    Disconnect 7-PIN for charging

I have a T@B teardrop trailer withe the same WFCO converter and wanted to disconnect charging also. I pulled the fuse in the tow vehicle which was the easiest solution. Another option for me was to disconnect and tape off the charge wire in the 7 pin distribution box under the front of the...

    Alternator

you can run both wires from the starter battery to the Anderson if you wish. Just be sure to use the correct gage for the wire run. I got my tinned marine wire, lugs and heat shrink tubing from Battery Cables USA and was good quality cable. They also had 175 Anderson lugs for 7 AWG wire for the...

    Alternator

I ran a chassis ground from the rear car frame to the Anderson plug at the bumper, it was about 2 feet long. I used a chassis bolt available at any auto parts store. I ran the RV’s Anderson plug ground wire to the RV chassis near the Orion unit and drilled another hole in the RV frame. The...

Camper Trailer Solar/Lith upgrade (WF-8740 Power Center)

My RV has a WFCO 8735, 2015 vintage and it charges my 272ah lithium at around 12 amps then at 9. It will bring it up to 99% given enough time. The odd thing is at some point during a multi day camp stay, after the converter has charged the battery the converter stops supplying 12v power to my...

    Alternator

I have a similar sized run to my travel trailer and went with 2 AWG marine wire directly from the starter battery, via 60 amp breaker, to a 175 Anderson with a chassis ground at the back of the TV. I went with a victron Orion TR smart charger, non isolated. The charge voltage is spot on to my...

DC-DC charger (B2B) options and general discussion

Well short_shot, you were right! Update on the Orion TR smart dc charger on the subject of back feeding to the tow vehicle, a 2016 Honda Pilot with an “all to smart” alternator…the unit ran fine in “the driveway test” but as soon as I got on the road it wouldn’t charge. unfortunately the unit...

DC-DC charger (B2B) options and general discussion

I got my 272 CATL battery built and a Victron Orion tr smart 12-12 30 installed in my RV. I went with 2 awg battery positive cable and a chassis ground in my 2016 Honda Pilot due to the combined length of run of the Pilot/RV. It’s all working well and thanks for the assistance kennedyma! I’ll...

    First RV battery build

Just finished my first battery build for a narrow compartment in my TAB 320 teardrop trailer. I used soft neoprene from McMaster between the cells and galco grounding straps in place of solid bus bars to eliminate any possible terminal stress. It’s made with 272ah cells and an overkill BMS...

Tapping new threads in the terminals

Yes, 6061 is what I had laying around. I just finished my RV first battery and none of the grub screws fitted with 263 loctite stripped and tightened to 30 inch pounds, so all is good in my world!

Tapping new threads in the terminals

I had a piece of aluminum almost the same thickness as the depth of the terminal holes, grub screw with loctite 263. The next day I double nutted it but turned the nuts at 9 NM but the screw held. I put a single nut on and went to 20FP and the screw turned a few degrees then tightened and snapped.

Tapping new threads in the terminals

I got a 4 flute bottom tap from mcmaster and tried it out of the box...I got it from 4.7 to 5.5. I ground .7mm off and and finished up at 6mm, so I calling it a success! Thanks for the tips and replies. I was able to finish the tap with finger pressure. I tried a tap handle and only got a few...

Tapping new threads in the terminals

I have one terminal drilled to 6.5mm, threaded to 4.7. All the others are threaded to 6mm. I need to buy a bottom tap. I was going to get a fluted bottom tap. Should I buy a bottom forming tap instead? BTW, This battery has m6 terminals.

Batteries just arrived but have questions.

Ouch, I saw this and read your earlier posts on this. That really stinks and hope I don’t have this happen to me.

Batteries just arrived but have questions.

Thanks for your replies and tips! I bought a battery cutoff and will use it instead of the BMS shutoff. I already got a tube of 263 but will consider the jb weld. Maybe I’ll pick up a bottom tap. I was just concerned about messing up the threads that were already there. It’s too bad they got...

Batteries just arrived but have questions.

Just received four 272 catl cells with 6m terminals and I’m top balancing them now. This forum has been a goldmine of information and huge help to me. This is my first battery build and have a few questions. The battery is going in my teardrop travel trailer. 1. I measured the depth of...
