Monitoring Software-Solar Assistant, JK-BMS, ESPHome and Home Assistant

I use these. You'll have to hold the boot button down while plugging into your computer via a USB cable just for the initial program upload to the esp32. After it's loaded everything is wireless from there. (Click on the link below)... https://a.co/d/bjwoXOT

As far as the jkbms yes you can! I do exactly that. So you flash the jkbms program to the esp32 using ESPHome (Which is in your Home Assistant). The esp32 has both wifi and bluetooth built in. The esp32 will need to be near the jkbms and will pull all information from the JK through bluetooth...

    MPP LV6548 Build

I have 34 panels still on pallets in my garage... I want to downsize, go with server rack batteries and ground mounted solar. I'm doing okay here, just trying to figure out the timing of bringing the plan together. Stay tuned! Hope you are well! Happy New Year! ? Dan

    MPP LV6548 Build

Sure, Back to grid - is the voltage setting that you want the inverters to transfer from using your batteries to using grid power. In my case this setting is 50v. (The lowest voltage that you want to drain your pack down to). Back to discharge Voltage - is the voltage setting that you want your...

Monitoring Software-Solar Assistant, JK-BMS, ESPHome and Home Assistant

Thanks for posting that! Also ...If you have an older version (Mine is the JK-B2A24S and only monitors and balances). You would put JK04 for the protocol version. (There is an example yaml for that on the site as well). Now I'm thinking about using the delta cell voltage reading as a shutdown...

This ESP32 is monitoring the JK-BMS as is in the picture. (I'll mount it later) through bluetooth. Love ESP technology!

Ah... I thought about that as well. I bought a Moes smart outlet with USB so that I could turn the socket off and on with a schedule. This way the battery doesn't stay at 100 percent charged all the time. Your dashboard looks great! (Tablet battery is monitored at the bottom) Dan

Your probably talking about Digiblur's YT channel. If so, you know he has some valuable information. That's where I got my info on the 6 circuit ESP32 power monitoring info from. It DOES have a learning curve to tune them in.. (Meter or other means to measure amperage) while you calibrate the...

Monitoring Software-Solar Assistant, JK-BMS, ESPHome and Home Assistant

Hey all! I thought I would share my Home Assistant dashboard that I'm using on a cheap Samsung A7 pad. I am using it for smart home applications, but also monitoring my: - Mains power and Sub-Panel (As a deduct reading) using ESPhome and 2 sets of CT clamps. - 2 LV6548's, and Victron smart...

    solar assistant and rasberry pi

The way I see it you are purchasing a license to use this software and not the software itself.. Whoever wrote it is protecting their hard work this way (Like it or not). I wish it was freeware myself. It's not, but I get that. There are many other programs out there that I personally have...

    solar assistant and rasberry pi

Yes the Victron Smart Shunt connects to the Pi. You have the ability to look at all of the data on your PC or phone. I use my phone to monitor and turn on/off lights, open garage doors etc. via the HA. You don't need it, but it's just handier for me to use. I wanted a way to quickly view just...

Luckily I had the Pi, the software you can download from there website I think it was $60.If you can get hold of a Raspberry pi at Amazon that would be the way to go probably..

    solar assistant and rasberry pi

After messing around with the Solar Assistant and LV6548 inverters for the past couple of weeks I thought I would update some things I found out. At first I used the USB to USB from the Pi to the inverters. This worked for a bit, then would disconnect constantly. So I tried using the RS232...

    solar assistant and rasberry pi

I just looked at the solar assistant website and it appears that you can plug your EG4 batteries into the Pi using the USB RS485 cable that should come with your batteries. So actually you could do that instead of using the smart shunt and it should recognize all of your battery banks. Go to...

    solar assistant and rasberry pi

Yes, I just plugged my ve direct cable from the victron smart shunt into the raspberry Pi running solar assistant. To my surprise, you can select it as an option for battery monitoring! ? Otherwise you have to simulate the values or use inverter values which are off..

    solar assistant and rasberry pi

Yes, Victron kind of reminds me of Apple. They have well built hardware but you pay dearly for it, and you kind of need to be in there sphere once you start. To a point. You can use a raspberry pi with their Venus software and still have an awesome setup. Why would you not try that?

I just got it. Running both of my 2 Mppsolar 6548's in split phase on 1 Raspberry Pi 4. I will say this... I have been tinkering around for many many hours with other home brew programs and it became too much of a hassle. This was absolutely the best. Pretty much plug and play, AND I use Home...

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

You are correct, If the neutral is lost you could complete the path and that would definitely be dangerous! What I don't know is if the neutral is a common connection in the inverters (meaning they are mechanically connected) and therefore almost impossible for this to happen unless you...

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

Yep, that looks like what I did. I don't think the inverters switch the state of the N/G bond they have on the input. Mine didn't.. Wait, your neutral in the transfer switch is on a common connection. It will be switched in either the Mains mode or Inverter mode. I have an added disconnect just...

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

Correct, some people were taking a bonding screw out of the inverters. This only removed the bonding on the output side when I tested that. This doesn't solve the problem because the input still had the N/G bonded. Basically, it's just as the drawing shows in the book. I suppose adding a...

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

I have been reading through all of this and pulling my hair out on my setup for a while now. I FINALLY had some time to go back and mess with mine because I still had current on my ground at the Main panel. Here is what I ended up doing: 1. Ground from Main panel to: Both my transfer...

    LV6548 Grounding issues

You are spot on.. No neutral bond except at the main panel. I think there is a problem with the neutral being bonded from the factory with these inverters (Which is a problem). These inverters should have no bonding when using the mains power and this should switch to being bonded when not using...

Brand New REC Alpha series 365AA Solar Panels for Sale!

They had sent the Alpha series-black with white back (Which I am selling) I now have the same series in all black so they match. Didn't want to have two different styles on the same side of the house. Still waiting for an estimate then will be FINALLY putting 20 panels up on the roof. It's been...

    LV6548 Grounding issues

Well, sort of.. they got way deep into the build and my drawings and made the situation more complicated than it should have been so I gave up on the back and forth. I ended up changing my ground from the panel directly to the inverters (It was in my junction box on a terminal strip with the...

    MPP LV6548

I have been playing around with the Jblance install. I am able to read all of the battery voltages and resistance measurements using jkbms -p at the command prompt, but I haven't been able to read the data from influx on grafana yet. Everything seems to be working fine but something is just not...

I totally agree with the BMS comment and NO fan. Point of failure to me as well. The 500A smart shunt is fantastic to use in cooperation with the JK balancer for monitoring and yes I use it for SOC and other important data. With my charge/discharge parameters on the MPP's (50v-56v) I get about...

I saw that! he's jammin some serious power with that system! I couldn't have built my setup without the help of others either and so I try to give back when I can. This forum, @Will Prowse, and many others have been such a valuable part of my DIY experience!

I agree with Sanwizard. I'm running my system naked (No BMS) yet. Mine is only a backup generator at this point until solar panel install. I don't care for Daly either but I am impressed with the JK active balancer that I use, so I may also get the JK BMS/balancer when the time comes. For now I...
