

I want to start with a big thanks to @svetz , @Hedges , @Solar Guppy , @ncsolarelectric , really appreciate you guys helping me here. It took me a while to reply as I was digesting all the good info you guys shared. I'm going to share the info I find here so it can be used for others in the...

    IQ7+ & 390W Panels

@svetz thank you very much for sharing your solar install info. I'm also in Florida, about 100 miles from you in Fort Lauderdale (Broward County). I've New Canadian Solar 390W panels from a surplus dealer that will cost me $0.66 per watt. I'm looking to order a palett with 30 panels it will...

Motorhome with LG Neon R 440W

Also consider that you should sync the charge controllers to ensure they are putting out the same state of charge, the best way for that is to use the VE.Can otherwise you will need VE.Direct from each, looks like it might be possible but can be tricky with 5 devices.

Motorhome with LG Neon R 440W

Yes, it's cheaper to get 5 SmartSolar MPPT 100/20 than 1 250/70 however would that be the most efficient way (consider that they all have a small loss to operate) ? Lots of wiring and space needed also. I really need to save the space.

Motorhome with LG Neon R 440W

I'm building a similar system with 5 x 440Watts LG Panels (same LG440QAC) and just checked from LG specs the panel has 3 diodes, so it should be split into 3 sections and if a panel is shaded it will be bypassed, so I'm planning on going all in series for my setup this way I can go with a single...

Xuba Catl 300 arriving - Getting ready to test.

They should be all fine, they were packed well. I will go over them in about a month, but I'm confident there are no problems. I got pictures before and after packing.

Xuba Catl 300 arriving - Getting ready to test.

Ok, so the batteries arrived and I got one random sample to test. It arrived at 3.3V and I charged it at about 10Amps for several hours until it lowered the current to about 300mah. See picture bellow: Then I wired it to my discharge tester And after 24 hours I have not opened...

    Battery cell capacity testing.

So you've been using the DL24 to test the batteries reliably ? I just received mine and wanted to test one cell. At 10 Amps it will take about 30 hours but it will do. I was afraid of it melting at 10 Amps.

Xuba Catl 300 arriving - Getting ready to test.

Batteries arrived, packaging was GREAT. Absolutely flawless packaging. I would give a 10 out of 10 so far. All items have been received. 50 days from the order date. ? first impression is great. I can't start testing them tonight because the cells are very cold, looks like they were on very...

Xuba Catl 300 arriving - Getting ready to test.

I should be receiving my 17 cells by Friday. And I'm looking for suggestion for best way to test. I've a Riden RD6012 that I can use to charge it reliably. So far I've a DL24P that can handle up to 180 watts however don't think it can handle that at 3V I'm thinking about setting it up to 15Amps...

    EVE or LISHEN

I've ordered 17 CATL300, paid for one to be tested, so far this is the report I got: I have already ordered test equipment to validate once I receive. I decided to take the chances. Worked with Selina from XUBA, they laser welded the terminals and sent a picture.

    EVE or LISHEN

Sure, this might take 60 days, as I paid ocean freight only. I already have test equipment and I also paid for 1 cell to be tested and I added one extra cell for discard. Yes, they are going to laser weld a threaded post to them. Totally agree with you. I can't be paying half the price and...
